Chapter 6496: The Netherworld Sect’s Traitor

As soon as Baili Xukong left, Wuma Hanshuang summoned her aides and tasked them to capture Wen Xue. She even spent some time devising a plan to ensure they would succeed in apprehending Wen Xue.

The Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s legacy had been claimed, so there was no point in protecting it anymore. So, Wuma Hanshuang returned to her private territory.

She was exhausted. She had truly harbored high expectations of Wen Xue; she didn’t think things would end up like that. She trudged toward her palace and opened its doors, only to find someone awaiting her inside.

Her eyes narrowed in astonishment.

It was Wen Xue.

Wuma Hanshuang thought she was seeing things. Didn’t Wen Xue escape? What is she doing here?

Wen Xue bowed to her and greeted, “Master.”

Shoosh!

Wuma Hanshuang flitted up to Wen Xue and lifted her with a single hand. She glared at Wen Xue with eyes filled with anger and killing intent. “How dare you return?!”

But when she saw Wen Xue’s face twisted in agony, she loosened her grip a little. She couldn’t help but wonder if there was another side to the story, or else Wen Xue wouldn’t have been so bold as to return and confront her.

It would be unwise to trust Jie Tianran’s one-sided words.

“What happened, Wen Xue? Why did Jie Tianran claim that you have colluded with Chu Feng to steal the legacy?” Wuma Hanshuang questioned.

“Master, Jie Tianran’s words can’t be trusted. That isn’t true at all!” Wen Xue exclaimed indignantly.

Wuma Hanshuang released Wen Xue and spat with clenched jaws, “I knew it! Jie Tianran can’t be trusted!”

Wen Xue continued, “Even though Chu Feng shared a portion of the legacy with me, I didn’t help him steal it at all. He did everything by himself. That Jie Tianran is such a liar!”

Wuma Hanshuang froze in place. She couldn’t believe her ears. “What are you saying?”

“I didn’t collude with Chu Feng to steal the legacy. He did it all by himself,” Wen Xue replied.

“But you were working with him?” Wuma Hanshuang asked.

“I was, but I didn’t have to do a thing at all.”

Pu!

Wuma Hanshuang’s palm impaled Wen Xue’s body, and fresh blood splattered. The fury in her eyes blazed even more fervently than before. It had become apparent to her that Wen Xue was toying with her.

“Wen Xue, I treated you well. Why did you betray me?” Wuma Hanshuang spat.

“You have indeed treated me well, master, but my ties with Chu Feng go even deeper than that. It’s only right for me to help him. There was also something I coveted in the remnant, and I couldn’t have obtained it without his help,” Wen Xue replied with unnerving composure even though her body had been impaled and she was bleeding profusely.

But Wuma Hanshuang was too caught up in her anger to notice that. “So, you were using me and the Netherworld Sect right from the start?”

“Isn’t that how all relationships work? Master, why did you choose me, of all people, as your disciple? Would you have still chosen me if I lacked talent?” Wen Xue asked.

“Yes, I chose you because of your outstanding talent, but I have never let you down!”

“And that’s why I returned to look for you.”

Those words made Wuma Hanshuang lurch.

Indeed. Why did Wen Xue return to look for me when she has already gotten away?

She thought that Wen Xue had returned to redress her grievances, but instead, the latter confessed that she had been colluding with Chu Feng. So, what could Wen Xue’s agenda be? Was it just to make a fool of her?

But that was courting death!

“What are you up to?” Wuma Hanshuang asked.

“I need your help, master. My junior, Chu Feng, wishes to enter the Undying Starfield. Please lead the way for us,” Wen Xue said.

Wuma Hanshuang’s eyes blazed with murderous intent. “You want me to betray the Netherworld Sect, too?”

She clenched the hand impaling Wen Xue’s abdomen, causing the latter’s face to twist in pain.

But Wen Xue suddenly raised her head and revealed an eerie smile. “Master, are you trying to kill me?”

“You have betrayed me and the Netherworld Sect. Don’t you think you deserve to die?” Wuma Hanshuang roared through gritted teeth.

She didn’t consider Wen Xue as her disciple anymore; the latter was just an enemy. Her trust in Wen Xue had only put her and Baili Xukong into trouble.

“Go ahead and make your move, master. But be warned that if you kill me, our master-disciple ties will end right here,” Wen Xue replied.

“Master-disciple ties? How dare you say that to me?”

Pu!

Wuma Hanshuang’s martial power raged.

Wen Xue’s blood and flesh bits splattered all over the walls, the ground, and the ceiling.

Wuma Hanshuang breathed raggedly. Her anger remained unquelled despite having eliminated Wen Xue. She couldn’t understand why Wen Xue had returned to die despite having escaped.

“Master, you shouldn’t blame me for not reminiscing about our old ties then,” Wen Xue’s voice echoed.

Wuma Hanshuang was appalled. She should have destroyed Wen Xue, both body and soul!

The palace suddenly vanished.

Wuma Hanshuang found herself transported into a void.

A light appeared in the distance, and it swiftly approached Wuma Hanshuang. It was so huge that it was even larger than ordinary realms, almost resembling a sun. However, it was not a ball of fire but a sphere of pure white light.

But the white light was filled with countless gigantic lightning beasts. Unlike Chu Feng’s nine-colored lightning beasts, these were completely white.

The light sphere abruptly shrank, turning into the size of an apple in the blink of an eye before falling into the hand of a woman.

This woman had white hair, wore a white dress, and had an abnormally white and smooth complexion.

“Wen Xue?” Wuma Hanshuang called out in surprise.

This woman was taller and more mature than Wen Xue, but her facial features still bore striking resemblance to Wen Xue.

“It’s me, master,” the woman replied with a slightly different voice, though her smile was identical to Wen Xue’s.

Boom!

A powerful burst of martial power gushed at Wen Xue, but it dissipated before it could strike her.

Clang!

A God Armament saber descended from the sky to slice Wen Xue apart, but it stopped short of striking her. It was as if an invisible wall stood between the two of them.

“Who are you?” Wuma Hanshuang asked.

By now, it couldn’t have been more apparent that Wen Xue was stronger than her. Wen Xue had blocked all her attacks using her oppressive might.

On top of that, Wen Xue was emanating an extremely old aura that could usually only be found on old monsters. She was no longer a junior.

“Who am I? I am your beloved disciple, master,” Wen Xue replied with an eerie smile.

She opened her palm, revealing a sinister bug. Before Wuma Hanshuang could react, she plunged that palm into Wuma Hanshuang’s dantian.

Wuma Hanshuang’s face distorted in agony as if fighting against something.

Wen Xue tenderly stroked Wuma Hanshuang’s head, saying, “Don’t bother struggling, master. You’re doomed to become the Netherworld Sect’s traitor.”

Her smile grew increasingly twisted.
