After they departed, Feng Jiu cast a faint glance around the courtyard. With a wave of her hand, she removed the protective barrier surrounding the residence and returned to the courtyard to rest.

For reasons unknown, no one infiltrated the Huangfu residence that night.

The next morning, Huangfu Xiao arrived at the front courtyard with several trusted aides before the others had even left their rooms. Noticing that the barrier had been removed and finding only a corpse and some bloodstains on the ground, he felt a flicker of unease. He immediately ordered his men to begin cleaning up.

"Send someone out to gather intelligence on the outside. Use unfamiliar faces for the reconnaissance. Report back immediately with any news." Huangfu Xiao whispered to one of his men.

"Yes, Master." The man responded before withdrawing to make arrangements.

Huangfu Xiao headed toward the rear courtyard, intending to visit Lady Xuanyuan to inquire about the previous night. Yet halfway there, he halted and instead turned toward his daughter's quarters.

Since she still needed to treat Old Master Huangfu again today, Feng Jiu hadn't stayed up too late. When she finished washing up and stepped out of her room, Huangfu Yunxue was already bustling about.

After breakfast, the Old Patriarch Huangfu and Huangfu Xiao arrived at the courtyard. Spotting the woman seated there, they approached.

"Grandfather, Father," Huangfu Yunxue greeted them, stepping forward to offer a curtsy.

"Yunxue, you may withdraw," Huangfu Xiao instructed, motioning for her to leave.

Huángfu Yunxue glanced at Feng Jiu, who was seated there drinking tea, before responding, "Yes."

"Lady Xuanyuan," the two bowed to her.

"Have a seat," Feng Jiu invited.

The two men approached and sat down. After a moment, the Old Patriarch spoke: "Seeing that my health has improved considerably, I came to Lady Xuanyuan for treatment today. I wonder if Lady Xuanyuan received the visitor she was expecting last night?"

Truthfully, upon seeing the barrier lifted, he had already begun to suspect something. Asking her directly was merely to hear it from her own lips.

"The Specter Lord of the Specter Palace is dead. That faction should vanish soon enough." Feng Jiu toyed with her teacup as she looked at him. "Your condition requires only one more treatment today. After that, proper recuperation will see you fully restored. With matters settled, I shall depart today."

Hearing this, both of them paused slightly. Huangfu Xiao said, "Lady Xuanyuan, won't you stay a few more days? It's rare for you to visit Blazing Sun City. You probably haven't seen much of it yet. Now that matters are settled, why not stay a few more days? I'll have Yunxue accompany you to explore the city?"

"It's unnecessary. I have matters to attend to," she replied, shaking her head.

Hearing she had other commitments, they felt it inappropriate to insist further and relented.

In the courtyard, Feng Jiu administered another treatment. After a while, withdrawing her hands, she said, "After I depart, you needn't worry. No one will trouble your Huangfu family. The matter should be resolved today."

Huangfu Xiao rose to his feet and bowed deeply to her. "Thank you, Lady Xuanyuan."

The two did not linger long in her courtyard. After a brief stay, they departed. Huangfu Yunxue, who had been waiting outside, entered after they left. Watching the lady stroll leisurely through the garden, she hesitated before asking, "Are you leaving, My lady?"

Outside earlier, she had overheard their conversation—she was leaving today.

"Mhm." Feng Jiu responded softly, pausing beside the flowers and plants at the corner of the courtyard.
