Chapter 4984: Go Ahead
“Where’s Sister Mi’er?” Muchen asked, glancing at his younger sister. “Doesn’t she know Brother Song and the others are going?”
“Her Mother called her away. She probably doesn’t know. I just heard them mention it—they said they’re going to see if there are any new ingredients.” She stepped forward, grabbing both brothers’ hands and shaking them. “Big Brother, Brother, let’s go too! Please, please!” Staying here every day is so boring, and I can’t keep eating like this. Look, my tummy’s getting round.”
She patted her plump little belly and sighed with the air of a little adult: “If I get any fatter, Master won’t recognize me anymore.”
Hao’er and Muchen glanced at her, their lips curving into faint smiles. These past days here, they’d eaten all sorts of delicious and exotic foods daily. The two older brothers were fine—they knew moderation and burned calories through martial arts training, so their bodies hadn’t gained weight. But Yue’er couldn’t control her appetite or get herself moving. After just a few days, while her face remained slim, her little belly had noticeably rounded out. To them, she looked utterly adorable like this.
“Big Brother, how about we tag along? It’d be good training and a chance to stretch our legs,” Mu Chen suggested, turning to his elder brother.
“Sounds good,” Hao’er nodded. “Let’s find Sister Mi’er first. We need to discuss this with her.”
“I’ll go find Sister Mi. Big Brother, Brother, you two head to Brother Song’s courtyard first. I’ll bring Sister Mi over shortly.” Yue’er said cheerfully, springing to her feet and dashing out the door, waving excitedly at them like a bird released from its cage.
Seeing her such joy, the two brothers’ eyes softened, a hint of warmth flickering within. After tidying up, they stepped out of the courtyard.
The three Song brothers were in the midst of final discussions. As matters reached their conclusion, Song Er and Song San rose to their feet. “We’ll head back to prepare,” they said. “Once everything’s arranged, we’ll depart shortly.”
“Alright,” the eldest Song brother replied. As he rose, he spotted two figures approaching and greeted them with a smile, “What brings you here?”
“Big Brother Song, Second Brother Song, Third Brother Song.” The two bowed and addressed them by their birth order. It must be said, calling them by their birth order made them easier to remember.
“We’ve decided to take a trip. We probably won’t be able to keep you company for a while. If you want to go anywhere or try some good food, just ask Mi’er, okay?” Song Er said with a smile, looking at the two.
Hearing this, Hao’er spoke up: “Actually, we came to ask if we could go with Big Brother Song?”
“You want to come with us?” The three brothers exchanged surprised glances before replying, “That’s not advisable. This isn’t a leisure trip. The forest we’re heading to is quite dangerous, and if we need to search for food, we’ll likely venture deeper. Taking you along wouldn’t be safe.”
“Big Brother Song, rest assured. We won’t slow you down. Our master trained us early on to survive alone in dangerous forests. We can absolutely protect ourselves.” Regardless of their actual strength, the contract beasts they carried alone were enough to keep them safe in the forest.
“But…” Third Brother Song hesitated, his gaze lingering on the two. For a moment, he couldn’t make up his mind.
“Go then!” The voice of the Song Patriarch echoed through the courtyard, causing everyone present to turn their heads.
