MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 424: Lizzy’s Gamble!

Chapter 424: Lizzy’s Gamble!

“What the hell happened?!”

Jack couldn’t help but gasp as he came back to Infinite.

This wasn’t the earlier stage, for sure. He was instantly welcomed by a ginormous magical circle, one that glowed with a baleful aura as it tried to invade his soul!

— Corrupt! Corrupt! Corrupt! —

This scene was incredibly wrong!

But that wasn’t all, and he felt it a second later. Pain stabbing his chest, an energy chain with tons of energy digging into his soul so powerfully that he felt like he’d burst any moment!

And at the other end of the chain… Lizzy?!

Her scales were cracked, her tongue hanging out like a dead raccoon, and even her usually combative aura was nowhere to be found. She seemed more dead than alive?!

“What the hell did they do to you?!”

She was mounted on a cross, as if Raptor Jesus himself, all limbs nailed to a crystal pillar that oozed with her blue blood, blood that a legion of newborn lizards was happily licking.

The bastards stood at the very base, simply awaiting their sustenance to trickle down, and thanks to the weird magic, Lizzy was utterly helpless, condemned to suffer eternally.

“Shoo! Shooo! You all, get awa—”

That’s when it happened, just like that.

A second before Jack had been shooing the critters away, but then he suddenly found his spirit invading a certain lizard girl, entering her completely. And then…

[Ding! Congratulations, You Fucked Up!]

[Remnant Memories Left by Lizzy!]

[Playing Them! Please Standby!]

That’s when he BECAME Lizzy.

Fear rushed at him like a Black Friday shopper. First came the relief of the Hatching succeeding, then the despair at the infant’s state, and then the shock at the inferno.

Corpses of newborns burnt to a crisp, and their Hatchers falling to their knees in despair. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen! To make matters worse, HE intervened.

< True-Blood Crimson Shaman Overlord Than’Hos! Lv 130! ☠🦎🩸>

Lizzy felt her scales grow colder as he jumped toward Jack. Fuck, Fuck, Fuck… FUCK!

The human was doomed, and so was she! No, it was even worse than doomed! As the old shaman placed his clawed hand on the newborn head, her world shattered.

That was it, everything was over. First would come the memory extraction, and then he’d know everything, even how treacherous she had been, and then.. GAME OVER!

Her life flashed before her eyes, only for another blow to come…

“Tch— This newborn’s fried! It’s retarded, no motor functions, no cognitive ability, and no mana left either. Better kill it” As the shaman said that, her world crumbled once again.

This was the worst! Why wasn’t there anything ever going her way?! Why was it that she was always the one to suffer at every turn? Why was it— she froze.

For some reason, her heart felt… heavy?!

Shockingly, she felt… sorrow?! As she herself realized it, she was left with her jaw hanging out. Why did she feel this way? She wouldn’t care about a puny human, right?

No, it was even better for him to die right now. Sure, he wouldn’t contribute to her cause, but her secret would follow him in the grave, and she’d be able to try again later.

Yes, it was better if he died right now and then! Not only did she not raise a hand, but she even watched the shaman grab a sword and plunge it deep inside Jack’s new body!

One could say this was divine retribution, punishment for killing so many youngsters! The shaman’s attack powerfully descended like a guillotine, and— CLANG!

At the last second, it happened.

Lizzy found herself blocking his strike?!

Her body had moved instinctively, the shadow of a confident and playful Dragon-Invoked human soul flashing before her. T-This… had he put her under a spell of something?!

Seeing this, a certain shaman angrily roared:

“Hatcher Lizzy, what is the bloody meaning of this?!”

She almost chuckled. It was so goddamn dumb, but for some reason, she didn’t want to lose this human. Did she have any feelings for him? No, only the respect toward a fellow warrior.

As she pictured how valiantly he had faced her not only inside her Inner World but also in her Core World, she just couldn’t bring herself to let him die that easily.

Instead of cowering, she actually gave a respectful yet unyielding look?!

“This Hatchling of mine will definitely recover! For sure!”

She oozed so much confidence that even the shaman stilled for half an instant. But then he gave a demonic smile while murmuring, “Is that so? Let’s see your resolve, shall we?”

The playful tone? It was complete bullshit! A second later, the brutality began… no, this level of savagery couldn’t just be called brutality anymore.

— Slash! Claw! Stomp! Crush! —

The shaman didn’t even bother with spells.

He started beating the everliving shit of the poor Lizard before him, one that he’d break a thousand times until she finally gave up on this shitty retarded hatchling of hers!

He’d beat her into submission! And with this resolve, began a slaughter that would have made Lizzy’s mentor earlier beat down look like a massage!

Scales flew all over the place. A sea of her blood formed on the stage, LOTS of younglings happily swimming in it. Her fangs and claws were torn out over and over.

This was MADNESS!

There was no way she could resist this!… Or at least that’s how it should have been. The intolerable suffering? That human’s grin was even more insufferable!

Even now, she was picturing him laughing at her for being so close to giving up. No, she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction! And just like that, it kept going?!

[So Much Blood! It’s a Flood!]

[Ding! A Newborn Has Drowned!]

[Warning! NPC’s Mental State About to Collapse!]

But that’s when it all suddenly stopped, a certain shaman staring in disbelief. She had bled so much that the once happily lapping newborns were now drowning in her blood?!

That’s when he finally ended it all…

“Fine, it can live for now. But it will still have to fight in the Arena. As for your insolence? You shall atone with your body!” He stated, teleporting them to an Arena’s underground.

All that was left was a crazy gamble near impossible to win. Either the useless and retarded Newborn magically regained its spirit before the fight, or both would die!

As he nailed her to a certain crystal pillar, the shaman chuckled…

“I’ll give you one last chance. Want to murder that abomination of yours directly and be forgiven? Its spirit is done, so it’s just an empty husk!”

To which Lizzy only gave the most defiant look.

“Fine, suit yourself, dumb girl!”

And that had been the end of it. With her blood trickling out of her and her consciousness growing hazy, her last thought was a self-deprecating one.

’Since when have I grown so dumb?’ Believing in a human was truly…

Dumb? That’s only if said human was a regular one! Chuckling, Jack found himself returning to his body, a look of approval flashing before his eyes.

“You may have grown dumber, but you became wiser!”

The wisdom to actually trust in her guts.

The perceptiveness to believe in him.

The resolve to die for her beliefs.

“Sigh, guess I can’t die, now can I?” Sighing, Jack glared at the newborns nearby, the latter screeching in fear as they stopped drinking her blood and left her alone.

As they cleared a path for him, Jack approached her on his shaky legs, placing a hand on the curse affecting her. [Ding! Too Weak to Dispel!] Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy.

And seeing him struggle, the critters seemingly came back to their senses, angrily glaring at him as if he had killed their family! Or actually, he kinda did.

’That bastard, he’s the one that killed them all!’

’So what if he’s scary? We’re many!’

’We’ll devour him for sure!’

’Devour and Evolve!”

The critters actually looked at the nearby arena gates with eagerness. They weren’t that smart, but they knew that they’d have a chance to defeat him in the fight to come!

Besides, the shaman had mentioned this hateful lizard being crippled, right?

Screeches all around, and an oppressive underground eager to swallow him whole! They were simply waiting for the fight that they instinctively knew would come.

And it bloody freaking did!

— DING! DING! —

The sound of discordant bells, then the clanging of chains as an entire pang of the wall suddenly exploded open… just in time for a strange energy to push them all out?!

That’s when Jack finally saw what the shaman had meant.

[Welcome to the Bloodletting Arena!]

[Only the Strong will Survive!]

[Survive the Free for All!]

Free for all?! Jack could already feel endless glares coming from his enemies. Not only had he been the “strongest” up until recently, but he was definitely the most hated, too!

A certain shaman presiding over the event didn’t even hide it either…

“Oh? It actually woke up? Shame, it’s mana core’s completely shattered.” He casually revealed just how weak Jack currently was, cementing his position as the main target!

“Now, let the feast begin…”
