MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 457: See the Orchards...

Chapter 457: See the Orchards…

At the 12th Legion base…

Madness, this was freaking madness!

Any lizard that saw the state of the 12th Legion’s base suddenly turned pale, their eyes bulging and their knees trembling from the shock. What bloody hell had happened here?!

The reddish fiery scene had turned bright blue, the blue of Lizardman blood! Then there were the corpses, countless of them, most of the time in pieces, their grime leaking.

This wasn’t a base. This was a nightmare!

The stench of death and literal pools of blood!

Then, there was the crazed being that stood in the middle.

A white lizard that seemed so weak at first glance stood alone in the ocean of corpses, a small bonfire before him as he peacefully grilled some unknown meat.

Was he the one who had slaughtered them all alone?! He HAD to be: there was no one else around! What kind of terrifying monster was this?! Many cried in fright.

Hearing them, Jack glanced their way….

“Oh? Visitors? How fun!”

Fun? There was nothing fun about him!

He was akin to a snake looking at mice, his gaze so powerful that they cowered under it. Yet, little did they know that he was the one actually feeling the pressure.

Weren’t those guys a little too quick? How had they tracked their base so fast? But that’s when he saw the pitiful lizard they were carrying along.

That’s when his heart broke.

Scales missing, blood oozing out, the signs of torture, but most importantly or resisting torture! They had tried getting the info out of him and had failed.

Before he knew it, Jack found himself heading toward them, the glowing base crystal lightning up behind him, giving him an unfathomable look.

Seeing him approach, they hurriedly cried out:

“STOP! We have your brethren!”

“My pawn, you mean?”

“Your—”

As Jack corrected them, they froze. The disinterest in his eyes couldn’t be faked! Not only did he not stop, but he even started whistling as he devoured them with his eyes!

He was akin to a Leecher seeing a naked goddess for the first time.

He was akin to a Dragon having seen a treasure of gold!

He was akin to a Hunter having found his prey!

“FUCK this! Ruuuunnnnnn!”

They discarded their ’hostage’ and ran!

Hundreds of them reached the same conclusion, and they collectively went NOPE! They were courageous but not mad! And even a distance away, their hearts still thundered.

“What the hell was THAT?!”

“Wasn’t the 12th Legion supposed to be weak?!”

“What if there’s so few of them because he killed them all?!”

Could a single lizard really do all that carnage? Had they not seen it with their eyes, they would never have believed it, but now they weren’t so sure!

“Is this because it’s the last Lizardgeddon? No, this doesn’t make sense even then. All the memories received should have been similar, right?” But that’s one of them gasped.

????

“W-What if he hoarded it!”

Hoarded it? Ah! What if he consumed ALL the opportunities of the 12th Legion alone? That would start to explain his crazy state. But then one actually started laughing?!

“You, are you alright? Have you gone mad?”

“Gone mad? No, but I can see the future!”

“WHAT?!—”

Had a 5th Legion lizard suddenly awakened a new power? Not at all. He was still the same hunter as before, but one that suddenly had an insight of genius.

If the 12th Legion had done it, then why couldn’t they? Who else were better suited than hunters to bait? No one, as long as they put their minds to it!

“Maybe that madman killed them all alone. Maybe he didn’t. But there’s an easy way to find out! Are you all thinking what I’m thinking? We HUNT!”

And that was the precise moment the entire trial changed. Jack had opened the door to deviousness! They’d turn this evaluation on its head as they followed his example!

As for him, he was still at the 12th Legion’s base.

He changed as soon as the invaders were gone, all coldness leaving his eyes. As he delicately picked up his fallen soldier, the latter struggled to speak, coughing blood.

“I’m sorry. I tried, but…”

“You did good. Don’t worry. Rest.”

“Rest? Rest feels nice. Hehe, I can see the apples…”

By now, the poor lizard’s eyes had already stopped working, yet he could see the orchards brighter than ever. They were beckoning him till his very last breath.

Jack couldn’t help but feel it in his soul as the lizard expired in his arms. “Don’t worry. I don’t know how or when. But I’ll make it happen. I’ll bring you to the Orchards.”

This foolish lizard deserved that much…

“System. Let me bring him!”

[Error! Corpse Cannot Fit in Inventory!]

[Error! Corpse Cannot Fit in Inventory!]

[Error! Corpse Cannot Fit in Inventory!]

No matter how many times he smashed the button, it didn’t do anything. Anyone else would have given up, yet Jack stubbornly changed strategy and instead….

BLERG!

BLERG!

BLERG!

Outside, many spectators started vomiting.

Jack suddenly waved his claws expertly, every strike sending shivers down the spine of anyone watching. He didn’t mind it one bit, as he kept carving his own soldier up?!

What kind of craziness was this?! Anyone with any morals would have long screamed at him to stop, and yet he kept going, and going, and going until the scales took shape…

[Created Fallen Lizard Statue!]

[Error! Error! Error! Necromancy Activating!]

[Carving Leveled UP! Body Creation Leveled UP!]

And at the same time, a disappearing soul got sucked in!

The statue? It wasn’t just any statue, but one now containing the soul of his fallen subordinate! With a nod, Jack resolved to give him peace once the time came.

But as down as he felt, he suddenly raised his eyes as he glanced at the horizon, an uneasy feeling overwhelming his heart. It was only a matter of time.

The 5th Legion would be back!

The 2nd Legion would find their stolen dead!

The 11th Legion would want to avenge themselves, too!

He had to get things ready, or he’d die FAR before realizing the promise he had just made. While sighing profoundly, he reminded himself of why he was here in the first place.

“Apples, was it? I want pumpkins….”
