My Werewolf System

Chapter 1265 - 1265: A Mix Of Minds

Kai had heard Midwak out, everything he needed to say, and it was safe to say that he believed his word, every last bit of it. Now the question was, what was he meant to do with the information he had.

“If what you’re saying is true, how much time do we even have?” Kai asked. “Why didn’t she just turn them straight away if she wanted to add them to her forces?”

“She won’t do it,” Midwak said. “To her, the timing of everything is very important in her plan. Right now, Lupus doesn’t even know about the two of them being captured. So they will be a surprise to spring on him. With the war going on, it would be a mess to have them involved now.”

Kai had almost forgotten, not every Alpha had a system screen. That was unique to Gary. So when the two were turned, Lupus would have no idea that two more members had entered his pack.

“I can help,” Midwak said. “I… helped both of them. I can take you to where they are, if she’s still there, then maybe I can distract her in some way.”

Kai didn’t answer immediately. Although he believed Midwak, he didn’t know if he could fully trust him.

“There are still things that I’m not clear about,” Kai replied. “What are you doing here? How did you even find me, and why are you on your own?”

Midwak pointed to his nose. “Your smell. When you transformed, I knew where you were. Even if you don’t trust me, remember we’re part of the same Pack. So I can tell your smell from everyone else’s as well.

“As for why I was here… I was with Ylva not long ago. In my story I told you how she liked to frequent a garden, right? Well, that garden doesn’t belong to her, but another Ironfang member.

“When they were on the move, I asked to travel with them, but I never planned to help them. When they were close, I broke off from them. They didn’t care, as I’m not really part of their group, and to be honest, even if Ylva trusts me, I don’t think the rest do either.

“But we have to hurry. Right now, the Ironfang is not at the garden, so even if Ylva is there, it’s our best chance to save them.”

Kai was still debating on what to do—what was the best choice. He was abandoning the mission, but he was doing so in hopes that he could find Quinn. Right then, he stood on the rooftop, allowing the wind to blow in his face.

He was hoping it would help him make a better decision, but that’s when he noticed something. Around the garden, he could see movement.

‘There was movement before—from the hotels, more had moved in. Trixie and their group were getting ambushed. But there’s movement happening right now… and there seems to be quite a few of them as well.’

The situation that was occurring in front of him was distracting him, and he was trying to figure out just why it was—until it sunk into his head.

Immediately he turned around. “That group you traveled with, the Ironfang you said, where were they heading?”

“To that garden that you are looking at right now,” Midwak answered.

Kai turned around again. It made perfect sense why Midwak was in the area now, but there was an even bigger worry on his mind.

“But… in the garden itself, were there already Werewolves present? Do you know about the set-up?”

“I do,” Midwak answered, wondering why Kai was panicking, but he answered his question. “There was already an Ironfang sent here, but all of the Ironfangs were sent to the front. So the one I was with, her name is Ivy, she is here as well.”

It was just as Kai had feared. Right now in the garden, there were two groups of Werewolves. That was why he had seen so much movement. Two groups of Werewolves also meant that there were two Ironfangs.

‘With Trixie, and so few Altered Hunters, I thought it was fifty-fifty whether or not they could beat just one of them. But now you’re saying that there’s two Ironfangs. Even with Kim, with how strong she is, I don’t think they will be able to take two of them and that many Werewolves,’ Kai thought.

Eventually, Midwak decided to stand on the edge of the hotel along with Kai, wondering what he was looking at so deeply.

“What’s wrong… are you really wondering whether you should go save Innu and Blake? I know Ylva is strong, maybe stronger than me now that she is a Luna, but with both of us, we can definitely do something,” Midwak stated.

It was quite hard for him to admit that—that Ylva was even stronger than him. But he had to be realistic about the situation they might be going into.

“I’m not undecided about that,” Kai said.

In his head, the scene kept playing out—the smiling Trixie had as they walked and talked to each other. How she had stuck up for him as well in the hotel a couple of times. And finally, the last words she said, where she had told him to run.

‘Why… why… why did she have to do that?’ Kai thought.

“Midwak,” Kai eventually said. “I hate owing debts to people, and I feel like I owe a debt to a certain someone. You said, Blake and Innu—they won’t be turned anytime soon, right?”

“Not until all of this fighting with the Altered Hunters is over, no,” Midwak answered.

“Good. If you really want to show that you didn’t betray us, then I need you to come with me.”
