Chapter 2712: Defending Avalon I

A fun fact about evil eyes is that those that have it will be immune to other evil eye effects despite having different abilities. The divine being called Balor’s Evil Eye is called the Evil Eye of Smite. It is a powerful evil eye that could decimate life using the power of natural curses. This evil eye comes with a downside though as it will render all the beings that the owner sees as targets.

Due to its uncontrollable nature, those that possess the Evil Eye of Smite would need to close their eyes. One might think that using the Evil Eye of Smite would make one the ruler of the world but it comes with great stamina draining costs. Just one use of the Evil Eye of Smite would greatly drain the stamina of the eye holder. The stamina drain would be much bigger if the enemy is stronger than the eye holder.

Another cool thing about Evil Eyes is that it is very rare and other users of evil eyes could steal it from another user. One way of stealing the power of an evil eye is to kill the previous holder of the evil eye but that would not be possible for players. Another way is to physically detach the eye of the evil eye user and transplant it to another host. The last way is to use a unique spell of Transference that can transplant the magic circle embedded in the eye to another host.

What Adrian plans to do is physically detach the eye from the divine being before him. He did not waste anytime and unleased all of his soulbounds to defend the territory. The enemy has brought quite a sizeable army of treants of different strengths but his soulbounds along with the elves can take them down.

“I shall let you take care of that horseman, sister.” Adrian stated as the only ones that are present in the territory are his sister and Lycan.

The other guild members immediately scattered when they finished dealing with the previous raid. They were all busy with their own unique quests that Adrian did not want to bother them. He did tell the guild members that the territory is currently under attack and they should reinforce it if they are not tangled in anything. The core members are gone doing their own thing but there are still some members joining in the fight and defending the territory.

“I came here because I needed some help with my quest in becoming a True Vampire Queen but it seems one of the requirements has presented itself. I guess I am quite lucky if I do say so myself. Divine beings just so happen to attack the territory that I cherish and developed. I need to punish such insolent beings and make them bleed.” Solstice stated as the requirement she needs is the Blood of a Divine Being.

“Shall we dance with the enemy, my love?” Lycan stated as both him and Solstice charged towards Bress.

Adrian flew towards the Divine Being called Balor without any hesitation but he did have big grin on his face. Some of the treants tried to block him using their large tree appendages but he easily summoned his scythe and proceeded to trim them. The sharpness of his scythe easily sliced through the bodies of the treants as they are only made of wood. Still, the bodies of the treants that were called by the Fomorians are all sturdy as steel.

“Do you think that you can defeat me just because my evil eye does not work on you, demon?!” Balor stated as he materialized his weapon.

The weapon that Balor uses is a large wooden club that is filled to the brim with natural curses. Adrian might be immune to the natural curses that is afflicted by an evil eye but he is not immune to other sources. Balor swung his large wooden club with great speed but Adrian simply vanished from his current location. Balor’s attack did not hit anything and only hit air as the target has already vanished.

Adrian then appeared instantly behind Balor and aimed for his neck. The scythe that could easily slice through the steel hardened bark of the treants suddenly hit something sturdier. The blade of the scythe rung as it sent the vibration of the clash to Adrian’s hands. Upon checking closely, the body part of Balor that was supposed to be sliced through is suddenly transformed into a pitch-black patchy armor.

Adrian wanted to do a follow up attack but Balor is quick despite his large size. The wooden club has already changed directions to hit Adrian who is behind him. Adrian vanished once again near one of the treants and cut it down before observing Balor. The divine being before him is sturdier than Elder Bronx which means barely any weapon would be able to scratch the body of Balor.

“Where is that confidence now, demon?! Your weapon could not even scratch by body that is honed by underground pressure.” Balor stated but Adrian also noticed that the former has never opened his eyes from their earlier exchange.

“It seems he has another form of sight. I need to blind him first in order to try checking for a weakness. Dark Matter!” Adrian stated as he released a burst of dark matter that created silhouettes of all enemies which is akin to a shadow.

These manifestations created by Adrian managed to give some breathing time to the elves and warriors that joined in defending the territory. The elves might be nimble in the battlefield but the enemies that they are facing now have great regeneration. Still, Adrian is not scared of what might happen because there are other secret warroirs of Avalon.

Some treants that take the form of nimble monsters were able to get close to Avalon but they needed to cross the lake below it. The Deep Ones that rarely show hostility when they moved to Avalon suddenly released their ferociousness once more. The Deep Ones are usually quirky and cheerful to visitors of Avalon but they are menaces to those that try destroy it.

One of the Deep One Shamans even wielded the water of lake to a great degree and dragged all of the treants that managed to get pass the defense line. One would think that water would be ineffective against treants since they are made of wood or plants but the lake where the Deep Ones live has a special property. The lake below Avalon becomes incredibly toxic to other beings except the Deep Ones when the territory is under siege.

Treants could not believe seeing their kin, that takes sustenance from water, is now drowning right before them. Some treants avoided the lake passage and opted to create wings made of leaves and branches. Flight would have been ideal but only a few treants could do so and the few that can are all burned down. Saena controlled the skies above Avalon and she now uses her newfound abilities that can create solar flares.

Saena is the Guardian of the Tree of Life and Death and is incredibly powerful when defending it. Her stats are basically doubled when she is in Avalon and it makes her Adrian’s strongest soulbound when in the territory. She is the reason why there are two divine beings attacking Avalon as one should be battling her while the other one is battling the Arch Demons. Unfortunately for the enemy, the information that they have been given is outdated which resulted in the battle occurring now.

Once Adrian grasped the overall battlefield, he once again focused on the battle with Balor. The large cyclops looking divine being opened his eyes once again. Balor used his evil eye on the players that tried to launch an attack on him. The power of the evil eye is something else as all of the players hit by it suddenly melted due to the natural curses. Adrian could only breathe a sigh of relief that he is immune to the enemy’s evil eye but that also meant that Balor is immune to Adrian’s as well.

“I cannot see his soul which means I cannot see a direct weakness. To think that I will have an enemy at the level of gods that is immune to my evil eye. I need to learn in this battle which means I need to change my scope of attack.” Adrian muttered as he changed his weapon to that of the Twin Daggers.

Adrian felt different than before because all of his spells now use Origin Energy by default. Usually, his own mana would need to change to the specific element but it is no longer the case. All of his spells can now be cast without delay as long as he knows the magic circle and has the resources to cast it. This also meant that the rare tier spells that Adrian has like Enhanced Blink can now be used in succession with only a short cooldown after three simultaneous uses.
