Chapter 2724: The Frozen Kingdom Under Siege I

“What are we going to do then, sister? We are not really equipped to fight them in areas where their divine power is at full capacity.” One of the Valkyries asked.

“You are correct which is why I am thinking of using an ambush while they are all installing the stone slabs. It does not matter if it will take quite a number of us to attack one or two gods. The most important thing that we need to do is hinder their advancement. Feel free to also pitch in other ideas, sisters.” Brunhild stated which the others agreed.

“We could uproot one of the stone slabs to study it. Maybe we can reverse it and even harm Asgard in the process.” Frey added.

“That is also a valid option, Sister Frey. We can attack one area where it is less guarded so that we can at least know what they have installed. Others can create a diversion while a smaller squad extracts one of those stone slabs.” Brunhild stated.

BOOM!

“We are under attack! The kingdom is under attack!” One of the Valkyries standing guard outside shouted as she entered the council room.

The Valkyries were holding their meeting when a powerful explosion resounded from the outside. The entirety of the barrier protecting the kingdom of the Ice Witch actually shook. This meant that the one that attacked the barrier is at least at the level of a god.

Dark clouds suddenly started to swirl above the frozen kingdom ruled by the Ice Witch Elona. This is not a rare occurrence as darker clouds are more common in the northern continent. The blazing rays of the sun is considered the rare occurrence here as dark clouds and gloomy weather is the norm. The only problem is that this dark cloud is not something that is naturally created.

At the center of the swirling dark clouds is a blonde man with a divine hammer that can call upon thunder and lightning. Thunder and lightning gathered in an unnatural pace that the dark sky would light up every other second from the crackle of immense energy. When the God of Thunder Thor was satisfied with the energy that he has gathered, he released the relentless torrent of energy upon the kingdom below it.

“BREAK! HEAVENLY THUNDER!” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he released the fury of the skies upon the barrier.

The entire barrier around the kingdom shook as cracks started to appear. The torrential pouring of lightning is not the only thing that created such a disaster but the surge induced by it further weakened the cracks. The barrier itself is made from the coldness of winter that is being emitted from the cold ground of the north but the lightning emitted heat that can thaw out such frigid cold.

The barrier held even if the attack of the God of Thunder Thor was immense and powerful. Just as another powerful spell is about to be released by the God of Thunder Thor, the barrier glowed with a large magic circle. This magic circle contained the essence of True Ice which is a power that the Ice Witch Elona has mastered. Before the God of Thunder Thor could make a move, a powerful blast of true ice energy hit him directly and sent him flying away or that is what should have happened.

The counterattack of the barrier was blocked by two other gods that came to help the God of Thunder Thor. The God of War Tyr and the Goddess of Eart Sif managed to block the counter spell of the barrier which is the Blizzard spell. Still, the counterattack against the Aesir gods did not stop as the Ice Witch Elona herself has finally shown herself.

“Gods of the Forgotten World. Leave now or suffer the consequences of your futile action!” The Ice Queen Elona appeared before the gods in her battle mage uniform.

The Ice Queen Elona called the Aesir Gods as the Gods of the Forgotten World because that is what they are. They have been forgotten by most of the of the people in the northern continent as the Vanir gods are truly the one that has garnered the faith of the people. Even the smaller tribes have already focused their faith onto the Vanir gods as they are the ones responding to all their prayers for harvest.

“Witch of Eternal Frost, bow down and you shall keep your kingdom as a vassal.” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he revealed himself donning his enchanted armor.

“You expect me to hand over my kingdom to gods that do not even bother to help in times of need. Did you really think that the decay that happened to Asgard does not have correlation to all of your laziness as gods? The north has long been barren but only the Vanir gods heard our plea despite their overall power weaker than the Aesir gods.” The Ice Queen Elona stated.

The words stated by the Ice Queen Elona struck a nerve to the three gods because that is what the Goddess of Life Freyja told them. The people of the northern continent have been suffering and the gods that they have once prayed to have rarely responded. Back then the Aesir gods would have chosen champions amongst the tribes to make their lives easier but they have forsaken that.

The Aesir gods have suddenly turned their blessings into transactions instead of acknowledging a mortal being that could carry on their will. The Aesir gods have grown too proud over the years that they have forgotten that the mortals that believed in them need them the most. The only reason why the smaller tribes in the northern continent became safe is due to the fact that the Vanir gods despite being weaker have chosen chieftains to become their champions. The Vanir gods might be gods that are not famed for their fighting abilities but they are still gods that can bless mortals to empower them.
