Chapter 480 480: The Only Viable Method
Zenobia had clearly lost her mind completely.
She had already been thrown off balance by her battle with Silent Dark Shadow.
The moment she saw Luca, her rage flared up again.
Her already unstable state spun completely out of control.
She gave up chasing Silent Dark Shadow and charged straight toward Luca.
When faced with Zenobia’s attack, Luca didn’t choose to run. He decided to meet her head-on.
“You’ve never beaten me before—what makes you so sure you can defeat me this time? My condition isn’t great, but I’m still confident I can beat you!”
Luca said in an easy, almost casual tone.
He hoped this would make Zenobia think twice.
As long as Zenobia held back in the coming fight, he could stall until reinforcements arrived.
Luca knew full well that the people of the Imperial Capital must have sensed the presence of the two Chaos deities.
Whatever their agendas, they would choose to drive those two Chaos deities away.
After all, protecting the Imperial Capital was in everyone’s best interests!
Sure enough, Luca’s words infuriated Zenobia.
As she barreled toward Luca, Zenobia kept roaring at him.
“The only reason you beat me before was because you used tricks and schemes! Today, you’ll have no chance to play your dirty games!
I’ll use the might of Chaos to crush you completely, then subject you to eternal torment! I’ll make you regret ever becoming my enemy!”
As her words fell, Zenobia had already closed to within less than fifty meters of Luca.
At this range, Zenobia could play to her strengths to the fullest.
She immediately assumed her demon serpent form.
Countless pairs of serpent eyes fixed on Luca, and at the same time a powerful curse was laid directly upon him.
Luca could feel as if his very soul had been torn apart.
Searing pain kept lancing through him from every part of his body.
Even so, he wasn’t overly rattled, because he had long since adapted to this sort of attack.
“Looks like you’re not much different from before. You think an attack like that can beat me? I’ve already adapted to your methods!”
As he spoke, a band of silvery-white light wrapped around Luca.
The silvery-white glow came from the defensive magic runes he activated, and it absorbed the bulk of the curse’s power.
At the same time, snowflakes began to fall from the sky.
When Luca came under attack, Sophia cast her frost magic.
Although those frost spells couldn’t pose much of a threat to Zenobia, they could at least disrupt her movements.
Zenobia grew even more deranged.
Burning with the urge to utterly defeat Luca, she unleashed all her power without hesitation.
Under Zenobia’s all-out assault, Luca felt immense pressure.
After all, he still hadn’t recovered to peak condition.
Sensing he was about to be defeated by Zenobia, he chose to activate the Origin Holy Grail.
The power stored within the Origin Holy Grail was drawn out in an instant.
That force made the silvery-white light encircling Luca flare to a blinding brilliance.
In her demon-serpent form, Zenobia was forced to shut most of her many eyes.
Seizing the opening, Luca gripped Starseeker and launched a close-quarters strike at Zenobia.
When Starseeker cleaved into Zenobia, she let out a howl of pain.
Her wail cut through the air with tremendous, piercing force.
Before long, everyone across the Imperial Capital’s urban district heard that howl.
Everyone realized a ferocious battle was raging on the outskirts of the Imperial Capital.
Even so, no one went to the outskirts, fearing that getting drawn into the fight would put them in extreme danger.
Luca had still given these people too much credit.
He had thought they would help him defend the Imperial Capital.
In reality, they didn’t even want to defend the Imperial Capital; they only hoped others would charge to the front to defend the Imperial Capital while they conserved their own strength.
Although Luca had inflicted some damage on Zenobia, her power had by no means been fully weakened.
The battle between them was fiercely deadlocked.
After the fight dragged on for a quarter of an hour, Luca finally came to his senses.
He realized no one was going to come to his aid.
“Looks like everyone else plans to just watch from the sidelines!”
Luca let out a cold laugh as he spoke.
“Then what are we supposed to do? Without anyone else’s help, we have no chance of leaving the battlefield!”
Sophia’s anxious voice came through.
She was genuinely terrified.
She knew that if she were to be defeated by Zenobia, her fate would certainly be worse than Luca’s.
Luca didn’t answer Sophia’s question, because he didn’t know what to do either.
For Luca right now, the only option was to take it one step at a time.
Not far from Luca and Zenobia’s battleground, a cold, pitiless gaze was fixed on the two combatants.
That cold, pitiless gaze, of course, belonged to Silent Dark Shadow.
It didn’t choose to flee the battlefield.
After realizing that Zenobia had made Luca her primary target, it quietly hid along the edges of the battlefield.
It watched the entire fight between Zenobia and Luca.
Both sides had been significantly weakened, and Silent Dark Shadow judged itself stronger than both Zenobia and Luca.
“Looks like this is a great chance to wipe them both out at once! Zenobia says she has a shot at ruling two worlds—absolutely impossible!
Because the only one with a chance to rule both worlds is me! All I have to do is wait a little longer, and Zenobia and Luca will wear each other down to the point where I can crush them with ease!”
Silent Dark Shadow was exhilarated.
The chance to become the sole Chaos deity of the realm of evil was right within reach.
All it needed to do was wait patiently.
But just then, the situation suddenly changed.
A mass of vines burst up from the opposite edge of the field, weaving together into a humanoid shape.
Councilor Devitt appeared on the battlefield.
He, too, had actually been watching for quite some time.
At first, Councilor Devitt wasn’t sure how strong Luca really was.
After his previous cooperation with Zenobia had ended in a crushing defeat, he didn’t dare make a move against Luca again so lightly.
But after observing carefully for a while, he confirmed that Luca was much weaker than before.
And Zenobia, too, had grown weakened by her clash with Luca.
Under those circumstances, the safest course was to join forces with Zenobia once more.
“Didn’t expect this, did you? I’ve shown up at your weakest moment! This time you won’t luck out and beat me again!”
At the very moment Councilor Devitt revealed himself, he shouted at Luca at the top of his lungs.
He did it to vent the anger boiling inside him.
Zenobia and Luca both turned their eyes toward Councilor Devitt.
Zenobia’s excitement was written all over her face.
“Perfect. I thought you’d crawl into a hole and never show yourself again! Since you’re here, then hurry up and make your move. We can use this chance to wipe Luca out for good!”
Zenobia didn’t hesitate to bring Councilor Devitt straight into the fight.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Councilor Devitt transformed into a mass of vines and surged rapidly toward Luca.
Although Luca could still keep his cool, the pressure on the field had grown beyond what he could handle.
While fending off two attackers, he kept thinking calmly.
“There’s only one viable option left! I absolutely cannot allow these enemies infused with powerful Chaos to remain in the real world!”
Luca said quickly to Sophia.
Sophia was slightly puzzled. She could understand Luca’s thinking, but she still didn’t know what he was going to do.
Right then, Silent Dark Shadow suddenly joined the battle.
Countless black mists billowed around the field.
Zenobia, Luca, and Councilor Devitt were all affected.
Zenobia was especially furious.
“You damned coward! You held back before and waited until Luca was about to be finished off by me to make your move!
I will never let you have your way. I will never let you be the one to kill Luca—Luca can only be killed by me!”
Zenobia immediately discerned Silent Dark Shadow’s intent.
But her words had no effect whatsoever.
Silent Dark Shadow charged straight at Luca at top speed.
In its eyes, as long as it could reach Luca’s side, it could kill him outright.
Luca was preternaturally calm.
He had thought the countermeasure he’d come up with was a bit risky.
But after Silent Dark Shadow entered the fray, he realized he truly had no chance of defeating the enemy.
At that moment, he suddenly showed a faint smile.
“Since you all want to kill me, then I’ll let you know what the consequences of killing me might be!”
Luca said evenly.
As he finished speaking, he tore the Origin Holy Grail apart.
The power within the Origin Holy Grail was unleashed in full.
The raging force shattered the seal on the nexus between the Eternal World and the real world.
As the conduit reopened, Luca, Zenobia, Silent Dark Shadow, and Councilor Devitt were all sucked into the passage.
In this way, Luca took all the powerful enemies back to the Eternal World.
