Chapter 1978 Chapter 1970: The Eye's Objective
Outer Stellar Battlefield of War.
The stench of freshly shed blood tainted the air, carried by the howling winds of despair and agony. Death loomed omnipresently like a divinity's gaze, erupting without warning, and resisted desperately by mortals. The battlefield was a ruthless place not meant for the faint of heart, dissuading fair maidens and cunning merchants alike.
However, standing amidst a field of corpses alongside a group of others was known other than a woman that was once classified as both-Ma Sujiang! Her battle-worn countenance betrayed her grave experiences, and her vigilant, rich pair of eyes exposed the tragedy of carelessness. Wiping blood from her cheeks, she spat out a wad of congested phlegm and blood onto the ground, landing on the face of a human male corpse.
She was once the beloved and favored daughter of the Golden Life Pavilion. Now, she stood amidst the corpses of Ascended beings. The last few years have been the greatest period of growth and adversity in her entire life. She'd witnessed true geniuses of cultivation excel to the heavens and the miraculous powers of a Seer and Alchemist.
"Here," a valiant figure garbed in soft, dull golden armor handed her a crystalline waterskin. This was an action she was long since familiar with as Ma Sujiang reached over, took the waterskin, drinking its contents as she felt the nourishing elixir replenish her exhausted mystic energies.
"Thanks, Mingna." Ma Sujiang handed the waterskin back after consuming enough for immediate digestion. She looked back at the sky. A raging battle of Ascended beings unfolded under the suppression and pressure of the Battlefield. She had only recently retreated down from that terrifying region of conflict, long since familiar with returning below to rest.
Wen Mingna glanced at the waterskin as if measuring its remaining quantity before keeping it by her side. She looked to the sky. There, two cultivators blessed by great fortune fought against many others, dominating without equals as they waged war against the skies.
Ma Sujiang deeply inhaled, exhaling a heavy breath. "They'll kill them," she voiced out confidently.
Wen Mingna didn't respond, only gazing at the sky above, which was a raging tempest of mystic power and mystic force. The two Blessed, Tian Yinwu and San Yongli, were allowing their path of fortune to unfold as they clashed against a unit of brutal killers whose aura of sin was rich and vast despite their cultivation bases as Mystic Star Phase cultivators.
It's only been a few years, and despite the revelation of the new Defiant-sized Solar Star, the duo had used a subspace within their camp, a safe zone away from the suppression and pressure, to advance their cultivation bases to the Mystic Star Phase, the first stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, and jointly became Commanders. Supporting them was none other than Tian Xiaolu and the elven alchemist, Qingye Ying, from the Battlefield of Order.
Ma Sujiang, for example, had died twice already. Many of their allies perished. If not for their timely aid of offering Creation Value there to instigate resurrections via temporal reversions, they would have stayed dead. Wen Mingna hadn't experienced death, and she didn't intend to.
However, their small group ballooned as those two gathered strange and extraordinary allies from all over, forming a large-scale Legion. The natural charisma to gain the allegiance of the extraordinary amidst this bloody, brutal battlefield was a remarkable trait that these two possessed. Moreover, they seemed to leverage their advantages.
Recently, their group had acquired the attention of another-a group of Commanders, and had been schemed against them, causing the deaths of a few of their members. If not for Tian Xiaolu and Qingye Ying's extraordinary prowess in alchemy, they might have stayed dead. Right now, the final hours of their grudge were coming to an end as San Yongli and Tian Yinwu reverse-schemed, setting up a killing trap to get every Commander.
Meanwhile, they've coordinated with Tian Xiaolu and Qingye Ying to target their Creationists all at once, preventing any resurrection attempt. They were relentless, and the sky above was tainted by the hue of despairing blood of their enemies.
Wen Mingna executed a hand-seal, grasping a string of fate, seeking to glimpse into its outcome. As she expected: Victory. She didn't delve deeper, only awaiting the final outcome. And as if answering her heartfelt desire for a conclusion, a roar of unwilling rage thundered across the skies as sword light and fire light flashed in perfect unity. The dying wail of a Highlord of Mysticism shook the sky.
When the dust settled, two figures of outstanding bearing and otherworldly appearance that could stir the hearts of men and women descended. Behind them was a group of Mystic Ascendant Realm cultivators who had worked with them in tandem to eliminate their enemies.
Wen Mingna offered San Yongli a smile, handing her the crystalline waterskin. She didn't ask if everything was settled. She could sense their rising valuation of karmic fortune acquired from slaying the condemned sinners in the eyes of the Heavenly Daos. They had overcome this task of the heavens, eliminating those commandment- breaking blight stains.
Tian Yinwu glanced at Wen Mingna, this Heavenly Seer who had assisted in gathering allies and seeking out great fortune and advantages. She was instrumental to their rapid growth, and only reinforced his belief that a competent Seer and Alchemist was required to forge a solid path in cultivation. "You were right, Seer Wen. They failed to sense our approach, falling into a trap of their own making."
San Yongli took a heavy sip, allowing the nourishing liquid to replenish her spent strength. "With that finished, shall we go further?"
Tian Yinwu nodded decisively. He checked his companions and the arm that had grown from little to something absolutely amazing, consisting mostly of top-tier geniuses.
"Let's go. The Nexus Battlefield is our next stop." Under his instructions, the army began to gather itself into a travel formation.
Wen Mingna suddenly stopped, her eyes glinting with a shimmering light as she eyed a region nearby. She had an imperceptible curl of her lips.
"Is something wrong?" San Yongli noticed Wen Mingna's change in expression. However, Wen Mingna remained unfazed after being noticed, delivering a pleasantly neutral expression.
She answered, "Nothing wrong. Just saw someone."
"Someone?" San Yongli glanced in the direction that Wen Mingna looked, unable to observe anything.
"They're not here yet. But they will be," her words were rather cryptic, but San Yongli was familiar with the future- gazing powers of Seers, so she only accepted this vague explanation before turning her attention elsewhere.
Wei Wuyin stood in the exact spot that Wen Mingna looked at, but not during that time, but far into the future. After using his Temporal Eye to peer into the past, observing the events that had unfolded a long time ago, she had caught his scent through the flow of time. An utterly exceptional display and mastery of her divination abilities.
That said, he wasn't attempting to conceal his actions either. "So I'm late?" Wei Wuyin thought that he would meet Wen Mingna here, but she entered the Nexus Battlefield alongside Tian Yinwu and San Yongli.
Tilly Winehart pursed her lips in the background. She wasn't violating any rules by bringing Wei Wuyin to the Battlefield of War, but she felt overly cautious.
Just as he was about to depart, allowing Tilly to breathe a sigh of relief, seeking to relocate to the Outer Stellar Battlefield of Order where zones were divided by galactic regions, he caught a familiar glint of golden light and scent. Sweeping the region, he located its source.
With a flash, he arrived beside a shattered sword. Narrowing his eyes, he sent his spiritual sense within and what he received back was enough to cause his entire expression to change. "She..."
He reached out. A dot of condensed golden light was extracted from the sword and kept immediately within his Primordial Expanse. The dot of light hovered by its own power, enveloping the region in the purest heavenly radiance that he had ever seen! Not even Microheavens that he had acquired or surgically worked on was remotely close to this level of purity. Not. Even. Close!
'Is this...a piece of heaven?'
Wen Mingna's mission...
Suddenly, the Bai Xius, Athena, and Element grew incredibly hyperactive, and a desire surged from within their every Existential Frameworks. It was only a small dot, barely equivalent to a grain of sand, yet their reactions were primal and intense.
"Hahaha! Good girl!" Wei Wuyin laughed heartily. Not even he dared to extract this piece, yet not only had she done so, but she kept it secure and hidden, awaiting for his arrival. What...what a woman!
"You're going to give me an incredible surprise, aren't you?"
