Chapter 1241: Proposal
Chapter 1241: Proposal
His fingers moved on to pinch a few strands of her damp hair before saying, “The stunning dark color of your hair will thin and turn a brittle grey.”
Then he let go and planted both of his hands on his knees, not offering an iota of defensive readiness despite continuing, “The sharpness in your eyes will eventually dull. The sheer physical presence you command will shrink until you are just another memory fading from the world. Then, in six or so centuries, your lifeless corpse will be laid to rest in a coffin, and on your tombstone, it will read,
’Here lies Black Fang, The Venomborne Terror, defeated not by an enemy who got the better of her but by time itself.’”
Black Fang outright growled in response.
The sound was raw and entirely animalistic, trapped deep in her chest. She was the Terror of Venom, a being who bent the world to her will, yet here was this unaging freak of nature detailing her inescapable future with a matter-of-fact tone.
A future where she would lose the supremacy she had fought for for centuries, enduring unspeakable things.
She did not wish to yield her position on the peak to the passage of time; it was against her very nature.
Thus, Quinlan understood Vex’s worries and fervent warning, and he also understood Black Fang’s reaction.
“But so what?” Quinlan finally asked. “Did you give me this eloquent speech to justify raping me?”
Black Fang remained silent for a long beat. The air became thick with tension and heat as the Primordial Villain and Terror of Venom continued glaring into each other’s eyes without giving an inch.
They continued doing so for more than a minute.
But by the end of it, while her aggressive posture remained, her intense snarl faded.
“No…” she whispered, refusing to do what she was accused of. “I won’t be doing that. We’re already allies; you yourself said so.”
She straightened her spine slightly, pulling her contempt back to the logical realm. “So I’ll ask you to ejaculate into a cup every three days. I’ll trade for it fairly. Name your price.”
Quinlan let out a dry chuckle. “Although I’d love to help you, truly, I’m afraid that’s not an option.”
He brought the floating status window closer so it stood right before Black Fang’s eyes, and the text shimmered, revealing a hidden clause directly beneath the main description.
[Doesn’t work with artificial insemination. The entity can regulate his Blessed Seed and eliminate its magical effects should he wish to.]
Black Fang’s eyes immediately darted to the new text.
Her pupils constricted as she absorbed the limitation. The primal growl immediately returned to her throat. She stepped off the bench and fully straightened, but her eyes were now outright blazing with raw fury.
“You were testing me,” she accused, words sharp as venom. “You wanted to see what I would do.”
Quinlan’s smirk widened, admitting to the accusation in all but words. But to her utmost irritation, he affected an air of playful innocence. “I have no clue what you’re talking about.”
“But… If I were testing you, I’d say you didn’t fail. Just barely.”
Black Fang couldn’t help but scoff at his audacity. “Spare me your nonsense.”
The venom in her voice faded, however, as her hard expression softened, turning immensely conflicted.
The manic glint of obsession receded, replaced by annoyance at her situation. She finally put the question into words. “Are you suggesting I become your woman?”
Quinlan shook his head slowly. “Just as you told your adorable little sister, ’You asked and I answered.’ I have no intention of mating with you just so you can stop aging, Black Fang. And no, I’m not willing to sell myself to you, I’m not a prostitute.”
Her fists clenched at her sides. She did not like this situation one bit. Clearly, she didn’t want to mate every three days either.
When Quinlan said he wasn’t willing, it was almost as if a little bit of relief passed through her eyes, but only for a moment.
Because she then realized that she was back at square one. The opportunity she’d been searching for for centuries was right before her, but presented in a manner she did not like.
Quinlan observed the internal struggle, the way her pride fought against her need for immortality.
From what he gathered, Black Fang was more than willing to have sex with him in exchange for getting his [Blessed Seed]. This was a woman of sacrifice, and she understood that parting her legs every 72 hours was an incredibly small sacrifice in exchange for eternal youth.
Then, he moved.
He stood up from the sauna bench. His body, completely unrestrained and built like a sculpture of primordial perfection, rose to its full height, and he now towered over the woman.
He looked down at the fierce, beautiful warrior standing before him. His eyes were filled with a challenge.
“I’m not willing to do it with you just to conduct a transaction. That’s why I will make you fall in love with me properly first,” he decreed. “Then, you will have an endless supply, and, just like my wives, you will be having the time of your life instead of being miserable while getting your refill every three days.”
Black Fang was utterly taken aback, clearly in disbelief. “Me, fall for you…?” she repeated.
She quickly regained her composure. “That will not happen,” she stated firmly. “Attraction for a man is something I’ve never felt in my life, not even for the shortest passing moment.”
Quinlan’s grin returned, sharp and defiant. “I’ve never backed down from a challenge. And you’re worth it.”
“I already know you like to talk big,” Black Fang scoffed. “But what exactly is your plan?”
Quinlan shrugged easily. “I’ll find a way sooner or later. First, I’ll get stronger than you.”
The statement instantly earned a strong, dangerous reaction. Fittingly for the territorial woman that she was, Black Fang did not take lightly to being told she would be surpassed. This declaration struck directly at her most primal desire for supremacy.
“I have no time to waste on your games. Maybe you will surpass me in some decades, but I need to attain eternal youth in the next few years at the latest.”
Quinlan reached up and pinched her cheek playfully. “Worried about wrinkles, are we?”
Black Fang swatted his hand away with so much strength that the blow nearly broke his wrist. “Do not touch me like that,” she hissed.
“Yeah, sorry,” Quinlan grunted, flexing his hand. “Got carried away. It just feels too good to interact like this with the woman who’s been on my mind for such a long time.”
Black Fang clearly did not care about his sentimentality, evidenced by the raw glare she sent up at him.
Despite being much shorter, she did not feel one bit smaller.
Quinlan chuckled. “I won’t be needing decades to surpass you.”
Black Fang’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits.
His voice dropped to a decisive pitch. “Give me one year.”
“One year…? Do you really-”
“Yes. In one year, not only will I surpass you as a combatant, but I will find a way to win your heart as well.”
“… And if you don’t?” she challenged. Her voice was thick with skepticism.
Quinlan shrugged. “Then I will serve as your Blessed Seed pump until the end of time.”
Quinlan extended a hand with a grin, waiting for her to seal the audacious deal. “What do you say, Miss Terror?”
