Chapter 464: Ch 464 - That Bastard Has Lost It
Chapter 464: Ch 464 – That Bastard Has Lost It
7/17
Yino had never really taken Ye Huai seriously from the start.
But even if he didn’t go looking for trouble, Ye Huai would come looking for him.
Two nights ago, while the Lin mansion elders were searching the back mountains for Yino’s whereabouts, he’d taken refuge in Ye Chaerin’s room to hide.
That’s when Yino overheard a rather intriguing conversation from inside Chaerin’s quarters.
First, he heard someone knocking at the door late at night. In a panic, Chaerin quickly gestured for Yino to hide in the wardrobe, then went to answer the door alone.
Yino had expected it to be another elder from the Lin mansion causing trouble, but the visitor’s opening words made his brow furrow.
“Master, forgive me for disturbing you so late, but please don’t be angry! I truly have urgent business, it’s about rumors concerning Yino!”
Ye Huai’s voice was rushed. Even though Yino couldn’t see him from inside the wardrobe, he could picture the scene outside from the tone alone.
Obviously, Chaerin’s expression couldn’t have been pleasant.
But seeing how breathless Ye Huai was with urgency, she maintained her curiosity and followed up:
“About Yino?”
“Exactly! That Yino, there’s a strong possibility he’s an evil cultivator! Master, have you ever heard of the Full Moon Sect’s Holy Maiden from the Azure Forest upheaval?”
“The Full Moon Sect’s Holy Maiden?”
“Yes! The very demon woman from that evil cult that the Liu mansion was talking about recently. Yino has deep connections with that flower demon from the Full Moon Sect!”
Ye Huai grew more agitated as he spoke, practically exhausting his vocabulary to tell Chaerin the secrets he’d heard from the Crimson Prince.
He obviously had no idea Yino was right there in the wardrobe, but Chaerin seemed to catch on to this point and deliberately invited Ye Huai inside to sit down and explain the secrets properly.
“Don’t rush. Come in and tell me everything slowly.”
As she said this, Chaerin had already pulled up a chair for Ye Huai.
She leaned against the long bench by her bedside, resting her chin on her hand, watching with interest as her beautiful eyes flicked toward the wardrobe crack behind Ye Huai.
Crouched in the wardrobe, watching Ye Huai expose his secrets, Yino’s mood was… complicated, to say the least.
“So you see, Master! You must be extremely careful of Yino! That evil cult Holy Maiden he’s in league with might be hiding in the Liuli Sect’s back mountains right now!”
“Moreover, Yino has a history of capturing righteous maidens and corrupting them!”
Ye Huai finished spilling all the secrets he’d heard, then switched to a tone of genuine concern as he warned Chaerin.
Though he spoke earnestly, Chaerin’s beautiful eyes showed no trace of wariness as she stared at the wardrobe crack. Instead, they reflected an increasingly meaningful, playful smile.
That look seemed to tell Yino: Just how much did you leave out when you told me about your achievements in the Azure Forest?
Yino was speechless, cursing inwardly that Ye Huai was a two-faced bastard, acting like a good brother to his face while stabbing him in the back!
What had Yino ever done to him?
How could Ye Huai badmouth him like this behind his back!
This master-disciple pair was each more black-hearted than the other. It was bad enough being interrogated by Chaerin, now he had to deal with Ye Huai exposing his secrets too.
“So, who told you all this?”
Having heard enough of Ye Huai’s earnest warnings, Chaerin seemed to tire of her game with Yino.
She sat up straight and switched to a serious tone as she questioned Ye Huai.
“This…”
At her words, Ye Huai immediately froze.
He remembered his master’s past warnings, he knew that trusting the Crimson Prince’s words went against Chaerin’s established plans.
“I’m asking you: WHO TOLD YOU?”
“Master, everything I’ve said is absolutely true…!”
Ye Huai was still deflecting, trying to avoid the question.
But this time, before he could finish speaking, his master’s hand delivered a merciless slap.
SMACK!
The white palm struck, leaving a red handprint on Ye Huai’s face.
“Ye Huai, when did you learn to lie to me?”
Chaerin rose slightly from the long bench, and even her beautiful eyes lost all trace of the playfulness and gentleness she’d shown when glancing at Yino.
This lightning-fast change of expression, faster than flipping through a book, not only shocked the slapped Ye Huai, but even Yino crouched in the wardrobe held his breath, inexplicably feeling the oppressive aura of a parent.
It was like being a kid visiting a friend’s house and witnessing said friend getting beaten by their mom…
“I… I heard it from the Crimson Prince…”
As he spoke that name, Ye Huai couldn’t help but cover his face in shame, lowering his head. Trembling under his master’s scrutiny, he felt completely exposed.
Still, he couldn’t help but add defensively:
“But Master! These are all stories that Xumo personally experienced! I was only worried that you might fall victim to that evil cultivator, so I…”
“What did I teach you before?”
Chaerin didn’t let him finish his explanation, still maintaining the divine pressure of a Great Vehicle stage.
Ye Huai lowered his head, his voice became as small as a mosquito’s:
“Don’t… don’t believe any of the Crimson Prince’s slander… Don’t have any dealings with the Crimson Prince whatsoever…”
“Did you think my words were just background noise?”
“I… I was worried Master would be corrupted… by Yino…”
“I am an Immortal. Do you really think I could be bewitched by a mortal in Nascent Soul stage disciple?”
As she said this, Chaerin was somewhat amused by her own anger.
Every conversation with Ye Huai truly annoyed her. His stupidity was one thing, but his narrow perspective made it impossible for her to explain many things to him even if she wanted to.
Fundamentally…
Chaerin was the master here.
She wasn’t worried about Ye Huai encountering bad people, when did it become his turn to worry about her?
