Chapter 638: Lotsa lines
Chapter 638: Lotsa lines
After his visit with the Duchess, Michael went back to the Upperwoods District to take a look at the current situation of the Reborn company.
Others already warned him of a large line that surrounded their store, so he chose to teleport a few streets away just to be safe.
And as he landed on his feet, he immediately came across a huge line of people spanning from Main Street all the way over five streets ahead!
With the way that Main Street was constructed, there were no curbs for people to walk through, so all of them were literally standing in the middle of the street, with carriages and horses crossing the imaginary road boundary just to pass through the people!
How many people are there?
[There’s about half a thousand people standing in line at the moment. And judging by the fact that there are more people lining up than there were people getting out, it seems that the number will only continue to grow throughout the day.]
On average, there were about three new people lining up per one person going out of the Reborn Department Store just on the opposite side of their headquarters.
“Have you tried the RD Soda yet? It’s so mind-boggingly good!”
“No, I haven’t! I wanted to try it yesterday but they already ran out of stock!”
“Last I heard, only the first thousand people can get RD Soda, so that’s why we lined up here even before daybreak.”
It seemed that RD Soda became extremely popular to the masses, just like he expected.
After the bombshell journal article from the Daily Metro, a lot of people were intrigued by the Reborn company and came to see what they had to offer.
And of course, the first thing they saw was the RD Soda, which was confirmed to be something that even the royals drank on a day to day basis. In fact, one of the trucks that the royal family obtained from the auction was purely dedicated to restocking on soda for the castle.
In a world without social media, RD Soda became just as much of a sensation as Michael Vanderbilt.
Speaking of whom, someone lined up on the streets looked up at Michael with shock. The man looked back down at the newspaper clip in his hands and compared the boy’s face to the illustration. It was a perfect replica.
“That’s Michael Vanderbilt!” he screamed, getting everyone’s attention.
“Woah! That’s him!”
“Hey please! Can I become part of your Rebron company?! I also want to become as strong as you!”
“Me first! Me first! I’m sure that I can become a good fighter if you train me!”
People began crossing the streets haphazardly just to swarm him, making the carriages and horses skid to a stop and creating chaos everywhere.
He was the biggest reason as to why the Reborn company was now known throughout all of Metropolis.
His show of power, his triumph against the Rising Six and even the Major Factions became a legendary moment in everyone’s memories.
It wasn’t surprising that almost half of the people lining up on the streets were actually just lining up to get an appointment at the Reborn Headquarters. They wanted to get recruited!
His legendary feats as well as his last name gave a lot of people the impression that he was going to become part of the Major Factions in the future. It was almost guaranteed at this point. And if they were able to hitch their wagons to him early on, then they could basically secure their futures as well.
Many people heard that his greatest fighters were demi-humans, and those who knew anything about Maugnetics knew that they couldn’t have a Diva at all.
So, they lined up in the hopes that they could become the first Maugnetics in the Reborn company, and hopefully be bestowed upon a Mithril Artifact.
And just as he was about to be swarmed, a few Shadow Orcs immediately appeared and created a dark shadow cloud over everyone, disorienting them.
A few seconds later, the cloud disappeared, and it seemed, so did Michael.
…
…
…
Michael teleported directly to their headquarters with the Shadow Orcs right beside him.
“Thanks guys.”
They bowed at him and disappeared into the shadows. Then, he immediately went over to the CEO’s office and found Castelle looking critically stressed.
Her maid bowtie was completely let loose! This was very much uncharacteristic of the maid CEO.
“It’s about the crowd, isn’t it?” he asked her.
Castelle looked up at Michael, showing the bags under her eyes.
“Yes, Young Master… we are unable to keep up with the demand of the market. The RD Soda is quickly becoming our best seller, but we can hardly produce two thousand in a day.
Not only that, but our Department Stores are completely packed! It won’t be long before our entire inventory will get sold out! And according to our estimates, our resupply trucks won’t get here until a week later! It’s a logistical nightmare!”
He felt really sorry that he had to burden her with all of these responsibilities while he slacked off.
“Don’t worry too much. I’ll have some of our Shadow Orcs transport inventory directly to Metropolis. And if it gets really dire, I’ll do it myself.
As for the RD Soda, having a limited quantity is actually good for now. It becomes more valuable and more sought-after, allowing our brand to become bigger in the eyes of the people.
And in the future, we’ll just expand our factories. I’ll just have a deal with Spice Vise again to have them increase the supply.”
This seemed to have calmed her down a little bit, which was good.
The problem is the space. I need to buy property for a new factory.
But that was a problem for another day. For now, he wanted to focus on the Mermen.
He went over to find Vivi, who were playing around with the rest of the Dragonborns.
“Lord Michael. Was your meeting with the Duchess fruitful?” Sheina asked, appearing in front of him with her clipboard and pen in hand.
“Yep. I know where to go now.”
“OOOH! Bro Mike! Are we going on an adventure?!” Zion interjected.
“Keke… this will be a great training for my ninja skills,” Fudge said, acting all edgy and aloof in the corner.
“Eh? Me too me too!” Vivi said, buzzing around Michael’s face.
Sheina, of course, reigned them in. “This is no joking matter. Lord Michael, please tell me if you’re going to embark outside of Metropolis. I shall prepare our automobiles at the shortest moment.”
He looked at them with a smile. “Actually, I’m thinking of a different mode of transportation.”
Of course, he was talking about the Pocket Dimension upgrade for his Drone.
This would be the perfect time to buy it.
Since he had never been to Tru’gen Straight before, this meant that he wouldn’t be able to use his shadow clones to teleport himself directly over there.
But if he could fly there, he could bring his entire room!
He quickly went on over to his office, sat down, and closed his eyes. It’s upgrading time!
