Chapter 1025 - 1025: Battlelines Drawn
What exactly had Evan just ‘unsealed’?
They were all aware of the Vision Seal placed on him, and for days now, they’d been dying to find out what the seal had been suppressing.
It didn’t seem to be raw power, as Evan hadn’t changed in appearance, nor were his energy levels spiking.
Jamie, however, couldn’t shake the feeling that something important was being held back, since as far as he knew, Vision Seals were primarily used to suppress power.
It could also mean that in this case, Evan’s body just wasn’t strong enough to handle the full force of that power, so it was still held back.
He didn’t know it, but he wasn’t far from the truth.
Anyway, their unspoken curiosity was written all over their faces, and Evan picked up on it immediately.
He answered their unspoken questions, with a spoken question of his own.
“Do you guys want the long version or the short version?”
Everyone stared at him with blank expressions.
“Obviously, the short version!”—was the collective thought echoing in their minds, though no one actually said it aloud.
They definitely didn’t want to hear whatever the long version might involve. The fact that Evan even had a long version was concerning enough.
Once again, Evan didn’t need to hear their voices to know what they were thinking. He just laughed and spoke.
“Okay, the short version. I can do that.”
He took a sip of his milkshake before continuing.
“For starters, I’m a lot older than I thought I was. Apparently.”
At first, this didn’t surprise anyone. Both Arthur and Artemisia had already noted the age discrepancy between Evan’s body and his soul, so his comment seemed redundant.
But then, they realized that Evan was aware of it too. And for him to bring it up now meant the gap was even greater than they had initially assumed.
Jamie silently narrowed his eyes, channelling law energy into his pupils. His sight scanned Evan’s existence, immediately noticing the boy’s soul, which was far stronger than before.
‘Saying it’s stronger is an understatement…’
Clearly, he’d noticed Evan’s Deity Soul, but just as he was about to ask something, a ripple in space caught his attention. He turned his head just in time to see a spatial gate tear open.
From the gate stepped Alvey, clutching a bundle of files in his hands. His expression was serious, and the moment his eyes landed on Arthur, he spoke urgently.
“Arthur, I’ve got news—”
He abruptly froze mid-sentence as his eyes noticed Jamie. Without hesitation, Alvey dropped to one knee, offering the formal greeting befitting a high-ranking demon before a Demon King.
Jamie waved him off, clearly uninterested in the formalities and urged him to carry on.
“Go on.”
At Jamie’s cue, Alvey rose, shifting his focus back to Arthur as he spoke.
“We’ve discovered him.”
Arthur’s brow furrowed.
“Him? Who’s him?”
The question barely left his lips before Alvey’s next words made his confusion vanish like smoke.
“The last brain behind the Fake Divine experiments. The disciple of the man called Ger.”
The mention of ‘Fake Divines’ made Evan recall his expedition with Artemisia and Beatrix to the place Beatrix dubbed the ‘Labyrinth of Forsaken Divines’.
He recalled the recordings they’d seen there, especially the one that featured a younger version of the man named ‘Ger’, whom Alvey referred to.
He was the disciple of the most brilliant mind behind the Fake Divine experiment, until he was killed by Sigesi, that is.
As for Ger himself, the man was now imprisoned in Arthur’s subspace, leaving only Ger’s disciple.
His name, Kalon.
‘Kalon, huh? It’s too similar to that Machine bastard’s name to be a coincidence.
Especially since the one behind the Aramisian god Kings and the Fake Divine Experiments is that bastard Craig.’
He, Beatrix and Artemisia had discovered this fact from a journal belonging to one of the researchers there, the same researcher who later tried to kill them.
‘What was his name again? Rezaemon, was it?’
While a part of Evan’s mind was recalling these bits of information, the other was listening to the brief rundown on Kalon.
Kalon was the last person alive with the core knowledge of how to create the Fake Divines, and more importantly, how to replicate the groundbreaking success Ger and his master had once achieved.
Ger himself had no idea where his disciple was hidden, and that had been intentional.
If he were ever captured, as he was now, he wouldn’t be able to give Kalon away.
But even without specifics, Ger’s deep familiarity with the Fake Divine factories provided hints, ideas, and locations where his disciple might have been hiding.
Alvey had taken advantage of the Aramisians’ distraction with the demons’ recent conquest of Plomux, deploying his Shadow Demons in secret.
Using Ger’s memories—memories Arthur had allowed the Demon Kings to extract during the Gozonian Summit—they now had a complete map of all the Fake Divine factory locations.
Ger’s soul had been heavily sealed, but it was nothing against Demon Kings. They easily cracked open every fragment of knowledge locked away in his mind, body, and soul.
Alvey sent this information back to Aramis, where Jabberwocky, ever the loyal Mimic Demon, led his shadow and mimic subordinates to scour as many military bases and factories as they could find.
After sifting through countless false leads, they had finally uncovered a cluster of bases where Kalon was likely hiding.
“Jabberwocky went in person to confirm it. Just like when he infiltrated the Triton’s Ark, taking over the position of Fleet Admiral, he did the same with a high-ranking General. He snuck in and confirmed it.”
Arthur raised an eyebrow after Alvey spoke, clearly impressed.
“Damn, Jabberwocky’s good.”
Evan nodded in agreement, but before they could say more, a foreign voice echoed in the room.
“Thank you.”
Both Arthur and Evan spun around, eyes widening in shock.
Standing behind them, quietly closing the door, was Jabberwocky himself—the Mimic Demon they’d just spoken of.
He wore the uniform of an Aramisian General, though it only stayed on for a moment. With a single step forward, the uniform shifted seamlessly into the Demon Army colours, his face morphing into the one Evan had seen him with on Plomux.
Neither Arthur nor Evan had sensed his presence until he spoke. Even Alvey, bound to Jabberwocky by contract, hadn’t sensed his arrival.
Jamie, on the other hand, showed no surprise at all. With Space as his primary attribute, his spatial perception made it impossible for Jabberwocky to remain unnoticed by him.
Jabberwocky’s existence occupied ‘space’ within the third dimension—there was no hiding from someone who controlled it.
Stepping forward, Jabberwocky offered a formal greeting to Jamie before diving into his report.
He had infiltrated multiple Fake Divine factories, each more heavily guarded than the last. Using his mimic abilities, he slipped past security, seamlessly assuming the identities of key personnel while gathering intelligence.
After days of meticulous work, he had finally narrowed the search down to a single location—the Waregough Archipelago.
The Waregough Archipelago consisted of 105 islands scattered along the northern coast of Gledea.
Of these, the ten central islands stood out—encircled by the remaining 95 like a natural fortress.
This formation acted as a defensive barrier, concealing the activities at the centre. It was there that Jabberwocky had finally uncovered what he was searching for.
Ger’s disciple, Kalon, had been hidden away on one of these islands.
But the discovery didn’t end there.
The Aramisians weren’t just protecting him—they were planning to clone his brain.
Using a supercomputing artifact, they intended to replicate Kalon’s knowledge, ensuring that even if he were to die, all the data and research on the Fake Divines would remain intact.
What had originally been a precaution—restricting the knowledge to a select few—had now turned into the biggest risk of losing the information forever.
If they lost Kalon, they lost everything. So, they were taking precautions.
Unbeknownst to the Aramisians, Ger was still alive—imprisoned but breathing. However, believing him dead, they had moved forward with measures to preserve the crucial information.
When Jabberwocky finished his report, Arthur leaned back in his seat and turned to Evan.
“Evan, it seems that your backstory—whatever you unsealed, whether memories or power—will only come to light when your novel reaches this part of the crossover arc.”
Evan resisted the urge to retort with ‘This IS my story’. He just gave Arthur a deadpan stare before sighing and facepalming.
“Really, dude?”
Arthur, ignoring the confused looks from the others, simply shrugged.
“What? I’m serious.”
Jamie, watching the two with amusement, chuckled lightly.
“Arthur isn’t wrong. Since it’s your backstory, it’s only fair that we get to see it unfold in your story.”
And that’s exactly what had happened.
Alvey, Artemisia, and Beatrix exchanged bewildered glances, their faces filled with confusion. As usual, they had no idea what the trio was talking about.
When asked, the three simply gave their usual cryptic response: “Don’t worry. You wouldn’t understand even if we explained it to you.”
And truly, they wouldn’t.
With the banter over, the group’s focus shifted to the pressing matter at hand. It was time to make a plan.
Jamie snapped his fingers, using magic to cloak their conversation from any prying ears, especially the planet’s consciousness. Once they were fully secure, he snapped again, teleporting McEnda and Barron, the Demon Admiral from the Agriker family, into the room.
Seeing Barron reminded Evan of the Demonic Hand’s Fifth Finger’s contractor, likely a descendant of Barron, and his thoughts once again drifted to how things on future Aidos were unfolding in his absence.
As he mulled over this, the two new arrivals were quickly briefed on the discovery of Kalon.
They immediately shifted gears to serious mode, joining the others to begin strategizing and laying out the battle plan for the Waregough Archipelago.
Evan sat through the conversation, present but not participating. His mind was elsewhere, calculating the immense EXP he’d gain from the upcoming battle and mapping out his path to Level 800.
The strategy meeting revolved around their planned invasion of the Waregough Archipelago, with WA-03 as the primary target. The biggest challenge was moving millions of soldiers undetected past Aramisian defences, particularly the divinity-infused waters surrounding the islands.
Jamie proposed cloaking their forces with Cosmic Energy, ensuring the Aramisian god Kings wouldn’t detect them.
No one among the Aramisian god Kings had attained Cosmic Superiority, so if Jamie cloaked the movement of the demons with Cosmic Energy, the god Kings wouldn’t even be able to sense it.
The veil would be invisible to them, like trying to feel the wind while wearing gloves made of stone.
Even if the god Kings later suspected a veil had been cast, they wouldn’t have any way to trace its origin. They wouldn’t know who cast it, and by the time they figured it out, the invasion would be long over.
Quoting Arthur, “It’s not counted as interference unless you get caught.”
Arthur then proceeded to suggest an even better idea—teleporting the army directly onto the islands to bypass the logistical nightmare entirely.
Though Jamie initially resisted, citing the lack of excitement, after some back-and-forth (and combined persuasion from Arthur, McEnda, and Alvey), he finally agreed, though not without some theatrics.
With Jamie handling transportation, their plan solidified: Gozonian soldiers would be teleported straight to WA-03, while Barron’s naval fleet would simultaneously appear around the outer defensive islands, preventing any escape.
The attack was scheduled for August 6th, just seven days later.
By the time the Aramisians realized what was happening, it would be too late.
