Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 1069 - 1069: Worst Mistake

“UNIQUE SKILLS ARE RESTRICTED!”

That was Azzonnin’s worst mistake.

The moment the Law Energy of Restriction surged toward Evan, it rebounded instantly, like a tidal wave slamming into a dam and ricocheting back with devastating force. It shot straight back at Azzonnin, crashing into him with the weight and violence of a runaway truck.

“GukARGGHHH!!!!”

The Soul Devil’s body convulsed and he vomited black blood with a blood-curdling scream, his soul itself consumed by agony.

And in the next second, Evan’s fist collided with the side of his face, sending him hurtling through the air and crashing hundreds of meters away.

“…what?”

Evan froze for a moment, blinking in shock, before finally understanding what had just happened.

“His Restriction Failed!”

Azzonnin had suffered a backlash because his attempt to shut down Evan’s Unique Skills didn’t work.

Which, when one really thought about it, wasn’t all that surprising.

Evan had multiple Unique Skills, starting from his Mystic Eyes, which contained an Ultimate Seed Fragment.

Then there was Adaptive Evolution, which was just a fancy packaging over a replenishable charge of future Artemisia’s Royal Evolution Authority.

Blessing of Destruction was given to him by an existence whose power Azzonnin couldn’t even compute. Harbinger of Ice was a Series with an Ultimate Seed fragment like his Mystic Eyes.

And Mesarthim…

Jamie had once said Mesarthim was like two Unique Series Skills and then some, all fused into one.

So honestly, if Azzonnin had been able to restrict all of that in a single moment, then he might as well reclaim his former power and become a Transcendent right now.

That aside, our friendly neighbourhood Spiderm— I mean, Rogue Hero, didn’t hesitate to charge after Azzonnin, aiming to capitalize on the opportunity.

“Did you almost call me Spiderman?!”

Kinda hard not to when you’re swinging through the air with chains like he does with webs.

“I wasn’t swinging!”

Yes, you were. Now concentrate, he’s about to summon reinforcements.

“Wait, what?!”

Evan immediately activated Space Warp, a skill he had been saving for a surprise attack.

It was one of Beatrix’s skills, similar to Blink in function, teleporting the user to a chosen location. But unlike Blink, it didn’t require the target to be in the user’s line of sight and dealt spatial damage at both the departure and arrival zones.

So, Azzonnin, who had only just managed to push himself to his knees, was abruptly blasted in the face with spatial law energy, followed by a brutal kick to the chest courtesy of Evan’s right leg + Electroflame + Fracture + Adamantine Might + Pierce Guard + Permeating Wave + Time Bomb.

The impact sent the soul devil flying in a clean arc through the air, but before he could hit the ground, Evan teleported to the predicted landing point, ready to follow up with another Six-Skill kick—only for Danger Sense to blare an urgent alarm.

‘Behind?!’

He spun without hesitation, both arms snapping up just in time to catch the upper and lower jaws of the dragon that had suddenly appeared to chomp down on him.

‘How fast is this big lizard?!’

Even with Adamantine Might active, Evan’s strength was just barely enough to stop the dragon’s jaws from closing around his upper body.

‘Shockwave!’

The burst of energy from Evan blasted both Azzonnin behind him and the dragon away. Immediately, Evan used Blink to teleport to the dragon’s flank, spawning his Frost Thunder Guardian as he arrived.

“Cut the damn wings!”

The towering, armoured knight construct swung its frozen, lightning-charged blade, slicing clean through the dragon’s left wing. At the same time, Evan dropkicked the beast’s back, activating Collapse in the process.

The double impact sent the dragon crashing into the ground in an instant, but that brief moment Evan spent handling it was all Azzonnin needed to summon more reinforcements.

“Soul Command!! Forced Awakening!! Get over here, you stupid lizards!!”

Magic and law energy erupted from the soul devil’s body in waves, flooding the ruined forest and forcibly reawakening the consciousnesses of those knocked unconscious by Evan’s initial attack.

The Level 600+ devils, or more accurately, devil dragons disguised as spirits, who had survived the initial attack awakened with pained and rage-filled roars. Their bloodshot eyes burned with rage as they shed their disguises and shifted into their full dragon forms.

The sounds of those roars had only just reached Evan’s ears when the sky darkened, dozens of massive shadows falling over him.

Turning around, Evan cursed.

“Fuck. My dragon form alone isn’t gonna cut it anymore.”

It sure as hell wasn’t.

Especially now that Azzonnin was unleashing a barrage of magic missiles to riddle him with holes—not. Azzonnin just wanted to keep him occupied while the dragons charged their breaths.

‘Wait…he’s using magic?! In that case…!

Self-Immolation + Shockwave!’

Evan clenched his fist and pumped it with magic power before slamming it into the ground.

**BAMM!!!

The earth split and shattered, jagged rocks launching at near-sonic speed while cracks webbed out across the terrain even faster.

A cloud of dust and smoke billowed into the sky as the shockwave knocked everyone on the ground off balance, and within that haze, Evan gathered magic power and cast a spell.

‘World Magic: Spell Number 9: Einherjar!’

A blinding light erupted from the centre of the smoke, and when it faded, three figures shot out, each dashing in a different direction.

One veered left, another right, and the third charged straight for Azzonnin, who stood atop the head of one of the awakened Level 750 devil dragons.

All the dragons blinked in shock and momentarily froze, as Evan had split into three!

They hesitated, unsure. Were they clones? Illusions? But each figure radiated a distinct magic presence… so they couldn’t be illusions, right?

While the devil dragons were caught in confusion, Azzonnin wasn’t.

“The left! That’s the real one!”

Being a soul devil, he could clearly see that the ‘Evan’ heading straight for him and the one sprinting to the right lacked souls. Only the one on the left had one.

But identifying the real one didn’t make the fakes useless.

Only the dragons on the left wing of their formation turned to attack Evan. The ones in the middle were forced to deal with his Factor Mimic, which charged at them wreathed in bright orange flames.

As for those on the right…

**KAABOOOMM!!!!

A sudden, nuclear-level explosion erupted, sending shockwaves through the sky and knocking dozens of dragons out of flight, including Azzonnin’s mount.

Lightning cracked through the air, striking dragons in brilliant, devastating flashes. A blinding beam of energy erupted from the smoke, carving through the air and slicing through multiple dragons.

Golden chains burst out in all directions, latching onto limbs and tails, dragging dragons straight into the heart of the mushroom cloud of fire and smoke.

Naturally, this was the handiwork of Evan’s Einherjar.

As Evan had said before, his Einherjar was a purely strong version of him without his weaknesses.

It couldn’t cast spells or use his Unique Skills, but in exchange, each Skill it couldn’t access translated into raw power.

So much power, in fact, that a single ground punch combined with Fracture generated an impact on par with a nuclear detonation.

‘It does burn through a ton of magic to keep active, though.’

That thought crossed Evan’s mind as he tossed his mask and the empty Potion No. 3 bottle into his Inventory and pulled out Potion No. 4.

Noticeably, a deep crimson aura surrounded his body as he moved, the visual effect caused by the ambient Destruction Law energy which was boosting his power by 300%.

Yes, Evan had used Blessing of Destruction’s First Activation. He didn’t have a choice if he wanted to deal with these dragons, several of which were Level 750.

Trying to face them in his base/dragon modes would’ve been no different from flying toward the sun on wax wings. A suicidal move.

Meanwhile, the devil dragons, especially the ones in the path of the real Evan, felt a cold shiver crawl down their spines.

Some even shot resentful glances at Azzonnin, silently cursing him for forcing them to go up against a monster like this.

But their souls were under his control, so there was nothing they could do about it.

Evan smacked aside the Level 600 dragons in his path as he charged straight toward the spot where Azzonnin had fallen, concentrating immense magic power around his arms.

The moment he reached the weakened soul devil, he threw his fist forward with a shout.

“ULTIMATE FLAME!!!”

“?!”

Azzonnin, his body covered in burns and scratches, skin paler than usual, snapped his head toward Evan and hastily conjured a reflector to bounce the strike back.

But just before Evan’s fist made contact, he shouted something completely unexpected.

“Psych!”

A small platform of magic power formed right in front of Azzonnin’s face, and Evan’s fist hit that first, stopping it from touching the reflector layered over Azzonnin’s body.

As the platform—created using Evan’s Void Step—shattered, the magic surrounding his hand erupted, and a magic circle formed in the air above Azzonnin.

Pseudo-World Magic: Spell Number 25.

“World Isolation Barrier!”

The magic gathered around Evan’s fist was sucked into the magic circle and used to conjure a 2-metre-wide dome around Azzonnin.

Its conditions were simple: In exchange for keeping Evan out, it would keep Azzonnin in.

So, when the soul devil struck the barrier in an attempt to break free, he was knocked back to the ground.

“Sit there for a bit, devil.”

Evan jumped into the air, spreading his wings as he spoke. His gaze then locked onto the ones he had to take care of in the few minutes the World Isolation Barrier would hold—the horde of devil dragons Azzonnin had summoned.
