Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 1071 - 1071: Fight to the Finish

“Reflect this, motherfucker!”

Paladin + Fracture + Blessing of Corrosion + Collapse + Time Bomb + Pierce Guard + Adamantine Might + Shockwave + Permeating Wave + Hammerfist + Prismatic Impact.

***KAABOOOMM!!!

The combination of skills and techniques crashed into Azzonnin with a space-distorting impact, launching his body across several kilometres. He smashed into the ground so hard that he bounced back into the air before crashing down a second time.

Evan gave chase as a streak of crimson-gold light, sonic booms trailing behind him. He landed with both feet on Azzonnin’s torso and drove his fist into the soul devil’s face with a Fracture-powered blow.

But before he could follow up, a wave of magic power slammed into him from the side, flinging his body across the cracked earth for dozens of metres.

He barely managed to rise when a bloodied Azzonnin charged at him, slamming a punch into Evan’s chest that knocked him back, then followed with an uppercut that launched him into the air.

Azzonnin coughed up blood from the exertion but wiped it away with the back of his fist, spread his wings, and charged upward with claws glowing.

Evan regained his balance mid-air, sensed the incoming charge, and met it head-on with a punch that triggered another space-warping impact.

Azzonnin was blasted into the ground, kicking up a mushroom cloud of smoke and dust, but just as Evan dove in to follow up his attack, he sensed Danger and immediately looked up to see a massive earthen spear plummeting from above.

‘Stout Guardian!’

The knight immediately materialized to shield its master, and Evan unhesitatingly charged at Azzonnin, who had planned to strike while he was distracted by the overhead threat.

Conjuring a sword with Elemental Weapon Projection, Evan activated Vortex and hurled the swirling mass of prismatic destruction directly at the soul devil.

Azzonnin tried to dodge at the last moment, but the swirling energy’s pulling force dragged him in. The mass struck him mid-air, slamming him into the ground with a resounding crash that shook the land.

Of course, the elemental projected weapon was consumed entirely in the attack, but Evan didn’t care.

He landed on the crumbling earth, his Mystic Eyes glowing as he activated one of his recently acquired Unique Skills.

“Disaster Genesis!!!”

Cracks spread across the land beneath them as the world responded to his command. Evan clenched his fist, then drove it upward, bellowing.

“Erupt!”

And the disaster answered.

The ground right beneath Azzonnin, who had barely gotten up, split open, and from the gaping fissure, magma erupted in a towering column, molten fire ascending skyward.

The eruption launched Azzonnin into the air, but Evan wasn’t done with him just yet.

Slamming his palms together, he activated Elemental Gale and combined it with Disaster Genesis to conjure another artificial disaster in the skies.

Winds howled, catching both magma and Azzonnin in a violent updraft, swirling them higher. At the same time, Evan bent the sky to his will, summoning storm clouds that crackled and churned until a vortex of lava and lightning.

After conjuring the lava hurricane, Evan opened his mouth, charging and unleashing a breath right at Azzonnin who was trapped in the centre of the storm.

The breath struck with a thunderous explosion, sending shockwaves rippling out for miles and devastating everything within that range.

After unleashing that devastating combo, Evan dropped to one knee, breathing heavily. He downed another magic potion, ignoring its reduced efficiency, and grabbed a handful of magic stones from his Inventory, clenching them in his fist as he glared at the sky-splitting explosion.

‘That motherfucker is still alive…’

The constant warning from Danger Sense was all the confirmation Evan needed.

He shoved the magic stones into the Energem Reclaimer on his right hand, took a deep breath, and activated another burst mode skill.

“Limit…Break!”

Power surged through Evan once more, accompanied by the disconcerting sound of flesh crunching in his ears as the combined strain of BoD’s Second Activation and Limit Break wrecked his body.

‘Mesarthim: GREEN.’

Green flames engulfed his body just as he kicked off the ground and leapt into the explosion, bursting through smoke and fire to deliver a lightning-fast, lightning-charged punch at Azzonnin, who had been trying to regenerate his wounds under cover of the smoke.

**BAMM!!

The punch smashed into the soul devil, sending him flying, and Evan charged after him, swinging another punch that sent him flying once more.

Groaning in pain, Azzonnin quickly beat his wings to regain balance, scrambling to escape before Evan could land a third punch.

He dashed away as fast as he could, leaving sonic booms behind him as he flew to a distant mountainous region, curving around the first peak in the range.

Evan gave chase, but before he could veer around the peak, it exploded, with Azzonnin charging out from within, slamming into him and sending him crashing into the second mountain in the range.

Azzonnin tried to follow up with a punch, but Evan unleashed a shockwave that blasted the soul devil backwards. He charged forward and grabbed Azzonnin’s face with his left hand, slamming his head first into the remnants of the first peak.

Evan dragged Azzonnin’s head across the mountain’s surface before shifting his grip to the soul devil’s neck, clearing the way for his right fist to come crashing down.

However, Azzonnin caught the punch, then struck upward at the underside of Evan’s left arm, breaking the grip on his neck, and immediately following up with an uppercut.

Reaching low, he grabbed Evan’s leg, spun him around several times, and hurled him into a random mountain in the distance.

Azzonnin charged right after Evan, unleashing punch after punch, pummelling Evan straight through the mountain.

But before he could land the final blow of the combo, Evan Space Warped away, reappearing behind Azzonnin and slamming a roundhouse kick into the side of his head.

The soul devil was knocked downward but landed on his feet, immediately spinning around and throwing out his right hand to meet Evan’s incoming punch.

He raised his other hand to catch Evan’s second punch aimed for his face, but Evan immediately headbutted him, then opened his mouth and unleashed a point-blank breath attack that blasted Azzonnin backwards.

Azzonnin’s body was nearly launched away, but Evan broke free from his grip, seized Azzonnin’s arm, and kept him grounded.

He unleashed a second breath attack, but this time, Azzonnin responded in kind, releasing his own breath simultaneously. The two blasts collided mid-air, resulting in a violent explosion that hurled them both backwards.

Almost instantly, both fighters regained their bearings mid-air, wings beating rapidly as they charged at each other once more.

They threw out punches, but once again, their fists met in mutual blocks, the impact of their clash collapsing the ground beneath them.

Evan activated Vortex and Elemental Gale, causing the surrounding magic power to swirl violently. Prismatic flames erupted from his body, merging with the vortex and transforming it into a massive flaming cyclone that engulfed them both.

While Evan was unharmed by the flames, Azzonnin writhed in agony. Marked Vulnerability had made him increasingly susceptible to Evan’s attacks, and that was on top of the effects of Blessing of Corrosion, which was essentially damage over time, and the destruction law energy ignoring his defences.

The accumulating damage overwhelmed Azzonnin, and the Vortex tipped him over the edge. As he staggered, Evan seized the moment, reaching out and grabbing one of Azzonnin’s horns.

With Adamantine Might activated, Evan pulled with all his strength, tearing the horn clean from Azzonnin’s skull and sending a spray of blood into the air. As Azzonnin screamed in agony, Evan headbutted him again, then grabbed him by the neck, and used Blink to teleport both of them high into the sky, before immediately hurling Azzonnin back toward the ground.

Evan then charged after him, and the moment the soul devil slammed face-first into the earth, Evan came crashing down on top of him, landing with both knees driving into Azzonnin’s back.

He seized Azzonnin’s left arm and pulled on it with all his might, eliciting a scream of pain from the soul devil.

Evan tightened his grip, activating Blue Judgement and summoning a bolt of azure lightning that struck them both, temporarily paralyzing Azzonnin.

With a groan, Evan pulled even harder, not only dislocating Azzonnin’s shoulder but tearing the entire arm clean off.

However, the force of the pull sent him staggering backwards, and in that moment, Azzonnin, enraged and losing all reason from the automatic activation of his Berserk skill, sprang to his feet and unleashed a wild anti-clockwise swing at the unbalanced Evan.

His claws tore across Evan’s eye, gouging out flesh and shredding the delicate tissue in a spray of blood.

The moment that happened, Evan screamed in agony, his body staggering backwards as blood streamed from his damaged eye.

But it wasn’t the pain of losing his eye that made him scream. This was someone who hadn’t made a sound even when his heart was destroyed, after all.

It was the pain of the soul.

Evan had taken soul damage from that strike.

The boy could not comprehend it. He was certain that Azzonnin’s attack had been completely devoid of soul power, the soul devil’s only means to inflict soul damage on him.

And yet, as his eye was blinded, Evan had undeniably suffered damage to his soul.

A sudden wave of weakness washed over him as Limit Break was forcibly deactivated, along with every active skill except for Mesarthim and Blessing of Destruction.

The instant that happened, the realization dawned on Evan.

‘…Mystic Eyes…!’

That was it. Azzonnin’s strike had damaged his Mystic Eyes.

The skill used the eyes as a window to the soul, allowing him to copy the skill runes etched on others’ souls onto his own.

In other words, there was a special direct channel linking Evan’s eyes to his soul.

When Azzonnin slashed Evan’s Mystic Eyes, the damage reverberated down that channel and severely wounded his soul, especially since a large portion of Evan’s power and many of the skill runes inscribed on his soul were directly connected to his Mystic Eyes.

Hence, the soul damage Evan suffered.

Evan didn’t know that damage to his Mystic Eyes would cause instantaneous soul damage.

His predecessors had always protected their eyes in combat, understanding that injuring them would bring severe consequences. However, none of them had ever experienced such damage themselves, so they never discovered what those consequences were.

As a result, Evan’s generation of Heroes, who inherited the memories of their predecessors, also remained unaware.

None of them knew that Mystic Eye damage would cause immediate and unavoidable soul damage.

Evan felt as though no less than 10% of his Soul’s Vitality had been shaved off with that single attack, and this was considering the fact that his soul was far more powerful than any Mortal soul could ever be, thanks to his unique circumstances.

Wrecked by the pain of soul damage, Evan was in no condition to properly defend himself against the attacks from the now one-armed, berserk Azzonnin, who kicked his leg, knocking him off his feet, then slammed him into the ground, and unleashed a flurry of punches.

Azzonnin delivered a kick to Evan’s side, sending him flying. Then, condensing all of his power into his remaining hand, he leapt into the air and charged straight at Evan with his fist.

However, just before his fist reached Evan, the wounded Evan poured all of his remaining magic power, and as much destruction law energy as he could gather, into activating a Blessing of Destruction Second Activation ability.

“Nether Cage!!”

Instantly, a sphere of crimson-gold energy materialized around Azzonnin, and his charging fist collided with the newly formed barrier, shattering it on impact.

As per the ability’s effect, the destruction of the Nether Cage triggered an immediate burst of destruction energy, dealing immediate damage to the target.

Azzonnin was engulfed in the resulting eruption, prismatic flames and destruction energy bursting into a massive, rapidly expanding, cloud-piercing pillar that vaporized everything within miles.
