Chapter 1119 - 1119: Unleashed Floodgates
Reabsorbing the energy from the blocked Continental Split, Arthur pulled Lostvayne back and unleashed Extreme Nothingness once more.
Forced to defend, the man conjured a cosmic energy shield along the sword’s trajectory.
“Echobarriere!”
The exact amount of energy in Arthur’s strike was matched by the shield, creating an unstable feedback loop. The two forces clashed violently, neutralising one another in a massive explosion that sent smoke, flames, and molten magma erupting from the ground, liquefying the land beneath.
Arthur leapt into the air, avoiding the searing heat below, when movement at the corner of his eye caught him off guard. The man’s figure darted in from his left, an attack speeding toward him.
Reacting instinctively, Arthur swung Lostvayne in a counterstrike, only to realise it was a time illusion.
Before he could pull back, the real figure emerged from the smoke, perfectly mirroring the illusion’s movements. The man’s strike closed in with blinding speed, so fast that Arthur doubted he would have been able to react in time if his sword hadn’t already been in motion.
But it had, so he met the strike, cosmic energies clashing in a dazzling display.
Another illusion flickered to his right, showing a spinning backhand aimed at his face. Instinctively, Arthur shifted Lostvayne to intercept, and the real strike followed the same arc, blocked just in time.
It was then that his eyes caught a shimmering brown lamé particle in the air, and realisation dawned.
‘…this is Beatrix’s divinity…’
He was within the reach of Beatrix’s Chrono-Space Dominion, witnessing fleeting glimpses of the next few seconds—illusions of the future that let him react before his opponent moved.
Beatrix bore the burden of projecting these visions, sparing him the strain of using his Memories of the Future technique. With her support, all Arthur had to do was focus on blocking and striking with full force.
In this way, he blocked two more of the man’s devastating fist strikes with Lostvayne, countering as well.
The man’s frown deepened with each block, irritation flashing across his face.
‘Tsk… even if it accelerates this body’s destruction, there’s little choice. I can’t waste the remaining three.’
With that thought, a surge of cosmic energy burst from his body, pushing Arthur back.
The combined force of multiple universal laws crashed over the battlefield like a tidal wave. The man wasn’t limiting himself to Destruction and occasional Time manipulation anymore.
‘Nekrotischer Kataklysmus.’
The inky black wave of death, spreading like a living force intent on consuming Arthur’s life force, was the first new ability the man released from his expansive arsenal.
Following that, he unleashed a barrage of elemental laws, combining Death with Destruction, Fire, Ice, Earth, Air, and Lightning to strike Arthur from every angle.
He sent necrotic waves, molten blades, icy projectiles, and crushing strikes, forcing Arthur to react continuously, countering with Lostvayne, gravity manipulation, and his other Pseudo-Authorities.
Beatrix’s Chrono-Space Dominion allowed Arthur glimpses of the immediate future, letting him respond to attacks on time, while Evan supported him, using World Magic via the Akashic Page to neutralise the man’s support abilities or attacking directly. Artemisia focused on protecting Beatrix, who was defenceless while using her Unique Skill at full power.
Even after suffering severe damage from falling into a sea of magma following a mental attack invoking the Law of Slaughter, Arthur used Lostvayne’s cosmic energy to recover and evade the follow-up strikes.
The collision of law and cosmic energies from their attacks devastated the land, sending fissures across the ground and opening gaps from which geysers of molten magma erupted.
A spiralling vortex of wind and destruction energy struck Arthur as he attempted to dodge an attack, slamming him into the ground and leaving a crater.
He rolled aside just as a chain of death law energy crashed into the spot he had just vacated, tearing open fissures that radiated necrotic energy, and when he looked up, he saw more chains descending from above.
“Ketten der Sterblichkeit!”
|¬Shattered Horizon!¬|
Arthur unleashed a burst of law energy, sending countless laser-like beams erupting outward from his body, curving through the air to collide with the falling chains in explosive bursts.
Forcing himself back to his feet, he charged forward, but the man vanished and reappeared behind him, driving a destruction-infused punch into his back that sent him crashing into the ground once more.
Before the man could follow up with a spear of death energy erupting from below, Arthur manipulated gravity to propel himself upward.
His opponent launched himself from the ground in pursuit, and the two moved with such speed that they appeared as streaks of crimson and silver light to Artemisia and Beatrix, who kept moving constantly, trying to remain close enough to keep Arthur within the range of Beatrix’s Chrono-Space Dominion.
Evan flew in from behind, seizing both Artemisia and Beatrix by the arms before activating Bink, teleporting them directly beneath where Arthur and the unknown man clashed in the sky.
The moment they reappeared, he released them, his grimoire already floating in front of him with its pages fluttering until it stopped on one.
Before Artemisia could even voice whatever she had on her mind, Evan tore the page free and thrust it toward her face.
“Start drawing this magic circle on the ground, quickly.”
“What is—?”
She didn’t even finish before Evan cut her off.
“It’s an amplification magic circle. Quick, start drawing it already!”
Without waiting further, Evan activated his Inventory and expanded the entrance, widening the dark portal to nearly two meters. From within, thousands of magic stones began to pour out, and he dragged out the corpses of the devil dragons he had collected after fighting Azzonnin in the Infernal Dimension.
He set the corpses on the ground while Artemisia, recognising the urgency, used her magic to replicate the circle inscribed on the page.
As she worked, she noticed that at specific openings in the circle’s structure, Evan was carefully placing dragon corpses or scattering piles of magic stones.
These magic stones were the ones Evan had been gathering back in the future on Aidos. They were the ones he’d prepared for his plan in Tarse, stones he intended to use for various other purposes, and stones he had collected simply to accumulate wealth.
There were many, most of them at the Epic Level, the Level he was at when he’d collected them. But since arriving in the past, his collection had expanded to include Legendary and even Sovereign Level magic stones, and now, he poured them out onto the magic circle Artemisia was drawing.
“Nekrotischer Kataklysmus + Konvergenz!”
Arthur and the unknown opponent continued clashing above, the man fusing two death law attacks into a spiralling torrent of destructive energy that scorched the earth to ash and poisoned the air, but Arthur unleashed an Annihilation Pulse to erase the spreading poison around him as he charged forward through the air to close the distance.
“Brennende Apokalypse!
Die Herrschaft des Donners!”
Flames consumed the surrounding space, immediately followed by an electrified shockwave that blasted Arthur backwards before he could even part the initial inferno.
The randomisation of laws made the assault nearly impossible to anticipate, even with Beatrix’s illusions of the future, and with the near absence of delay between each attack, Arthur was left with far too little time to respond properly.
Artemisia and Evan continued their work on the magic circle even as the battle raged overhead, and when both combatants clashed again in an explosion of force that devastated the landscape for miles, Evan simply cast Spell Number 4 to shield himself and the two girls, keeping his concentration fixed on the circle.
“Artemisia, when I activate this thing, I’ll need you to help me sustain it since I’ll be too occupied attacking to do so.
All you have to do is keep the magic power flowing through it, within it, and make sure it does not collapse.”
Artemisia silently nodded at Evan’s words, lifting her gaze just in time to see Arthur and his opponent sent flying after a clash, leaving trails of destruction as they crashed violently across the ruined land.
The cracks across the man’s body spread further when he crashed into the ground, and blood spilt from his mouth. His fingers began disintegrating into dust, but he halted the collapse with his temporal powers as he forced himself to his feet.
‘Not yet…! I need to exhaust that Sword’s power!’
With a sweeping motion of his hand, the man conjured a host of elemental weapons, flaming spears, jagged icicles, lightning compressed into blades, and spinning shards of earth.
“Elementares Arsenal.”
Each construct gleamed with cosmic energy as they shot forward, streaking toward Arthur with terrifying speed.
Arthur lifted Lostvayne, slowing the incoming barrage with his Time Pseudo-Authority, but the man activated the Time Sigil glowing on the back of his palm, restoring their hypersonic velocity with his own technique.
“Zeitrückgewinnung.”
Arthur attempted to teleport out of range, but the man warped spacetime with the Sigil, forcing him to meet the onslaught head-on. Flaming spears burst into embers as his blade cut them apart, icicles shattered into crystal fragments, and lightning blades dissolved under the overwhelming force of his destruction energy.
As the weapon barrage intensified, Arthur summoned his other Ego Sword into his left hand, wielding both blades in unison to block the attacks that slipped past the other.
“Dimensionales Warp-Sperrfeuer.”
The man warped his elemental projectiles through space, making them vanish and reappear close to Arthur, with some even bypassing time entirely to strike without warning.
Even with Beatrix’s time illusions assisting him, the sheer number and speed of the weapons forced wounds to accumulate across his body. However, the constant flow of cosmic energy coursing through him healed each injury almost as quickly as it formed.
Arthur planted his feet onto the ground with gravity law, expanding his gravity field into a spherical barrier that bent space around him and distorted the trajectories of the incoming weapons.
But the man’s next technique rendered the shield useless.
“Zerstörerische Spirale.”
The weapons of ‘Elementares Arsenal’ were now infused with destruction energy, their nature allowing them to easily pierce through Arthur’s gravity shield.
Even so, Arthur remained standing as the semi-transparent sword in his left hand, which had always gleamed like glass, began to melt. The surface of the blade turned molten, flowing like liquid, and part of its mass spread across his body, forming a second layer of metallic skin that shimmered faintly, strengthening his defences.
Seeing this, his opponent changed tactics, gathering lightning energy as he charged directly at Arthur, shaping it into a massive great sword which he swung down upon him.
Arthur leapt aside to avoid the strike, but just as he did, the man’s eyes turned towards him, glowing intensely as he roared.
“Blitzzerstörung!”
