Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 777 - 777: A Wonderful Plan for Self-Preservation

True Voice.

A passive infusion of World Law power into the tongue of a Higher Existence.

Artemisia had sometimes used it when she spoke to him urgently. No, it was more apt to say that it was Artemisia’s ‘natural’ voice.

The normal voice she used to speak with him most of the time, was her making a conscious effort to withhold the power in her tongue so her voice only rang out in his ears.

But sometimes, she occasionally slipped back into her True Voice.

It was also because of this, that the Indirect Messaging Feature of the System existed.

[The goddess ‘Artemisia’ says …]

In cases like that, she was speaking with her True Voice, and the System was filtering out the power in her words and presenting it to him as a normal text message he could read.

This was to reduce the burden that the True Voice placed on the soul of a lower existence. He still remembered when he first came to Aidos and was still so weak that even the residual power left after Indirect Messaging was so much that his mind was on the verge of collapse.

Still, that system wasn’t perfect as sometimes, Artemisia’s True Voice occasionally bypassed the filtering.

Evan looked back at Agnes who had finally regained complete calm. At that time, the waiter entered to deliver the second course of their meal and they remained silent until he left the room.

The boy was about to dig into his food, his fork poised above the plate, when Agnes suddenly started speaking. Her voice broke the silence, causing him to pause and look up, his attention drawn away from his meal.

“Let’s say that there’s an Anthill in your backyard, and someone drops a small gem…an Onyx, for example.”

Evan set down his cutlery and looked at her, curious to see where she was going with this sudden analogy

“This Onyx though small, is worth hundreds of millions. Unfortunately, it rolls into the Anthill in your backyard and ends up lodged somewhere deep within.

I highly doubt you would crouch down to the ground and dirty your hands trying to carefully navigate inside the Anthill to find the Onyx.

I’m more inclined to believe that you, as well as every other normal human, would destroy the Anthill and pick up the Onyx from its ruins.”

“Where are you getting with this?”

Evan sensed she was drawing a parallel to something real with this Anthill story, but he wasn’t sure what.

Agnes didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point.

“Where am I getting? It’s not far.

To Higher Existences, us Mortals might as well be slightly bigger ants.

So, let’s say that this ‘Anthill’ is our World ‘Aidos’ and the ‘Onyx’ is the ‘Forbidden Cosmic Source’.

What do you think would happen if they want to get to the ‘Onyx’?”

They’d destroy it and retrieve the Onyx from its ruins.

That was the unspoken answer that both of them had to this question. Agnes, however, wasn’t done yet.

“Now, imagine it’s not an Onyx that falls into the Anthill, but a small ‘poison bottle’ which you originally intended to destroy.

And if you were to destroy the Anthill, it would also destroy the bottle as it’s crumbling down.”

“You’re saying that in order to get rid of the Forbidden Cosmic Source (FCS), the gods would not hesitate to destroy the entire world?”

“Yes. They would not.

Our saving grace is the fact that they are unaware that it’s here.

Well…99% of them are.”

Agnes was insinuating that some of the gods were aware of the FCS’s presence on Aidos, but for some reason, had chosen not to act.

This implied some gods might have ulterior motives or constraints preventing them from intervening.

Evan guessed that ‘constraints’ were probably the reason in this case.

“Artemisia knows this, and yet she still hid that thing on Aidos. Dooming this entire world to the Wrath of the gods, were they to ever discover its presence here.

I don’t know what’s special about Aidos that makes it such that the gods did not search here despite knowing this World is governed by Artemisia, but that would not last forever.

If the Demons could find it, so can the gods.”

This brought Agnes’ narration to an end, and marked the beginning of her…reasons.

“The Demons know where this thing is, and they want it for themselves.

So, the thought came about…why not let the Demons take this thing with them to their own World, so if the gods were to ever discover its location, then their wrath would fall on the Demons.

We can just sit back and watch the gods and Demons battle it out on their own, while we remain uninvolved.”

“So, you want to shift the burden.”

Agnes nodded with a light smile, leaning forward over the tale as she looked Evan in the eyes and asked.

“Sounds like a Wonderful plan for Self-Preservation, don’t you think?”

“Yes, it’s wonderful if you ignore the part that for this plan to be a success, it’s imperative you let in the demons to Aidos.

The same Demons who invaded this world and killed hundreds of millions in the process, through the sacrifices of hundreds of millions more!

Have you not seen the Dark Continent, Agnes? Take a look at the Billowy Depths Ocean and see the floating remnants of islands destroyed in battle 1000 years ago.

You want to let the beings who caused all that back into Aidos once more time?”

If Agnes truly believed everything that she had just told him, then Evan understood why “Aidos” had not designated her as a ‘World Enemy’.

BUT!

The is ‘Self Preservation’ plan as she called it; Evan had a thousand and one problems with it.

Allowing the Demons back into Aidos risked repeating history and causing more devastation than the war 1000 years ago.

“Leaving aside how I doubt the Authenticity of everything you just told me.

What makes you believe that the High Ranked Demons of Gozon are just going to quietly and obediently get the fuck out and go back to their World after getting the FCS?”

This was one of Evan’s major problems with Agnes’ reasoning.

With their goal on Aidos fulfilled—if the FCS was really their goal—why would the Demons obediently go back?

It should not be forgotten, that Gozonians were Planet Conquerors who loved Prime Worlds so soooo much.

Why would they leave Aidos alone?

Evan’s skepticism underscored the complexity and potential fallout of their actions—if things went as smoothly as Agnes wished.

“That’s where the Demonic Hand comes in. We’re the ones who’re gonna bring them in, and we’re gonna be the ones to kick them out as well.”

“Kick them out, you say?

Aidos barely repelled the Demons 1000 years ago. And we had hundreds of Transcendents then! Every single Country on this Planet had at least one Level 900 then and with all that power, the best we managed was a draw.

Even the famed ‘Seven Heroes’ of legend died fighting against the Demons.

Now those Transcendents are gone, and as far as I know, the Demons are gonna be coming with TWICE the numbers they came with last time.

And guess what? The Demon King whom Artemisia stopped from entering this World 1000 years ago, has long since surpassed Transcendence and achieved a Level of Existence I don’t even know the name of.

Pray tell, how on Aidos, do you wanna kick them out?”

In Evan’s mini-outburst, he revealed pieces of information that left Agnes completely confused.

‘The Seven Heroes died against the Demons? What is he talking about? The Seven Heroes were the ones who ended the War and cleaned up the remaining Demons.

Also, Artemisia stopped the Demon King from entering Aidos during the War? That doesn’t match up with what I know…’

Agnes was curious about Evan’s statement regarding the Seven Heroes’ supposed death and how he knew this.

However, she could ‘see’ he wouldn’t be answering her questions until she addressed his query.

“If the World Formation reaches completion, we would gain total control of the Dimensional Rift and everything that comes through it.

By the time the Demons get the FCS, we can employ the planet’s defence mechanisms and its repulsion force against outsiders to expel the Demons back to Gozon.

It’s a fool proof plan.”

“Oh really?

If it’s so fool proof, then why does the World itself designate the ‘Demonic Hand’ as ‘Enemies’? Huh? Tell me.

If this plan would ‘Save’ the world, then why does the World that’s being ‘saved’ antagonize them?

You wanna tell me the World doesn’t wanna be saved?”

Evan rolled his eyes as he asked that last part, clicking his tongue in distaste.

After having met the consciousness of this World and understanding just what kind of existences Planetary Consciousnesses are, Evan was even more confident that the Demonic Hand’s plan was a load of hot bullshit.

The world’s antagonism toward the Demonic Hand suggested there were aspects of the plan or its execution that were fundamentally flawed or dangerous.

Agnes saw Evan was increasingly getting irritated and carefully selected her words to reply to him.

“The methods taken to achieve this total control are obviously less-than-humane. Millions would die in the process.

As opposed to the billions who would die if the gods were to nuke this World, then that number is but a small sacrifice for the World’s continued preservation.”

Hearing Agnes’ words, Evan gave her a blank stare before shaking his head.

“Small?

I need to open a dictionary and check. Maybe the Definition of the word ‘Small’ may have changed in the past millennia without me knowing. It must have started meaning hundreds of millions.

Also, last I checked, Agnes, the ‘World’ would not give a flying fuck if 40% of its population was to die out this instant.”
