Chapter 830 - 830: Sun got Burned
Conroe spun around, firing a blinding solar flare attack, but Evan raised the Gazebind Aegis, blocking the scorching beam, then thrust his sword forward and used Vortex.
The spiralling flames tore through Conroe’s defences, shredding layers of his skin and flesh. Conroe was knocked back but managed to aim a beam of sunlight from his blade, sending it towards Evan who blocked it with his shield.
In that short moment Evan raised his shield and inadvertently blocked his own vision, Conroe regained airborne balance and blitzed around him.
Evan was blown back by Conroe’s swift movements, hearing Danger Sense’s alarm as a blade stabbed at his back. Twisting his upper body, he narrowly avoided the first strike, only for the celestial to conjure a second sword to slash his leg.
Conroe’s attacks sliced through Evan’s dragon scales and Titanium Body-enhanced durability with ease, making one wonder if they were even there.
Down on the ground, Eliza who was in her Ethereal Equilibrium’s Support mode pointed her staff in Evan’s direction and sent streams of ether that healed his wounds almost as fast as they were inflicted.
Her eyes narrowed with concentration as she struggled to keep up with the speed of their battle. When Evan got a stab in on Conroe’s shoulder and halted his movements, she consumed 3 charges of her Child of Life skill instantly, applying ‘Regeneration Negation’ on the celestial.
This nullified his natural healing factor, but his Sunlight healing still worked fine and the most Eliza could do was slow it.
In the sky, Evan and Conroe’s brutal and bloody fight resumed with renewed vigour. Evan, bolstered by Eliza’s healing, clashed swords with Conroe once more, parrying the celestial’s swords and striking him in the chest. However, Conroe conjured another sword and sent it hurtling towards Evan from behind, with enough power that Stout Guardian and Elemental Shield combined couldn’t block it.
Evan teleported behind Conroe, but the celestial anticipated his move and turned around, thrusting his sword and stabbing Evan in the shoulder just as he reappeared.
Meanwhile, Conroe’s sunlight absorption, though slowed, still healed the wound Evan dealt to his chest.
Evan’s sword burned with prismatic flames as he swung it at Conroe’s head, prompting the celestial to block with one blade and counter with the other, aiming for Evan’s neck.
Ducking to dodge the strike, Evan opened his mouth and released a full-power dragon breath on Conroe’s torso, vaporizing his skin, burning away his flesh, and damaging his internal organs.
The force blasted Conroe back and he gritted his teeth to bear the pain while using his twin blades to release slashes of energy to keep Evan away long enough for him to heal.
Evan simply teleported behind him, but he turned his head around and used Solguard, the same technique he used to protect Faulin earlier.
It rebuffed Evan’s strike with relative ease, buying Conroe the time he needed to heal, but just then, a series of debuffs afflicted him.
Though he resisted most, a few defence and resistance reduction buffs stuck, and Evan proved their usefulness in the next second as he slashed through Conroe’s arm.
Conroe gritted his teeth, feeling the difference in his recovery speed, but pressed on with relentless aggression.
He used another Solar Flare but Evan countered with an Inferno comet, the two energies colliding in an explosion of light and fire.
Conroe blitzed around Evan, landing quick, precise strikes, but Evan’s Danger Sense allowed him to react fast enough and turn his shield, blocking the strikes and allowing himself to counter and get hits of his own in.
Their clash continued, reaching the ground as the two bashed through a group of Tarsian soldiers and CelSols, the powerful flames and sunlight emitted with each clash of weapons incinerating both sides without mercy.
Each time Conroe’s blades found their mark, Evan’s wounds were mended, and each time Evan’s sword drew blood, Conroe’s healing lagged just a bit more.
Evan blew Conroe away with a shockwave, but the Sun Celestial flipped around in mid-air and landed on his feet, springboarding off the ground and dashing towards Evan who met his sword in a swift clash.
He tossed away one of his Solar blades, enlarging the second one into a two-handed long sword and slashing at Evan with it.
Their weapons clashed with waves of shock and flames and immediately, Conroe raised his foot and stepped on Evan’s sword, pinning it to the ground as he pulled back his blade and thrust it towards Evan’s head.
Barely tilting his head to dodge, Evan let go of his weapon and grabbed Conroe’s arm with both hands, activating Adamantine Might as he lifted the man off the ground and flung him overhead.
Mid-air, Conroe shortened his blade and swung It to cut Evan from behind, but the Hero’s response was faster as he called the Unforged back into his hands and spun around to block Conroe’s slash.
Conroe fell on his back, slamming into the ground with enough force to crater it and by the time he could get to his feet, Evan was already in the air with his blade raised overhead.
“World Sunder!”
The slash of power came bearing down on him and Conroe fired solar beams from his hands and legs, using them like jet boosters to lift his body off the ground and avoid the strike.
|¬Sun Sword! ¬|
He jumped in the air and swung his blade down, releasing a searing slash of solar power, but Evan raised his left arm and summoned the Gazebind Aegis to block, tanking it even as the force made his feet dig into the ground.
Evan threw out his left foot to Conroe’s stomach, and Conroe responded by conjuring a short blade and swinging it at Evan, drawing a cut across the boy’s face.
Without regard for his wounds, Evan roused his aura and closed the short distance, thrusting his blade forward, but before he could activate Vortex, Conroe parried his blade to the ground and kicked the side of his leg.
Taking advantage of Evan’s temporary off-balance, Conroe delivered a horizontal slash from the side, which Evan blocked with the Gazebind Aegis, retaliating with a kick that the celestial dodged.
Before Evan could pull his sword back in preparation for an attack, Conroe reached out with his hand and grabbed Evan’s face, releasing a point-blank blast of flames that burned the boy’s skin off.
He then stabbed Evan in the stomach with his solar sword, following up with a kick to his legs that swept him off his feet.
Conroe brought down his blade to pierce Evan’s chest and end it, but Evan raised his left hand and summoned the Gazebind Aegis, blocking the strike while his right hand thrust the Unforged into Conroe’s shoulder.
“Explode!”
**BOOM!!
The prismatic flames on his sword exploded faster than Conroe could back away, nearly blowing off the celestial’s arm. When the smoke of the blast dissipated, Conroe’s arm, barely hanging on his shoulder by a few threads of flesh was revealed.
However, he concentrated the sunlight from the sky on his wounded shoulder, replicating the magnifying glass effect, only that it didn’t burn him but began to heal him, albeit slowly.
Evan charged at him and he met the Hero’s charge with his other hand, engulfing the entire arm in solar flames as he clashed repeatedly with Evan who used Frozen Inferno, coating his body in a mix of Mesarthim’s Orange Flames and HoI’s Icy mist.
Their weapons clanged with a resonating force, each strike more intense than the last. Evan’s prismatic flames collided with Conroe’s solar fire, creating explosive bursts of energy that rippled omnidirectionally.
Evan blew the celestial’s body away with a shockwave, buying a second to readjust his grip on his blade and activate Pierce Guard as he lunged forward and thrust his sword at Conroe’s wrist.
As if reading his mind, Conroe aimed for Evan’s wrist with his blade and the impact of their simultaneous stabs pierced their flesh, cut off some very important veins and sent their weapons spinning through the air.
The green light enveloping Evan’s body allowed him to continue fighting without regard for the blood spilling from his arm.
‘Electroflame.’
He conjured the rose of flames on Conroe’s face and faster than Conroe could get rid of them, Evan’s fist followed, landing a ‘Fracture’ and blasting off half the celestial’s facial skin in a distorted flash of lightning.
The force of the strike sent Conroe bashing through ruined buildings, knocking into many Tarsian soldiers and dragons, sending them hurtling through the air like debris.
A streak of crimson-gold light trailed after him, and as Conroe’s vision cleared, his face met Evan’s knee and his body lurched into the air.
Evan teleported behind him, kicking him toward the ground, then teleported to the ground and delivered a full-powered upward punch, knocking him skyward.
The Unforged Vale flew back into Evan’s healed hands and he thrust the blade forward, unleashing what was arguably his most powerful Vortex so far.
The spiralling mass of prismatic flames collided with Conroe, sending him crashing down with meteoric force.
Evan followed, his blade poised to strike, however, Conroe threw up his leg and kicked Evan’s hand, diverting his sword trajectory.
Simultaneously, he thrust a sword of solar energy with his good arm, impaling Evan’s stomach with such force that the blade pierced through to the other side.
“Gug!”
The Hero coughed out blood, but his body still moved. His left hand grabbed onto Conroe’s right arm that was stabbing him, freezing it in place with Harbinger of Ice.
His right leg stomped on Conroe’s still-wounded left arm, pinning it to the ground with a layer of frost, before he drove his sword into the man’s shoulder again.
Evan’s mouth opened and when Conroe saw energy condensing within it, his body trembled with fear.
|¬Solguard!!! ¬|
**BOOOMM!!!!!
A point-blank, full-powered breath attack crashed onto the spherical shield with ferocious intensity.
Evan poured every ounce of energy he could muster into the breath attack, consuming more than his energy regeneration skill could replenish.
The relentless assault cracked Solguard, Conroe’s strongest defence, and in the next second, it shattered. The hyper beam struck Conroe in the face, and Evan directed the beam all over Conroe’s body, tearing through his flesh.
Blood sprayed everywhere as the relentless energy left Conroe wounded and broken, soaking the ground with his lifeblood.
Evan cancelled the breath attack, then stomped on Conroe’s chest, activating Collapse.
The seismic waves shattered Conroe’s rib cage, the bones cracking with a sickening sound as the impact sent shockwaves through his body.
Blood bubbled from Conroe’s mouth, and his eyes widened in agony.
Evan grabbed Conroe’s bloodied face, unfurling his wings and beating them fiercely. He took off, flying forward at top speed while dragging Conroe’s head across the ground.
The tortured celestial’s body left a bloody trail as Evan blitzed across Kreah, heading straight for the centre where Faulin stood.
