Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 836 - 836: Rift in Space Number 1

‘Fucking hell!’

Evan cursed internally and Conroe laughed aloud as his eyes returned to normal and he turned back to the others.

Waves of celestial energy emanated from him, sending shockwaves that hurled Evan’s companions backwards, inflicting grievous injuries upon them.

More divinity flowed through him and into the Tier 8 magic circle hovering behind him.

He used his Sun powers to emanate a bright light from his being, banishing all shadows and preventing Kuro from teleporting anyone away.

The heat melted the ice that Milena tried to conjure to freeze Nadarus’ wounds and evaporated the water the ice melted into.

Consuming some of his celestial energy, he created spatial pressure to force Kayla and Amy down to their knees, concentrating more on Kayla since she was the bigger threat.

He turned his eyes to Eliza who was still trying to heal her companions despite her internal injuries and was about to act when Kayla suddenly manifested her True Spirit Raiment.

A burst of magical power erupted from her, filling the air with an intense, crackling energy. Golden lightning surged and danced around her, illuminating the battlefield with a blinding brilliance.

Her form was encased in a radiant glow, and an ornate half-crown adorned with shimmering jewels materialized on her head.

The dazzling display of power and transformation caught the attention of all the Celestials, and Roselia took advantage of this opening to retrieve the item Evan stopped her from using when Faulin exuviated earlier.

A white key appeared in her hands and she thrust it into the empty space before her, giving it a turn.

In a brilliant flash of light, a book materialized in her hands.

The book emitted a pristine white light and radiated an aura of ‘holiness’, combined with an immense amount of Demonic Energy that sent shivers down the spines of all the Celestials.

This familiar energy diverted their attention from Kayla to Roselia, each reacting with the same surprised exclamation.

“””The Book of Lumière?!”””

¬How is that thing here?!¬

“You’re still a menace even after Death, Alvey Sargon!!”

Faster than the FCDs could react, the CelSol commanders lunged at Roselia, determined to stop her from disrupting Conroe’s imminent exuviation. Everything was finally going their way, and they couldn’t afford any setbacks.

However, the sheer amount of Demonic Energy stored in the Book of Lumière was enough to send them all flying with a single burst of power.

Glazard drew Frostshade and swung it at Roselia, unleashing a wave of icy power. However, Amy dashed in front of the Demoness, using her Unique Skill to unleash a counterwave of black flames, buying Roselia the crucial time she needed.

Roselia drew on every last dredge of demonic energy within her body, combining it with the Book of Lumière’s power to activate it with the Authority bestowed upon her by its original owner.

The grimoire’s pages fluttered, its text glowing as demonic energy gathered before her. She then glanced at Kayla and the Spirit quickly understood her intentions.

Pooling their energies, the two launched their most powerful combination attack at the Celestial Deity on the brink of Exuviation.

Naturally, Conroe wasn’t about to stand idly by.

He tapped into his celestial energy reserves, mixing it with the borrowed divinity and harnessed the law of fire to retaliate.

The two attacks collided midway, and the clash of Deity-level divinity and demonic energy tore apart the fabric of spacetime, forming a volatile rift that consumed and neutralized their energies entirely.

While this was happening, Roselia retrieved the soul of Seraphael, which she had taken when she killed him, using it as fuel for another combo attack with Kayla who poured all her lightning and spatial power into a giant arrow of golden light.

Together, they launched the attack, and Conroe quickly redirected his energy to defence.

¬Solguard! ¬

Confident in his shield, Conroe believed it would block their attack. But Roselia used the last bit of energy from Seraphael’s soul to power her idiosyncrasy, opening a hole in the defensive barrier just before the arrow could collide with it.

**BAAAMM!!!

This allowed the enormous arrow of Demonic Light, Space, and Lightning law energies to hit him squarely, with an impact that impact threw him off the centre of the Harvest Festival Spell Circle, severing the power that had been flowing into him.

He crashed onto the ground, blood spilling from his torso when the arrow had pierced him, bypassing his Transcendent Durability like it wasn’t even there. This was a result of Alvey’s Light-Space power stored within the Book of Lumière.

Lying wounded and defenceless on the ground, Conroe was now open to another attack, presenting the perfect opportunity to defeat him.

The FCDs scrambled to get him back into the Harvest Festival spell circle, with Glazard and Lorethi launching attacks at the Spirit-Demon duo to prevent them from unleashing another combo.

However, Roselia and Kayla were never aiming for Conroe in the first place.

They just wanted to get him out of the way so they could get to Evan. Unfortunately, their decision proved to do more harm than good.

With its proxy caster temporarily incapacitated, the Spatiotemporal Magic Circle sucked in lingering energy residues from the surroundings and automictically activated.

Artemisia’s Divinity was drawn in. Kayla’s residual lightning energy followed. The ‘Light-Space’ from the Book of Lumière. The Destructive essence from Evan, the spell’s target. The Icy energy expelled from Frostshade. Lastly, K̴̬̚i̷̛̹r̴̐ͅo̷͇̔n̷̺̚ë̴̱’s divinity within the Tier 8 Magic Circle.

All these energies were sucked into the magic circle and the laws of time and space gained the energy factors it needed.

As if puncturing a hole through the fabric of space-time, a portal tore open right in behind Evan.

It gleamed with vibrant, swirling colours, resembling an otherworldly kaleidoscope suspended in the cosmos. Its edges crackled with raw energy, offering fleeting glimpses of an expansive starry void beyond.

Radiating waves of vibrant energies, the portal warped the air around it, causing it to shimmer and distort.

The concentrated ambient universal law and cosmic energies from the void of space, typically filtered by the planet’s atmosphere, surged through. This powerful influx forcefully dispersed everyone’s energies and hurled them back nearly a hundred meters in an instant with a blast of power.

From within the portal, the cerulean blue chains of time lunged forward and ensnared Evan in an instant, pulling him into it as the portal closed up barely a second later, returning the planet’s Space-time fabric to normal.

“?!!”

In that moment, Roselia, Nadarus, Kayla, Kuro, Milena, and Eliza— simultaneously felt a piercing pain in their chests, as if something had been suddenly ripped out from them.

That momentary pain was followed by an unsettling sensation of ‘hollowness’, like there was something ‘missing’.

Laurene and David’s Hero Resonance Power boost suddenly reduced by 1/3.

Roselia’s expression contorted into a frown while Kayla’s turned into one of deep distress.

“…n-no…”

That word barely escaped Eliza’s lips as her knees gave way beneath her. The girl was overcome by an indescribable feeling of despair—as if the World’s end was at hand.

That description wasn’t an exaggeration; it felt as if her entire world was crumbling at that very moment.

No one needed to tell them what had happened.

All six of them felt it instinctively—the fact that their contracts with Evan had been abruptly severed.

This unilateral severance of their contracts could only signify one grim reality:

Evan…was gone.

◇ ◇ ◇

The instant that Evan vanished, the chains of causality on Artemisia shattered into fragments of light and disappeared.

Artemisia understood that this was because K̴̬̚i̷̛̹r̴̐ͅo̷͇̔n̷̺̚ë̴̱had left Aidos at that same moment.

Without hesitation, Artemisia moved her hands, gathering all the spatial law energy across the entire planet within her palms.

AUTHORITY OF SPACE!!

Artemisa bellowed and the law of space obeyed of her will.

‘It was a displacement spell…and he just got displaced, he couldn’t have gone too far!

If I can find where in Space it’s sending him before it can send him through Time, I can interfere in the spatial tunnel and bring him back!’

Though she was the goddess of Evolution and not of Space-Time manipulation, Artemisia had dabbled in Basic Time Laws due to her dealings with EOTD.

That knowledge was enough for her to infer the nature of the Tier 8 spell.

In a heartbeat, she arrived at the spot where Evan had disappeared, grabbing space with her hands and tearing it open like a piece of cloth, recreating the portal that had just taken him.

She tried to jump inside to pursue him, but a forcefield rebounded her, knocking her body to the ground.

Her eyes widened in shock as she looked up at the still-open portal and screamed.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

From within the portal Artemisia had created, a man floated out.

He wore a tailored black three-piece suit with a double-breasted jacket and a similarly designed waistcoat. His black leather brogue shoes shone in the morning sunlight, and a silver chain watch adorned his left wrist, accompanied by a matching ring on one of his fingers.

His face, however, was obscured by a distorted mosaic of colours.

Nevertheless, Artemisia knew what the face behind that mosaic looked like, and that was precisely why she was angry that he of all people had stopped her.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, EOTD! !

Hearing Artemisia’s voice, Eliza snapped out of her daze and turned her head in the direction of the man who had given Evan his BoD skill.

Roselia, curious about this figure, also turned despite the current chaos.

Similarly, they felt a gaze rest upon them for a moment, followed by a notification from the Universe’s system.

[The ‘Eternal of Time and Destruction’ gazes in your direction.]
