Chapter 853 - 853: Evan’s Emergency Protocol III
[Anyway, Xolgren is a threat and so is his summoning. But unlike me, he lacks an accurate map of the Planet’s hotspots.
The Demonic Hand knows some of them, but they only know the surface ones, many of which already have major cities built over them. Since they’re trying to stay under the radar, they’ll target the lesser-known, remote hotspots.
Roselia, Nadarus, Liz, Kayla, Amy, and Milena: Your first task is to siphon energy from the hotspots located outside of populated areas. Use the items from the box labelled ‘Hotspot’ stored in the basement of Oak Avenue Manor, and stop just short of triggering the Planet’s defences.
Xolgren will avoid nearly depleted hotspots and seek out fresh ones to avoid detection.
For the hotspots that need to be destroyed, Emperor Lloris, make it look like you’re destroying them because the FCDs attempted to use one to kill millions and you don’t want them using another. Frame it as a necessary action to protect the people.
Liz, I need you to contact Lady Felyela. Have her accompany King Kolvar to cast the spell Kethryllia used in Lacertilia—World Magic: Spell Number 25: World Isolation Barrier—on the hotspot located between the Aneford Region’s Twin Cities of Ardpus and Zafling. This hotspot has ten energy veins, so siphoning it isn’t feasible. Instead, conceal it
There’s a copy of the modified magic circle and casting instructions in my middle bedside drawer. I’ve adjusted the spell circle to include a concealment function, so Felyela should use those instructions.]
Evan downed a glass of water after speaking, taking a deep breath before continuing his words.
[For Ardpus and Zafling, I need you guys to be extremely careful; there’s a 90% chance that you may encounter the Peak Rank Demon who appeared in Lacertilia last year— {Vaeri Soliana Valren}.
Unlike her contractor who cannot leave the Dark Continent for now, Vaeri is free to roam as she pleases. The ‘Second Finger’ once trained Deram Hester and this connection is why Deram would involve Vaeri in summoning demons from other worlds.
That’s why I want King Kolvar to accompany Felyela for this—for protection. In case Vaeri shows up and it turns into a fight, King Kolvar can hold her off while everyone else runs.
I have told Liz this before, but Vaeri is a ‘Frost Demon’. Yet, with her spatial and gravity powers, she’s as strong as the Second Finger. Think carefully about what this means.]
Right after Evan said this, he paused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he reconsidered his plan.
[Wait, scratch that. Having King Kolvar in Tarse could raise suspicions.
While most might overlook it, the First Finger would certainly become suspicious. I need someone powerful, yet unobtrusive enough that their presence in Tarse won’t draw unwanted attention or connect back to me.]
Looking up, Evan made his decision and spoke.
[King Kolvar. I need you to drag Rathal back from wherever he is on the Beta Continent and get him to follow Felyela.]
Kolvar nodded, understanding the logic behind Evan’s request. With that settled, Evan shifted his focus.
[Laurene, you and Leviah need to venture into Tarse and visit certain Desert Tribes located above energy veins. I need you to inscribe magic circles on the ground for me.]
Liz, you’re up again. Please hand Laurene the folder from my third bedside drawer—the one labelled ‘HOW TO MAKE IT RAIN FIRE’.]
Evan’s words were followed by a playful remark that caused Artemisia to frown.
[Haha, Artemisia is definitely not gonna like that one.]
Once the recording finished, Eliza considered searching her and Evan’s bedroom for any additional important-sounding documents he might have left lying around.
But just as she thought this, Artemisia vanished from the room, causing the recording to pause as she moved out of the 15-meter range.
Moments later, Artemisia reappeared, carrying two items. She handed one to the bewildered Eliza and began examining the other, whose label was the same one Evan had just mentioned.
Artemisia flipped through it, finding numerous incomplete magic circles and their accompanying instructions inside.
‘A bunch of incomplete spells…!? No, it’s not!’
She quickly realised what was up after coincidentally holding two of the ‘incomplete’ magic circles next to each other.
Artemisia conjured a map of Tarse using light magic and placed the magic circles on the locations Evan had specified.
Initially, everyone watched in curiosity, but seconds later, their eyes widened as the full nature of Evan’s plan slowly revealed itself.
The so-called ‘incomplete’ magic circles, when arranged across Tarse, revealed themselves as components of a colossal, country-wide magic circle.
Evan planned to execute a spell with a magic circle spanning the entire country!
However, no one knew what spell this was—not even Artemisia.
‘Did he get this from the Akashic Page? This is problematic. I can’t discern the spell’s purpose because the Akashic Record is incomplete. All information on Aidosian spells resides in the Akashic Page, and since Evan possesses it, I can’t use the Record to uncover any details…’
Pondering Evan’s intentions only yielded frustration, so the goddess sighed and returned the papers to the folder, handing them to Laurene.
“…do you know what spell that is?”
“No.”
“?!”
Laurene was surprised that the goddess didn’t know, but Roselia found this perfectly normal.
“He just said she wouldn’t like whatever that was, and he made this recording knowing she would be present.
There’s no way he wouldn’t know that she would analyse it, so I’m guessing he either arranged them improperly, or he left out a lot of information so she wouldn’t be able to make sense of it and know what he’s planning.”
Roselia’s words made sense to everyone, adding a new layer of admiration for Evan’s meticulous planning.
The recording resumed after this little episode and it showed Evan ticking off items from the list he held in his hands.
[Wiping out remnant FCDs, concealing and destroying energy hotspots, setting up magic circles in Tarse, and now, Demonic Hand bases.]
Evan approached the TV, using red and blue markers to highlight specific locations on the Tarse map.
[Red indicates areas you should MOST DEFINETLY AVOID, and blue is for places you should Nuke everything up.
For Example, Ekamery in the Zhosa Region is where the Sixth Finger’s Senior Members and their Contracted Demons are chilling. Don’t dare go near there.
Liz! I call upon you once more.
This time, not from our bedroom but from your spatial ring—inside the box with my clothes. You’ll find a set of maps there. These are the internal layouts of the bases I want you to target, including building plans, architectural schematics, and escape routes.]
All eyes shifted to Eliza as she quietly retrieved the box Evan mentioned. After removing the clothes, she discovered neatly arranged papers. Opening the first two, she found maps of an abandoned military fortress that Lloris had believed was buried by the desert.
Although the desert had indeed covered it, the Demonic Hand had repurposed the submerged fortress into a concealed underground base.
[These maps cover some bases for the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Divisions. The objective is to launch a Simultaneous attack like we did at the beginning of November.
King Kolvar, I want you to cooperate with the ‘Dragon Lord to plan this one. After this, I want you all to lay low for a while.
The Demonic Hand needs to think that this attack is just ‘The Five’ messing with them again, and not think I’m behind it like the last time.
Attacking the bases should be your final agenda. Only after you’ve completed the other tasks should you proceed to nuke those Demonic Hand members.]
Evan sighed and tossed the files in his hand away, before leaning forward to see how long the video had been recording.
[30 minutes, huh? Oh well, time to begin rounding this up then.
I have no idea where I’d be or how I’ll be when this is played, but with Artemisia present, you can infer my situation from her. I’d also need Artemisia’s help in preventing the First Finger from realising I’m missing for as long as possible. Use the Factor Mimic I kept in the Tower of Trials.]
[Rest assured, I’d definitely be back in action. I’ve got lots of things to do, after all.]
Holding up his hands, he began counting with his fingers as he listed the ‘things he had to do.’
[I’ve got to fuck up the Demonic Hand, fuck up the Demonic Hand, fuck up the Demonic Hand—important things need to be repeated.
Get to the Beta Continent, prevent ‘Leo’ from dying, unseal Leviah’s little bro, ask Abigail why the fuck she’s creating Homunculi for Agnes, find Agnes’ real body and smack sense into her, find out which one of Artemisia’s subordinates is probably spreading false info about why the Demons are attacking-]
“Wait, what?”
Artemisia reflexively voiced out this question when she heard Evan’s words. What he was saying was completely foreign to her, but the Hologram Evan continued speaking without a care in the world.
[-need to get Morass’ crown, Marry Liz, wake Hydran’s sister, stop the Wolf of the END-]
“Huh?”
Now it was Eliza’s turn to be dumbfounded as if her ears did not deceive her, Evan casually stated something about marrying her inside his plans like it was the most normal thing.
Despite having agreed to the proposal, Evan’s casual mention of it, amidst the current situation, struck her as oddly endearing. A hint of a smile touched her lips for the first time since the 10th, warmed by Evan’s familiar ease.
However, all things eventually came to an end, and this recording was no exception. Evan continued in his usual playful voice.
[One last thing. Liz, I’m gonna need you to make a trip for me. Head to Luka Town—where we first met—and ask that grumpy receptionist John to give you “the package I wish he didn’t have to ever deliver”. He’d understand.
The contents are for your eyes only. Not like it’d open if there’s anyone that’s not you in a 50-metre radius.]
It seemed Evan had a special message for Eliza, and he kept at a location he knew Eliza wouldn’t forget. Though it was with someone whose existence Eliza had forgotten.
[Alright, that’s about it. Stay sharp, everyone. And hey, don’t forget to take breaks—can’t have you all looking like zombies when I get back. Catch you later!]
The hologram flickered and then disappeared, leaving the room in a brief, reflective silence as the reality of Evan’s absence settled in once more.
