Chapter 875 - 875: The Fake Divine Abomination
The inside of its head had been carved out, and something was growing in its place; a mishmash of flesh and muscle, with a heart and various organs pulsating and wrenching around the cavity in randomized motions.
Light gold liquid seeped through the orifices and cascaded down its neck, a liquid the gods recognized as the same one running through their veins.
Rilene and Uvton could not sense it as they were not physically present, but it gave off a faint aura of divinity.
“…are you sure that thing is a ‘Fake Divine’?”
Uvton asked just for confirmation and Artemisia nodded in affirmation.
[It is most definitely one. I took a sample of its flesh and used my skill on it.
Whoever this poor soul was, they were born as an elf.]
There was clearly nothing ‘elven’ left about what they were looking at.
[I detected Divine Factors inside the body…more divine factors than even demigods would have. Those divine factors were artificially induced, and a great percentage were once ‘Blank’ Race Factors too.
Rather than a ‘Fake Divine’, this thing is more of a ‘Fake Half-god’.]
She concluded her explanation and Beatrix added a few extra lines after.
[That’s the conclusion we came to after seeing this appearance with the golden blood, out-of-whack divinity and all.
If we want complete confirmation, we’re gonna need Arthur’s help.]
“Arthur?”
The name her daughter called was unfamiliar, so Rilene raised a brow in question. Seeing this, Uvton turned to her with a deadpan gaze and spoke.
“That’s the Progenitor godslayer’s name. How do you not know this yet?”
“…”
Rilene looked away, choosing to keep silent rather than admit she didn’t go through a single one of the many reports on Arthur her subordinates had been bringing her since last December.
For reference, it was currently April.
Uvton sighed and turned his gaze back to Beatrix, asking why Arthur’s confirmation was necessary even with Artemisia’s power.
[According to him, Progenitors can tell what Race and ‘Breed’ someone is with a single glance and no form of obfuscation can stop this ability of his because it uses something called Cosmic Energy or so…?
Bottom line is he can tell the Fake Divines apart from the real ones and…]
Uvton tuned out the second half of Beatrix’s words and turned his gaze towards his daughter. He didn’t need a word for Artemisia to understand why he looked at her and the girl silently shook her head, making the man’s expression shift for a split second.
This little interaction confirmed Evan’s earlier suspicion—that Artemisia was hiding something about her race. And Arthur had most likely figured out this ‘something’.
As for the others in the room, Jamie raised a brow in curiosity when he heard Cosmic Energy being mentioned. His expression changed to one of clear intrigue as well.
“So, are you going to go back and get him to accompany you?”
In response to his question, Beatrix twisted her lips a bit and spoke.
[Getting here was a hassle, but we’re gonna have to go back since I doubt Arty and I can explore it all on our own.
The buildings in this place are like labyrinths.
If there are any Fake Divine factories in this place, they might be abandoned. Even so, it’s something that’s sure to get Arthur’s attention.
The problem here is that Arthur has been out of commission for a while so I’m not sure we can even talk to him.]
“What do you mean by he’s ‘Out of Commission’?”
Jamie hadn’t heard anything of the sort, so he was curious and Beatrix provided an explanation of the happenings of 7 days ago.
[Well, after Arthur and Evan finished dealing with some Serial Killer, we got back to where Alvey was and Arthur had a series of strange reactions.
He then teleported out of the place and by the time we found where he went, he was already unconscious, inside some sort of barrier that accelerated time within it.
The sheer amount of time law energy he was drawing to himself was so much that even though I do NOT have the nodes responsible for perceiving genuine Law energies in my soul, I could physically see the Law energy.
But anyway, according to Alvey, he’s in some sort of deep Law Comprehension session and we have no idea when he’s gonna wake up.]
Beatrix paused for a moment to catch her breath before continuing right after.
[He’s got this really scary sword standing guard and I feel it’d definitely attack us if we try to wake him up.]
The mention of a ‘Scary Sword’ made Jamie chuckle a bit, and he raised his palm, generating a hologram of a weapon as he asked.
“Does the sword look like this?”
Beatrix squinted at the projection, her initial nod faltering before she shook her head and corrected him.
[The sword has silver lines, not red like the one your hologram has.]
Hearing the colour of the lines on the blade, Jamie’s eyes widened in surprise and he leaned forward, asking her for double confirmation.
“You’re sure it has silver lines?”
[…yeah? Is that bad?]
Jamie erupted into laughter, clutching his stomach as if he couldn’t contain himself. His sudden outburst left Rilene and Uvton exchanging puzzled glances, unsure of what had triggered such a reaction.
But before they could request an explanation, the space beside him rippled and then tore open. From the tear, emerged a long sword that made both Rilene and Uvton instinctively back away.
The Sword had a polished obsidian hilt, exuding darkness and mystique. Its blade trailed an iridescent mist as it moved through the air and there were intricate patterns on its surface, resembling a night sky with swirling galaxies and nebulae.
Both gods shot a glance at Jamie, confused by his sudden summoning of his weapon.
They understood he wasn’t the type to brandish his weapon without reason, and the little Q&A between him and Beatrix over the colour of Arthur’s sword lines didn’t seem worthy of such a dramatic gesture.
For Jamie and his Ego Weapon, though, this was no small matter. When it came to Arthur’s blade, that subtle difference between the silver and red lines on the sword meant everything.
Pointing toward his weapon, Jamie finally spoke, his tone surprisingly calm.
“Arthur’s sword is stronger than my Galaxy Sword right here.”
“WHAT?!”
Rilene’s eyes widened in disbelief, nearly popping out of her skull. Uvton, though more reserved, looked equally astonished.
“It shouldn’t be too surprising if you think about it. My weapon is a Rule Breaker, and the higher up the hierarchy a Rule Breaker stands, the more powerful it is.
Arthur’s sword, Lostvayne, is exactly one rank higher than mine.”
This was a surprising reveal for Rilene and Uvton who knew the power of Jamie’s weapon, but the man wasn’t done yet.
“You see, not just me, but all the Race Kings who knew of Arthur’s sword’s original owner, were operating under a major misconception.
As you both know, Lostvayne originally belonged to Arthur’s ancestor, who entered this universe hundreds of thousands of years ago.”
When Jamie spoke up to this point, Rilene and Uvton nodded with dark expressions on their faces.
“The Devil King of Hell…”
The room grew colder, as if even speaking the name had drawn in the chilling essence of the Archdevil of Destruction himself.
Uvton and Rilene exchanged dark glances, memories flashing in their minds—of a time when they were younger, watching in horror as that man used the blade to slit the throats of half the previous generation of god Kings and devour their souls.
“Everyone assumed that Arthur was merely borrowing the sword from his ancestor—that Lostvayne was still bound to the Devil King, and Arthur just had it on loan.
But if that were true, the lines on the blade would be dark red—the colour of his ancestor’s aura. Not silver, like they are now. Silver is Arthur’s aura.”
Uvton and Rilene quickly understood what Jamie was insinuating when he said this; Lostvayne wasn’t with Arthur on loan like everyone thought.
“He’s the current ‘Owner’ of the sword, and all the power it contains, which as I stated earlier, is even more than my own Sword’s.”
To Jamie, it was quite a funny situation. Lostvayne’s Ego as he knew it, had a proud personality. But that prideful sword had submitted to the control of a mortal who hadn’t even reached Transcendence.
But his laughter quickly died as he turned to Beatrix, his expression growing serious.
“If that Sword is Standing Guard, then don’t even go near Arthur until he wakes of his own volition.”
His tone left no room for doubt.
Even without being actively wielded, Lostvayne was more than capable of ending Beatrix’s life in an instant—faster than she could even blink.
Ego weapons, after all, weren’t just tools; they were entities, with minds and wills of their own. They could act autonomously, defending their masters without hesitation.
Beatrix gulped and nodded silently. In the few months she had been on Aramis, she, Arthur and Artemisia had gone on quite a few explorations and expeditions and she had only seen Arthur use that sword once—when they were faced with a Level 800 opponent.
Usually, he fought with a different blade, one that was semi-transparent, as if not fully there.
But if Lostvayne was as powerful as Jamie said it was, then even if Arthur couldn’t bring out all its power due to Level constraints, it wasn’t something to be wielded casually.
‘Then again, this is Arthur we’re talking about. If anyone could wield such a weapon willy-nilly, it’s him.’
Such a thought crossed Beatrix’s mind for a moment, and in the next, Uvton asked a question that pulled her out of her thoughts.
“You mentioned another name earlier. ‘Evan’. Who’s that?”
[Hmm? Oh, that’s the guy who fell from the fut-!]
She paused midway, clapping her hands over her mouth with an expression that made it clear she had just messed up.
Artemisia who was beside her, silently shook her head and seeing this, Jamie laughed and put away his blade.
“Don’t worry. We already know about the guest from the future.”
[Well, it makes sense you knew. Alvey did say he reported to the Demon Kings, after all.]
Jamie’s casual acceptance of Evan’s identity didn’t surprise her, but it instead gave her an idea to deal with the situation at hand. Arthur was unavailable, and there was no telling when he’d wake.
She exchanged a glance with Artemisia, who nodded almost imperceptibly. They didn’t need words to communicate that they’d arrived at the same idea.
[Well, since Arthur is out of commission for the time being, we might as well bring Evan instead.]
Beatrix spoke with a shrug and Artemisia concurred, speaking plainly.
[Level-wise, He’s capable enough, and we do need an extra hand.]
Jamie raised an eyebrow, though he didn’t seem opposed to the idea.
“The future kid, huh? Let me know how he performs, I’m rather curious.”
Uvton, who had remained quiet until now, reheated his tea and sipped it thoughtfully before chiming in.
“That’s a sound decision. But you’ll need to be careful.”
[We’ll be fine, Uncle Uvie. Catch ya later!]
With those words, the screen of the tablet floating in front of the three Race Rulers went dark as Beatrix shut the call off.
