Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 940 - 940: Titan god

[Because I’m better, duh?]

Celestia shot back and Arthur rolled his eyes, unsummoning both blades. As he walked forward, the other three trailed behind, still stunned by the sight of his enigmatic Ego Weapons.

‘Their egos are so strong it feels like they were sentient humanoids put into weapons…’

Such was Artemisia’s analysis of the two swords, and Evan’s thoughts weren’t far off.

As they climbed a small cliff, Arthur reached the top first and sighed, shaking his head. Curious, the others rushed up to see what made him react that way and upon reaching the summit, they took a step back in shock.

“…w-what on Earth?”

Evan gasped, his eyes wide as he took in the sight before them. Artemisia and Beatrix mirrored his disbelief while Arthur simply laughed.

“My ancestors really loved to go ‘wild.'”

Before them stretched a vast forest, nearly a thousand kilometres wide, with a single massive figure sprawled across it, occupying about 75% of the area.

The figure, clad in broken armour, bore a giant wound in its chest from which a pool of golden blood flowed, forming a shimmering river beneath it.

This river emanated a staggering amount of divinity, matching the frequency of the energy channelled by Idrilla, the Holy Knights, and the Chief Priest.

Despite the body’s fresh appearance, its eyes were wide open, staring blankly at the sky, devoid of any light.

“A Titan god.”

Arthur said, his eyes glowing faintly as his Progenitor Authority identified the body.

Just as ‘Divine Humans’ were ‘Humans’ with the ‘Divine Factor,’ this ‘Titan god’ was a ‘god’ with the ‘Titan Factor,’ enabling it to have such a massive form.

Artemisia, Evan and Beatrix had been stunned into silence by the sight, and Arthur chuckled at their expressions.

He swirled cosmic energy around himself and dashed into the air, his voice echoing.

“Catch up when you’re done being dumbfounded.”

The sight overwhelmed the three, but they knew they couldn’t remain overwhelmed forever.

At Beatrix’s suggestion, they moved to after Arthur.

Evan used his Farsight to zoom his vision as far as he could, then activated Blink, but just as he activated the skill, Beatrix who was beside him paled rapidly.

She activated her Unique Skill in the same breath, focusing all her power on slowing Evan down before reaching out with her hand coated in spatial magic power.

The girl grabbed Evan, using her power to forcefully cancel his Blink skill’s activation.

“wha?! Why?!”

Evan reacted in shock and Beatrix, breathing heavily with a pale face, screamed back at him.

“ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY!?”

“…”

Evan blinked in shock, and seeing the genuine confusion in his eyes, Beatrix realised Evan’s action just now was born out of ignorance.

“You know what the fucking death sentence is, Evan? That’s what you almost just gave yourself. A goddamn death sentence!”

The girl pressed Evan’s body down to the ground, forcefully making him sit as she spoke.

“Listen here, boy. Let me educate you a little bit about space since you seem to be quite ignorant regarding it.”

And so, she began her Spatial Travel 101 Lecture.

“Number One: When space is fragile you don’t fucking teleport!

Otherwise, space will break on you and you could get displaced into another planet.

You either get yeeted to another planet, or you have half your body stuck in a wall”

Beatrix leaned in far too close for comfort, her eyes intense as she asked in a deep voice.

“Do you want to have half your body stuck in a wall?”

Obviously, Evan did not. He shook his head and Beatrix repeated her words.

“Then when Space is fragile, Don’t. Fucking. Teleport.”

Not giving him a chance to say a word, Beatrix continued.

“Number Two: When the ‘space’ you are in is filled with the energy of a far more powerful being than you…”

Pointing at the Titan god’s corpse, she continued.

“…Something like that gigantic corpse on the floor—A Deity Realm Existence—you don’t fucking teleport!

Three possible fates await you if you do.”

Holding out her fingers, she began listing them.

“First and most common, the spatial power blows up in your face. Considering that’s a Deity Realm’s power…you WILL die. Not MIGHT, WILL.”

The emphasis she placed on her words was heavy and the intensity in her eyes was on a whole ‘nother level than before.

“Secondly, you’re going to get stuck in space.”

Beatrix raised her hand, phasing it through space and everything from the midsection of her upper arm to the midsection of her forearm vanished.

“If you get stuck in space, whatever part of your body vanishes is done for. It’s there permanently, so you either amputate what’s left or get someone with a stronger Spatial Authority to get you out.

Last I checked, no one has a stronger Spatial Authority than that thing on this planet.”

Once again, Beatrix pointed at the Titan god’s corpse as she spoke.

“So, unless I get my mum to come over here, you’d be stuck in space for good.”

Beatrix held up her third finger, explaining the last and least dangerous of the three possible scenarios.

“Lastly, and the one with the lowest possibility of occurring…your teleportation simply fails.”

Considering the scary things she’d spoken of earlier, this sounded a lot tame. But then, Evan recalled the part where it was the one with the lowest possibility of happening.

“Now then, student, have you learned your lesson?”

Beatrix asked and Evan, slipping into theatrics, saluted and spoke.

“Yes Ma’am!”

“Good! Now, we fly!”

And just like that, she pulled Evan back up, before lifting herself into the air with her spatial power. Evan was about to ask a question, but having already predicted it, Beatrix spoke.

“I’m simply willing the space around me to push me forward, that much is enough. You can also fly with your wings, but don’t get too close to the body while you’re at top speed.”

Artemisia who was taking pictures of the sight from afar, turned to them at that moment and asked.

“You done?”

She seemed to already be aware of the cons of trying to teleport in a place like this that had its ‘space’ on lockdown, given she was floating with wind magic.

“Yeah, we are.”

Beatrix responded and the two girls took to the skies, leaving behind Evan who dusted off his trousers before unfurling his wings and following them.

It took them a few minutes to fly over due to the distance and when they arrived, they saw Arthur dropping down at the edge of a ‘cliff’.

Well, it was a Cliff due to the size difference, but in reality, this was the wound on the chest of the Titan god, where the blow that had killed him was dealt.

A jagged black crystal, emitting a heavy aura of Death energy, protruded from the wound. Its cracked surface scattered fragments around the hole in the Titan god’s chest.

Arthur stood silently in front of it, and his state was rather strange.

‘Just a little touch…just the tip of your finger…a tiny tap…just for a second.’

The boy felt like he could hear voices in his head telling him these things and they were getting louder by the second.

Telling him to touch the crystal in front of him…the Titan god’s Divine Spark.

‘The best decision would be to switch it off, but that’d trap us in here.’

Arthur’s Progenitor Authority was what allowed him to maintain the entrance to the Veil, but it also screamed at him to touch the Divine Spark.

But he knew that switching off his Authority would trap them inside the Veil, which was designed to keep everything contained, making it stronger from the inside than out.

If the entrance he created closed, he doubted he could tear another exit open.

“…dude? You good?”

Evan noticed Arhtur’s strange state and asked with concern in his voice, but Arthur just nodded normally.

“It’s attractive, but I’m fine.”

Arthur’s rational mind warned him that touching the crystal would mean death.

“So, this is what Esna felt, huh?”

Evan didn’t know who ‘Esna’ was, so he couldn’t understand what Arthur was muttering about. A few moments later, Arthur turned his attention to the smaller crystal fragments scattered on the floor.

“These ones might be okay…right?”

Artemisia and Beatrix, who had picked up some fragments, turned to him in surprise.

“You want to absorb this thing?”

“Yeah.”

Hearing this interaction between Arthur and Artemisia, Evan looked confused and Beatrix provided a short explanation.

“Arthur can literally eat Divine Sparks like candy.”

“He can WHAT?!”

Evan snapped his head in Arthur’s direction with a dumbfounded expression, but Arthur ignored him and focused on the crystals on the floor.

“I might be fine with those small fragments, but anyone a teeny bit big might kill me. This is the corpse of a Deity, presumably a god King…it’s somehow in good condition so not much of its energy is lost.

If I were to try and absorb it, it’d overload me and blow my body and soul to smithereens in an instant.”

Arthur casually spoke of this potentially grim fate like he was talking about breakfast, then held up his hand towards the fragment Beatrix held.

Suddenly, the entire corpse shook, and Arthur instinctively felt the urge to shut off his Progenitor Authority. He turned around with fear in his gaze, seeing as a geyser of golden blood spurted up in the air behind him.

Arthur slowly turned back to Artemisia while pointing at the large Divine Spark as he asked.

“D-did that thing just move?”

“Yes. Yes, it did.”

The silver-haired teen felt a cold sweat on his back at her response. Opting for caution, he walked over to Artemisia to take the crystal fragment directly from her.

‘Didn’t think my Divine Spark Extraction would pull on the main core and not the fragment I aimed for!’

Evan’s gaze lingered on the fragment in Arthur’s hand. Though he’d been told Arthur could ‘eat’ Divine Sparks, it didn’t feel real to him.

“Are you sure you wanna absorb that? It’s a god’s energy core, right? Can it even be absorbed?”

“Of course, It can be absorbed. Didn’t you say it yourself, it’s an energy core. Can’t energy cores be absorbed?”

“?”

Seeing Evan’s confusion, Arthur pointed at the Energem Reclaimer on Evan’s forearm.

“Those magic stones you embedded inside that artifact, they came from monsters, did they not?”

“Yeah.”

“And you can absorb their magic power into your body and use it to cast spells, or use the extracted energy from them as fuel for other things, can you not?”

After Evan nodded again, Arthur questioned once more.

“Then why do you think it can’t be done to a Divine Spark?

Magic Stone, Divine Spark, Dragon Heart…call it whatever fancy name you want.

In the end, as far as they come out from an Existence’s body, then they are ‘Energy Cores’. The magic stones you extracted from those monsters were their energy cores.”

Just as one can use a magic stone as fuel, godslayers can do the same with a Divine Spark.

The key difference was the refinement process.

When people absorb energy from magic stones, they must first refine it—filtering out impurities. If the elemental or law affinities don’t match, they must strip away the original owner’s energy attribution. This refinement process is intricate and often results in significant energy loss, making it inefficient for many who are not proficient at it.

(Putting it into perspective, it’s just like Cultivators absorbing energy from spirit stones and having to clean impurities.)

But godslayers were different.

They could directly absorb all the divinity in a Divine Spark without any need for refinement, and that divinity strengthened their flesh and bones, nourished their souls and expanded their energy cores.

With their three main Existential Aspects enjoying improvements, one arrives at the result of their Existence Realms increasing.

It was the same with other Slayer Races.
