Chapter 1809: Wicked Ascension
Chapter 1809: Wicked Ascension

“{Combination Magic}: {All-Devouring Black Hole}”
Both spheres merged into one, creating a gigantic disruption within space and time that fell into the maws of the aberrant Ant Saintess, whose body was simply unrecognizable from before.
Darkness suddenly engulfed everything. The Saintess’ eyes widened as she attempted to expel whatever she had swallowed…
TRUUUMMM!
Her entire body began twisting, breaking down, and “eating itself,” for lack of a better term. Her flesh continued trying to multiply, but this only hastened her death, as the black hole within her kept devouring her. Her entire body spiraled, swirling around this small hole in space and time.
“U U U U A A A A R R R G G G H H H H H !”
The monstrous creature screamed in agony and disbelief, her divine blessings unable to function anymore, as everything was completely swallowed.
Until her entire existence vanished.
No explosion followed, only a low “beep” that resonated through all space before the black hole disappeared.
“She’s not coming back, right?” Shade wondered, looking around. “Last time I used void magic on her, and she still revived…”
“I think… no, she’s not coming back anymore,” Nepheline sighed in relief. “That was intense! I had no idea our new combination spell could go so far, honey!”
“Me neither, honestly… I suppose we’ve severely underestimated ourselves,” Shade smiled. “We could try that against our next foe… and test if it’s possible to destroy them or weaken them in such a way.”
“We need some setup to use that again, though. Using it right away might exhaust our magic circles too,” Nepheline commented.
“Indeed…” Shade’s eyes narrowed. “But that thing, we’ve killed all of her children, and she still isn’t confronting us? Why?”
“She’s afraid? With her strength? That’s ridiculous…” Nepheline said. “Unless…”
“Unless she ran away?” Shade wondered. “No, her presence is there, but… I think I know what’s going on.”
“What?” Nepheline asked, a second before she saw her daughter returning with her friends. “Ah! Aquarina! And the children! Good! Looks like you managed to defeat your opponent then!”
“Yeah, they made it,” Shade nodded. “I never doubted their combined efforts, and it even seems like Quetzal is back too. He’s stronger than ever. Those spiritual armaments are incredible pieces of god relics.”
“So they’re relics, huh?” Nepheline wondered. “If someone were to see what he’s wearing… especially the church, he would definitely be persecuted.”
“Yeah… But he’s strong. I doubt they’ll get to him easily, and in this place, so isolated from everything else, he’ll be safe,” Shade said.
“Mom! Dad! We did it!” Aquarina said happily. “We defeated those ants! They sure were damn hardy, though! Especially that magician one. It revived and transformed into some sort of frost ant, and it was even stronger and tougher! That was really weird.”
“Their powers seem to come from divine blessings,” Quetzal said. “But it appears we’re quite late to the party. Your parents have already defeated the one you called ’Saintess,’ apparently.”
“Yeah, she was a tough nut to crack, though. She kept reviving, that bitch…” Nepheline crossed her arms angrily. “Anyway! We should get to the point of this whole crusade and take down the culprit behind everything before things get even worse, and we definitely don’t want that, right?”
“That’s right,” Shade nodded. “However, before that, I can tell you’re a bit too tired. You should at least eat something and perhaps drink a potion… here.”
Shade opened his shadows, bringing out sandwiches and potion bottles, giving them to everyone, even Quetzal, who wasn’t that tired. They wolfed down the food right away, drinking the sweet potions with the meals. Their Mana and Life were restored even more than before, and even the smallest wounds were healed.
“Oh wow, were those Elixirs?!” Aquarina asked with surprise. “They were better than anything I could ever make!”
“Yeah, they were Elixirs made by Faylen,” said Shade. “We have a couple dozen for emergencies. She always makes more and gifts them to us. Each one is worth more than ten million.”
“Ten million in the currency of the capital?!” Justicio asked. “What?!”
“Just that potion we drank?” Silvia wondered. “Wow…”
“Of course, Elixirs made by the Saintess are incredibly valuable. They are said to be not only capable of restoring any wound but also youth. Some nobles have lived far past their usual expiration date thanks to them,” Nepheline said, crossing her arms. “Alright then! Ready to tackle this last challenge, kids?”
“Yeah!” Aquarina nodded. “Bring it!”
“One thing,” Shade stopped them. “You’re not going to participate directly. You will support us, understood? I don’t want any objections, or you will not be allowed into the battle altogether. This is a fight to save this region, but we also want to keep you alive if possible. The thing we’re going to fight will be the strongest monster you will ever face, perhaps in your entire lives. So get ready.”
Aquarina and her friends nodded nervously, walking by Shade’s side into the giant blazing gates, opening them and revealing what awaited them beyond…
Space twisted, and time felt strangely slow.
Everyone’s perception of reality was warped as Shade and Nepheline panicked, grabbing the kids with their combined auras and resisting the incoming shockwave.
TRUUUM!
Before long, everyone landed on a rocky floor, glancing around in disbelief at an infernal landscape and a red sky.
Yes, there was a sky down there, and even a giant, blazing sun with a massive eye staring at them…
“Aaaahhhh… I have to thank you, heroes! The death of my children, as they struggled until the very end, and the divine blessings I granted them, which I got back upon their deaths… Everything was just right.”
Everyone’s eyes widened. This was nothing they could have ever imagined.
“I have ascended! Bask in my divine sunlight, for I am among the Gods of this world now! HAHAH… HAHAHAHAHAHA!”
This was no false god anymore, nor a divine spirit.
This was…
A True God.
