Chapter 1824: The Mysterious Forest

“It’s certainly not normal what happened… We went there with Aguarapida and a few other villagers early this morning, and although they rejoiced at the new nature, we were also pretty weirded out,” Shade said.
“That was a Fire God, but why is there nature in there?” Nepheline wondered. “Did something else happen? Did… another being intervene by any chance?”
“Uuhh…” Aquarina knew exactly what had happened. It was Sylphy’s fault that things turned out that way, but it was also thanks to her that Aquarina was able to defeat Armageddon after surviving everything.
If she had had enough power left, she might have been able to defeat Armageddon on her own, but that was sadly not the case. The ant goddess was too powerful, surviving even the explosion of her own divine spirit realm.
She was tremendously weakened, probably not stronger than a Tier 7 monster at that point, but with everyone drained of their energy and unconscious, Aquarina didn’t have any other option.
She didn’t really feel embarrassed or “pathetic” for asking for Sylphy’s help, though. She was given the tools to do so, and she had already planned to call for her descent as a last resort…
However, how could she even explain this to her parents without making it sound weird? Could they even believe her if she told them she became a goddess or something?
It would simply be too complicated to explain…
“I mean, I remember an explosion, and then there was a lot of light and fire…” Aquarina said. “And… I fell unconscious after that.”
“Hmmm, I guess you don’t remember…” Shade nodded, looking rather worried. “Well, I’m glad it ended, but there’s still this question about who could have helped us then…”
“Maybe it was a God that descended to our aid?” Nepheline asked.
“But why and who? They have never done this…” Shade said. “Maybe… no, maybe we’re just overthinking. Let’s leave it at that for now. We shouldn’t be questioning our daughter or anything. It’s not as if she did anything wrong.”
“Yeah, see? You worry too much sometimes, Shade!” Nepheline sighed. “Alright, let’s go. Your daughter needs to rest.”
“Um, where’s Esmeralda?” Aquarina wondered. “Can’t she come visit her big sis?”
“She was awake an hour ago, but she’s asleep right now. Sorry, dear,” Nepheline smiled. “I know you want to play with your baby sister, so I’ll try to wake you when she’s up.”
“Okay… thanks…” Aquarina yawned, as her tiredness took over and she fell asleep once more.
While sleeping, she was able to talk with her familiars, Undine, Leviathan, Pyuku, Leon, and Drakon. Although only Undine and Pyuku were capable of speech, the rest were playing around the main island within the sea of her Soulscape.
“I see, so that’s what truly happened. It was Sylphy all along…” Pyuku nodded. “I did feel her presence faintly… It was her divine power?”
“Oh, you were able to summon her because you became her Saintess?” Undine asked.
“Kind of. I didn’t summon her physically, but her divine presence or something… I am not too sure how it works,” Aquarina explained. “Without her, I don’t know what would have happened to us… Armageddon was too strong. Even with our current power, that damn bitch…”
“Calm down. Be glad it ended well,” Undine said. “I understand how you feel, and I am also angered at my own weakness… but being only resentful or hating yourself over it won’t help you, Aquarina.”
“I agree. We have to simply work together to get through this,” Pyuku nodded. “We simply have to… well, get even stronger.”
“Yeah, I gained a lot of new power through all of that, but even then, I am not sure it would have been enough if I went back… I really thought I didn’t even need the Trial after seeing how strong I was, but I was wrong. I desperately need to go to that Trial and get as much power as I can from it,” Aquarina said. “It’ll be our last challenge before finally reuniting with Sylphy, so we have to make sure to do our best.”
“Yeah,” Undine nodded. “As your familiars, I guess we are allowed entry without limits?”
“I think so. I might have to ask Svana about it later,” Aquarina nodded, as she started refining her Magic Circle and her Physique using her Divine Essence from her Divinity Spark. “I sure hope that the Inheritance is actually worth the effort and time, though… Hmm, what will it even be?”
“Perhaps a series of challenges or something of that caliber?” Undine wondered.
“Maybe they will be mathematical questions,” Pyuku said.
“Eh?” Aquarina didn’t like Pyuku’s idea, and it didn’t really fit with the Ancient Hero of Stone. “There’s no way that guy would make something like that, right? If we go by any evidence, he might be similar to the people of Everstone… Hmm, I think I kind of have an idea what the challenges are going to be like…”
Aquarina quickly imagined a few things. According to the culture of Everstone and Svana’s personality, and how the people trained and grew stronger, if that old man was really like the Everstonians…
“Like what?” Pyuku asked.
“Maybe the Trial will be about exercising or something, about doing physically demanding trials,” Aquarina explained. “I imagine they would be as harsh as that pit challenge where they threw me into a kilometer-deep hole and threw giant boulders at me, and I had to somehow dig my way up while pushing my body to its limits.”
“That sounds scary and not good at all…” Undine said. “Last time you did that, you almost died!”
“Yeah, but they’re the only way for us to grow stronger now. We have to always push ourselves to near death to even get anywhere…” Aquarina said, sighing. “That’s the path that we’re taking as Amazonians. We are inborn warriors, after all! And I am quite proud of my heritage, hehe.”
Aquarina had slowly gained a new resolve as she mentally prepared herself for the trial to come.
