Chapter 1117: Return of the Demoness
Chapter 1117: Return of the Demoness
While Xu Feng received a golden opportunity to study and learn under Thorin, back in the outside world, things were starting to get intense.
Haven Wind Town, Town Hall
"The Miracle Pavilion is really something else!" Lightning Blade hissed coldly.
"Already being accused of betraying humanity, and their situation in the Dragon Wind Empire was dire, but they still have the time to besiege our town."
"Precisely because their situation is dire, which is why they needed to take over our town!" Blue Star commented. Her eyes narrowed in a cold light. She understood that this upcoming battle was going to be their most difficult one ever.
Dark Night remained silent, but his expression clearly depicted his emotion.
"There’s no need to panic!" While the atmosphere was grim in the town hall, Veronica suddenly clasped her hands and announced. "I’ve just received words from Razor and Brutus. Our latest batch of members has passed the test and can now join the elite ranks."
Nearly every member in the Vanguard Guild who wishes to be promoted to an elite rank must now pass the test designed by the training hall.
Razor and Brutus were the proctors who oversaw the tests to prevent any cheating.
Hence, any newly promoted elites were destined to become a force to be reckoned with.
Although having an increased manpower alleviated some of their plight, it still wasn’t enough to resolve the urgent matter.
The enemies were still superior in numbers. Moreover, with their recent hit led by Eclipse Nova, the majority of them were fuming with rage.
A loss of massive revenue, followed by their dampened progress to advance further!
Each and every one of them was thoroughly provoked to the extreme by Eclipse Nova.
"Maybe we shouldn’t have hit other vital points..." An elite member standing at the back suddenly uttered unconsciously.
"Who just said that?" Instantly, Lightning Blade’s eyes flared up in anger. He turned around and attempted to search for the source.
Besides him, Blue Star was already darting her eyes at each of the elite members.
Dark Night was also scrutinizing the surroundings. Such words were equivalent to treason and demeaning their Guild Leader’s boss. And as a fan of Eclipse Nova, he refused to let anyone get away scot-free by questioning his idol’s actions.
"That’s enough of the farce!" Veronica raised her voice. "We haven’t even started to battle them, and you’re all trying to have an internal conflict? The boss has only just left! Are the elites of our Vanguard Guild such superficial and cowardly people?"
A look of shame quickly flashed on those who actually harbored regret for attacking multiple guilds that were hostile to them, to begin with.
The truth was that they all knew whether they hit them or not, they would still target them.
However, knowing it and accepting it were two different matters. They were previously confident and unafraid of the repercussions because of Eclipse Nova’s strong presence.
But now that Eclipse Nova had disappeared, their Guild Leader was nowhere to be found. It would be a miracle if they managed to remain strong in the face of such an enemy lineup.
"I’m sure that the Vanguard Guild elites aren’t that weak!" Amidst the silence, a voice suddenly broke out.
Almost immediately, all eyes shifted to the entrance and spotted a familiar figure: Carmen, aka Lunar Wraith.
"You’ve finally learned to come back?" Veronica smiled bitterly upon seeing her bestie return.
"My bad, I was trapped in some ridiculous ruin," Carmen scratched her head and flew toward her side.
"Hmm, no wonder your username disappeared in the level ranking board."
"Yeah, that has nothing to do with the ruin."
"Eh?" Veronica raised an eyebrow.
She glanced around before holding her arm and dragging her closer. "What’s your current level?"
Carmen flashed a cheeky smile. She refrained from revealing her level, keeping it a secret.
Veronica didn’t pry further either and moved on with the topic.
Nevertheless, with the addition of Carmen, the morale in the guild rose to a new high.
After all, Carmen was literally their most lethal player who could destroy many players in one move. The collective players who suffered from her hand came up with a nickname for her: the demoness.
A demoness because not only was she strikingly beautiful, but even her movesets were all so devastating. A combination of beauty and destruction made her the perfect embodiment of the name, demoness.
"Okay, I know that everyone has been worried about the town’s current state, but let this be known." Carmen clapped her hands and drew the attention of the crowd.
Her eyes gazed at every elite member with a profound expression. "As long as I’m here, the enemies could dream on if they want to set foot in our town!"
"All hail the Guild Commander!"
"We will follow your lead, Guild Leader!"
"We shall not back down without a fight!"
Instantly, the elite members raised their hands and shouted loudly. Since their Guild Commander had made such a declaration, why should they still be afraid?
Wasn’t it just a mere number advantage?
As long as they could assist each other and watch each other’s backs, they could still win. After all, the oppressive pillar stood tall and mighty in the town, which would affect all hostile opponents.
"Good, then get prepared!" Carmen nodded in approval and extended her hand. "In less than 5 minutes, we’re going to be battling our most cinematic war ever!"
5 minutes was the timer because once it turned noon, their town would become easier to attack. Additionally, the nearby monsters who had been vying for their town would also make their move.
This was the reason why the Miracle Pavilion and its allies were so confident in the siege.
With the monsters being in the lead to weaken their energy and defense, they could simply assist them with support spells, making it harder for them to clear out the monsters.
The method was similar to a battle wave, but also not quite. After all, the monsters would still attack them if they got too close to their aggression zone.
’Hopefully, the Guild Leader can make it back in time.’ Carmen prayed silently. Despite her announcement, she knew the limitations of her ability.
