Chapter 755: 685 Father and Son at War_2
Chapter 755: Chapter 685 Father and Son at War_2
On the right was a Giant Barbarian Tiger, with a tiger’s head and human body, standing at the same height of eight meters eight, holding a heavy hammer in each hand.
On the left was clearly Duke Virginia, and on the right was Savami. The two left room for each other and did not transform into their tallest combat forms.
“Savami, it’s not too late to stop now. As long as you promise to return to the family, I, the Duke, can be generous and not pursue your offenses.”
“Father, your vision is as low as the cold frog beneath the Burning Iron Ore Ridge, with only Virginia in your eyes.”
“Fine, take my blow!”
The old Duke considered his son’s strength and, when push came to shove, he didn’t want to create more distance. He had intended to give each other a way out, but upon hearing such arrogant words from across, his heart was pierced with pain.
Thus, the battle began.
He did not realize that Savami was speaking the truth.
With meticulous teachings from the all-knowing Divine Venerable, Savami’s vision was no longer limited to the Burning Iron Plane, least of all a mere duke’s family.
Under the guidance of the Divine Venerable, he also deeply recognized the flaws in the path of the Steel Knight, whereas his own cultivation had long departed from the original cage, treading a brand new path.
At this moment, both appeared as Holy Steel Knights, but in essence, they were worlds apart.
As the two Holy Steel Knights clashed, an invisible defensive membrane immediately rose on the grand training ground, covering the massive commotion within.
“Savami, oh Savami, I admit you have some fortune and luck.”
“But alas, your methods are too inferior. If left unchecked, the great situation here will fall apart, and by then, all the losses will be Virginia’s interests.”
“If I, Wild, take over, it will be different; not only will it not weaken, but I can cultivate another dukedom.”
“Just remain as the invisible man, as you always have.”
At the gate of the City Lord’s Residence, Wild was eavesdropping for noises inside, while contemplating that after taking over everything in Black Flame City, how he should plan and reform.
After a long while, a new commotion finally appeared inside.
A figure ran out hastily, panting and shouting to the people outside, “Young Master Wild, the City Lord and the Duke command you to enter.”
“Let’s go, follow me to see Father.”
Upon hearing these somewhat impolite words, Wild frowned slightly and glared at the messenger guard captain, Gray. However, he knew this was no time to argue over trivial matters; there was still something major awaiting them inside.
Everyone filed in one after another, ignoring Gray, and failed to notice the uncontrollable joy on his face.
“Heh, the City Lord finally came to his senses. I’ve been waiting for this day for quite a while, now my lord can finally hold his head high.”
“No, I must watch the excitement, this is a rare scene indeed.”
Gray, being the last, muttered to himself. Suddenly recalling something, he quickly closed the door and dashed inside like a gust of wind.
By the time he reached the main hall, not only was Wild present, but also a few significant figures accompanying the duke’s family, and Iron Ascend, who had been under house arrest for several days; the announcement seemed yet to begin.
Gray consciously found a corner to crouch in.
His arrival naturally didn’t escape the notice of others, but he, being Savami’s right-hand man, was not subject to expulsion by the old Duke.
“Iron Ascend, Wild, listen up.”
“Father, please go ahead.”
“After my investigations and repeated confirmations, I consider Savami Virginia to be the most outstanding among all my children. I have made up my mind to soon transfer the dukedom to Savami, and let him lead Virginia to a more glorious future.”
As the old Duke’s words progressed, Wild and Iron Ascend’s hearts grew heavier, eventually leaving them dumbfounded.
Stunned for a few seconds, Wild and Iron Ascend exchanged a glance, confirming that they were not hallucinating, and that their father truly intended to pass the dukedom to their foolish brother.
“Father, you—-”
“Iron Ascend, I hope you won’t go against my wishes, understand?”
“Under—understood.”
Iron Ascend wanted to retort, but after a warning glance from the Duke, he held back.
Seeing this, Wild inwardly cursed, thinking the second was too incompetent.
Various thoughts flashed rapidly through his mind, seeking a suitable counter-strategy, but the matter was too abrupt, catching him off guard. He found it difficult to devise a solution in the chaos, nor could he fathom what had just transpired.
“Wild, my own son, do you understand?” The old Duke didn’t overlook Wild.
“I—I—I don’t understand.” Under the oppressive gaze from those aged eyes, Wild remained stubborn, rebutting defiantly.
“You must understand.”
Upon hearing this, the old Duke took a few steps forward, glaring at him.
“No, Father.”
“Bang.”
Wild’s rebellious nature arose, disregarding everything, not even the intimidation crafted by the old Duke worked, and he continued to argue.
What met him, however, was the old Duke’s fist, landing firmly and forcefully on his abdomen.
Wild bent over in pain, but quickly raised his head, looking at the old Duke defiantly, clearly still unyielding.
The old Duke gazed at his once-favored son, a flicker of hesitation passing through his eyes, but recalling his eldest son’s formidable strength, that hesitation quickly vanished.
“Crack.”
“Crack.”
One strike, two strikes.
Wild’s legs were crippled by the old Duke, scaring Iron Ascend nearby into shivering internally, desperately lowering his presence to avoid getting involved.
“Father, please stop, I understand now.”
Wild was frightened into submission.
Only then did the old Duke hand him over to the others, turning to convey to the ever-cold observer Savami, “Wild was insolent, I have punished him for you, and hope you will not hold him accountable anymore.”
“Fine, for Father’s sake, let bygones be bygones.”
Savami, of course, could tell the old Duke referred to more than just the current situation, but also to past unpleasantness. Who would have thought that significant blunder was indeed related to the third brother; he turned out to be quite the sibling.
Though, it has been many years, and he had long reconciled with himself, so he was reluctant to dredge up old grievances.
As for the future, it depends on whether the third brother could act sensibly. Next time, the old Duke’s face might not serve as a shield.
“Father, when do you think the transfer ceremony should be held?”
“The sooner, the better. We’ll set off with your train in the afternoon, return to the family territory, and begin preparations.”
“Isn’t it rare to visit Black Flame City? Why not stay a few more days?”
“Next time, perhaps.”
The old Duke was well aware that his past neglect had led to a tenuous relationship. There was no reason to linger here and be an eyesore; he intended to handle the upcoming affair promptly, to ease the relationship.
This was important to the Virginia family.
Wild and Iron Ascend’s thoughts had become irrelevant, for just as years past, the old Duke once again made the decision most beneficial to the family.
That afternoon, except for those who stayed to teach Savami about the succession ceremony, the rest left with the old Duke.
This could indeed be described as coming and going in haste.
“Divine Venerable, may I ask you a personal question?”
“Of course, I’m always willing to enlighten you.”
“Divine Venerable, do you think I made the right decision this time?”
“Does correctness really matter? The world has always had a single rule: the strong have the power to force others to agree with what they say; whatever they say, whatever decisions they make, whether correct or wrong, are indisputable.”
To Ivan, Savami’s inner hesitation indicated insufficient experience, preventing him from seeing the world’s true nature.
Indeed, the Burning Iron Plane had its limitations; it was surely a most unique plane. Even at the Lord’s level, the Holy Steel Knights here didn’t have significantly longer lifespans than ordinary people from Danaila.
The deeper reasons behind this remained unclear to him, thus he was particularly attentive to this plane.
But there’s no rush. Given his naturally patient nature and now extraordinarily long life, there’s even less reason to hurry; slow exploration turns into enjoyment instead.
This was not only true for the Soul Burning Plane, but other special planes as well.
