Chapter 3780: See Clearly
Chapter 3780: See Clearly
The monster’s claws were falling behind Lu Yin, reaching for him, but also encompassing the entire Skyward Gate.
In front of Lu Yin, an old woman stared at him in shock as blood leaked from the corner of her mouth. She had been injured by the vicious impact of the shockwave from his palm strike. She raised her hand again and wrote with a pen. “Autumnspring: 10,000 Forests Cleave!”
The ink-black forest transformed into slashes that sliced at Lu Yin. Each slash contained terrifying power, clearly at the Dukkhan level.
From the other side, Cheng Gong also attacked, carving through the void. No one knew what the man was doing, but when a sourcebox array fell, it enveloped Lu Yin.
No matter who appeared before him, as long as they were not an Immortal, Lu Yin was confident that he was powerful enough to annihilate them all. However, he was at the Skyward Gate.
The instant the beast appeared, the Skyward Gate had closed. This was not because the old man had lowered the invisible barrier, but rather because the Skyward Gate had automatically closed.
In front of Lu Yin was the old woman and Cheng Gong, both attacking. The Skyward Gate was falling from up above, and the beast’s claws were reaching forward.
Lu Yin decisively retreated. At this moment, he could not afford even a moment of hesitation, or else everything would be over.
He needed to be confident in either instantly breaking past the Skyward Gate or blocking the monster’s claws. Since he was not confident that he could accomplish either quickly enough, his only choice was to retreat.
As he exited the Skyward Gate, Lu Yin glared at the old woman. If not for her, he would have entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Who is that old bat?
The old woman was staring back at Lu Yin. She had not been distracted even by the monster’s arrival. The Skyward Gate blocked the beast’s power, preventing the old woman from being able to accurately sense the creature’s might.
Her pale face and blood-stained mouth gave her a grotesque appearance, while her eyes blazed with a cold light.
Behind the old woman stood a young man, who was also staring at Lu Yin. His expression was calm, and a contemptuous smile toyed at the corners of his mouth.
Boom!
The Skyward Gate trembled.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse rarely ever encountered such a dire incident.
This was only the second time that a creature had successfully attacked the Skyward Gate; the first had been Master Qing Cao.
Understandably, both attackers had been Immortals.
The fact that the Skyward Gate trembled startled both the old woman and the young man. What kind of monster had arrived?
Lu Yin used the shockwave from the claws’ attack to send himself away, aiming at a springboard. Since going forward was a dead end, he had no choice but to use the springboard to leave.
He succeeded in reaching the springboard, still holding Luo Ning in a hand.
Luo Ning was horrified by the sight of the terrifying monster, but he still managed to roar at the people within the Skyward Gate, “Qian Shu! He’s betrayed me!”
Lu Yin had no time to listen to the man’s nonsense, and he simply put him back before using the springboard to hurry away.
The beast completely ignored Lu Yin. The Skyward Gate had blocked its claws, and for the moment, it was unable to pursue Lu Yin.
After being flung away by the springboard, Lu Yin glanced back. As the monster and the Skyward Gate fell into the background, he finally let out a breath of relief. He had been forced to run away once again. Would it ever end?
He had been fleeing for more than a decade now. He had believed that he would be able to enter the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, which would protect him from the beast, only to suffer an unexpected setback.
Once all traces of the monster were gone from sight, Lu Yin let out a sigh. He considered Luo Ning’s comment and the name Qian Shu. Could that be the young man’s name? Had the old woman attacked because of Lu Yin, or because of Luo Ning?
Still, regardless of who her target was, Lu Yin had nearly been killed, and that was a debt that he would certainly collect on.
The question for the moment was, where should he go next?
It was impossible to stay at Heavenspire. After being stopped at the Skyward Gate, it was possible that the monster would not immediately chase after Lu Yin, but it would inevitably look for him at some point in time, so long as none of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Greater Sancti intervened. That was not out of the question, but Lu Yin did not want to pin his hopes on a Greater Sancte.
Escaping into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and waiting for someone from that place to rescue him were two entirely different things.
On top of that, if a Greater Sancte did appear, while the monster would be doomed, so would Lu Yin.
If he returned to the Spirit Nidus Megaverse, what would Master Qing Cao do? Lu Yin felt increasingly uneasy. He was not willing to entrust his life to someone else.
Unfortunately, those were the only two paths available for him to take.
Wait, that’s not right. There’s a third path.
Lu Yin stared off into the distance. He had never expected to actually need to use the option that he had just remembered.
Several days later, Lu Yin saw Heavenspire before him. After having traveled through the region himself, it was no longer an unfamiliar place.
As he disappeared and reappeared, Lu Yin reentered the Spirit Nidus.
A glance revealed the Ascendant Hall and its familiar surroundings, as well as the Morrow Behemoth.
Suddenly, a pair of eyes loomed over him, and Lu Yin’s expression changed. It was Master Qing Cao.
“You shouldn’t have returned. There is no place for you in the Spirit Nidus.” Following those words, Qing Cao drifted out, radiating a bone-chilling bloodlust. This was the first time that the Immortal had demonstrated any genuine desire to kill Lu Yin.
Lu Yin shouted fiercely, “Are you not afraid of your karmic chain?”
“Killing you is worth adding to it.”
“Then why did you let me go in the Consciousness Megaverse?”
“That Immortal beast showed me that you are the brightest torch in this macrocosm. It’s safest to extinguish you. Your Tianyuan also has Jiang Feng, and I favor him over you.”
Lu Yin had no idea if Master Qing Cao was being honest or not, but he truly had no choice. He raced towards the Morrow Behemoth’s hand. That was another path to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
He truly did not want to go through that route, as no one knew where the Morrow Behemoth might fling him. Unfortunately, there was no other path.
When Lu Yin stepped onto the Morrow Behemoth’s hand, the beast’s eyes instantly snapped open, and it moved. The shifting of the creature’s massive body shook the Ascendant Hall. As the Morrow Behemoth raised its arm, the Ascendant Hall, the attendants within it, the thirty-six Ascensii, and even Lan all froze in stunned silence.
The beast’s tremendous roar echoed across the Spirit Nidus.
Lu Yin covered his ears. While the Morrow Behemoth might not be an Immortal creature, its physical strength was truly without equal, and its roar was no less powerful than that of the Immortal monster.
The muscles in the beast’s arm bulged, and the void cracked open as terrifying ripples of power spread out.
There was a tremendous bang as the Morrow Behemoth flung Lu Yin from its hand with incredible brute force.
A dark tear tore across the sky.
Far away, Master Qing Cao watched calmly, his bloodlust receding like a tide as he muttered, “Go. Go and see the true nature of these megaverses. I truly hope that you can change something.”
The Spirit Nidus shook, though no one knew what had caused it.
Lu Yin was gone from the Spirit Nidus.
...
It was hard for Lu Yin to describe what he felt, but shortly after he was thrown away by the Morrow Behemoth, he felt as though he had passed through the sky and the world around him had flipped upside down. There was a moment when his consciousness blurred, as though it had been struck by something that left him dazed for a long moment. When his mind was finally clear once more, he found himself surrounded by water. Gentle currents flowed around him when he opened his eyes, and he instinctively swam upwards. His hand grabbed something that was smooth and slippery, as well as comfortably soft and seemingly boneless.
“Ahhh-!”
The startled scream struck Lu Yin like a splash of cold water, jolting him fully awake.
His eyes snapped open, only to discover attacks approaching him from all directions. Out of pure instinct, he threw a palm strike, and terrifying power rippled outward, parting the water and splashing it everywhere. He leapt up and caught fragrant scents on the breeze. There were figures moving around him, and strands of damp hair flung droplets of water onto his face.
When his vision cleared, there was no one to be seen. All he found were spirit seeds floating in the air, each angrily shouting at him. “Who are you? Thief! Capture the thief!”
“You little rascal! How did you get in here?”
“Impudent!”
“Outrageous!”
Lu Yin blinked as he stared at the speaking spirit seeds. All of them had distinct female voices. He was completely and utterly bewildered. Just what was going on?
Suddenly, his hair stood on end. His head whipped around, and he stared at where someone had appeared without him even noticing their arrival. They were observing Lu Yin, and they took a step, instantly closing the distance.
Lu Yin could not see how a single step had carried the person so far.
He found that it was impossible for him to clearly see what had happened, or even sense what had happened.
All that Lu Yin could see at that moment was a face. It was a face that was so memorable that its image had been etched into Lu Yin’s bones. “G- Greater Sancte Green Lotus?”
Everything around Lu Yin became deathly silent. He could no longer hear anything, neither the women’s shouts nor their angry insults. He simply stared at the person who had just appeared before him. Damn it, isn’t this Greater Sancte Green Lotus? Did the Morrow Behemoth throw me right in front of him?
There could be no mistake. The man’s appearance was identical to the face in Lu Yin’s memories, and his earlier step had been far beyond anything Lu Yin could understand. Who but an Immortal could move in such an unfathomable way? This had to be Greater Sancte Green Lotus.
How could the Morrow Behemoth have thrown Lu Yin to this location? Did Ru Guo not prepare a target? Even if there wasn’t a prepared target, what just happened? Who are these women? Not to mention, the feel of that soft and boneless thing I just grabbed...
When his thoughts reached that point, Lu Yin’s face went deathly pale. He felt that certain doom was about to fall upon him.
He had just escaped an Immortal monster and Master Qing Cao, only to be confronted by something far more threatening.
How could this happen? His luck was unbelievably rotten.
“Master, you must stand up for your disciples! This little thief actually sneaked into our lotus pool to watch us bathe. He even- he even...”
The accusation startled Lu Yin to awareness, and he immediately shouted, “Stop making things up! Who peeked at you bathing?”
“You little thief! You’re shameless!”
“You still dare to deny it?”
“With Master here now, how could we ever allow you to live?”
“We sisters’ honor is enough for you to be torn apart a thousand times.”
“You have a thief’s brows and the eyes of a rat! Clearly, you’re a villain.”
“Our poor reputation...”
Lu Yin was left speechless. He said just one thing, and these women had responded with an additional ten accusations. How could he even deny anything? No, there was nothing for him to deny. He had truly seen nothing; he had only felt something.
Thinking this, he looked back at Greater Sancte Green Lotus.
The man’s expression was perfectly calm as he simply observed Lu Yin. The spirit seeds swarmed around him, chattering incessantly and giving Lu Yin a headache. He was afraid that even a single palm strike would kill him, so he quickly spoke up again. “Um, junior Lu Yin pays his respects to Greater Sancte Green Lotus.”
“Lu Yin? Yin? As in ‘invisible’? Invisible and spying on us bathing? And you still try to claim that you weren’t peeking on us? Your very name says that you’re guilty!” one woman shrieked, sounding agitated and hot-tempered.
“Seventh Sister is right, his very name is enough evidence.”
“How despicable.”
“Kill him. He definitely needs to die...”
“Killing him is too easy. We should first gouge out his eyes, and then...”
Lu Yin was again rendered speechless. He looked back at Greater Sancte Green Lotus again. It did not matter what the women said, only what attitude the Greater Sancte showed.
If anyone other than Greater Sancte Green Lotus were in front of him, Lu Yin would have already fled. None of the women present were capable of stopping him.
“All right, that’s enough. Say nothing more. I have my own judgment,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus said, his voice calm and even. There was no hint of either anger or happiness. It was surprisingly gentle.
He continued to study Lu Yin. “You are from one of the lower megaverses.”
The seven spirit seeds trembled, seeming to turn and stare at Lu Yin. “A lower megaverse? He’s from the Spirit Nidus?”
“No wonder his aura felt off. He’s not from our Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”
“What audacity! To think that someone from the Spirit Nidus would sneak in here to spy on the Sea of Karma. Is he rebelling against the Greater Sancti?”
“I’ve heard that the High Seraph isn’t a good man. This guy must be working with him.”
“As expected, he’s a little thief...”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus frowned. “Enough. Move back now. One more word from any of you, and I will send you back and never allow you to return.”
As soon as the man spoke, all seven of the spirit seeds immediately retreated as far as possible. That threat was simply too terrifying.
