Chapter 3844: Fair Duel
Chapter 3844: Fair Duel
Making the Azuresword Sovereign the Odyssey Commander and having him expel Yue Ya from the Fifth Night Pillar was still Lu Yin’s best solution. As for whether or not the Fifth Night Pillar could accompany the Sixth Night Pillar in the upcoming war, Lu Yin would deal with that on his own.
If he could not manage it, he would just join the Sixth Night Pillar and become the Odyssey Commander himself. Who could stop him?
Liu Li had already invited Lu Yin to join the Sixth Night Pillar. This was not only because of the assistance he had given them, but also because the Night Pillar was too weak for an expedition against a foreign megaverse. Even with the flood of experts joining the Sixth Night Pillar from all parts of the megaverse, Liu Li was afraid that they would not be able to hold the line. However, Lu Yin was different.
In the end, Liu Li was not truly qualified to lead the Sixth Night Pillar. She had simply gotten lucky by surviving a calamity and been the last surviving peak Dukkhan on the Night Pillar, even though her cultivation had been obtained through a Seed Transfusion.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus asked, “Why do you want to help Xian Tong?”
Lu Yin hid nothing from the Immortal and proceeded to share his intentions.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus just gave a faint smile. “If you wish to deal with Yue Ya, why go to so much trouble?”
Then, as Lu Yin looked at the Immortal in confusion, Green Lotus casually waved a hand, and someone suddenly appeared before them: Yue Ya.
Lu Yin was stunned.
Yue Ya appeared to be far more bewildered. He glanced around in a daze, quickly seeing the similarly confused Lu Yin. What’s going on? Aren’t I supposed to be in the Fifth Night Pillar? Where am I?
Lu Yin was confused. What does this mean?
“Greater Sancte Green Lotus?” Yue Ya was startled to see the Immortal, and he hurriedly bowed low. “This junior pays his respect to Greater Sancte Green Lotus!”
Yue Ya still maintained the appearance of the third-generation sect master of the Five-Palms Sect. Before Greater Sancte Green Lotus, Yue Ya made sure to demonstrate the greatest level of respect possible.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus calmly observed Yue Ya. “You have grievances with this man.”
Yue Ya turned to stare at Lu Yin, his eyes flickering. He did not know what sort of connection there might be between Lu Yin and the Greater Sancte, which made Yue Ya extremely uneasy. He knew that Lu Yin had comprehended karma, and Greater Sancte Green Lotus was the embodiment of the power of karma.
Despite his nervousness, every time that Yue Ya’s eyes fell upon Lu Yin, it became impossible for him to conceal the greed and desire that blazed in his eyes. This man was a shortcut to gaining the power of an Immortal.
"To answer Greater Sancte Green Lotus, this junior wishes to devour this man's consciousness to complete the power of Word Manifestation and approach the Immortal realm."
Lu Yin was surprised. That had been unexpectedly honest.
He still failed to grasp just what Green Lotus meant to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse: he was the embodiment of karma and the pillar of their faith; he was the Dao itself
Yue Ya might be willing to lie to Blood Tower or Awe Gate, but he would never lie to Greater Sancte Green Lotus. The power of karma was too mysterious and profound. In particular, the man had personally experienced just how formidable Lu Yin’s power of karma could be during their recent battle in the Consciousness Megaverse. Greater Sancte Green Lotus had cultivated karma to the Immortal level. The man was unimaginably terrifying.
Yue Ya would never dare to speak even a suggestion of a lie.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus turned to Lu Yin. “Yue Ya is right here. You may act.”
Yue Ya trembled and looked at Greater Sancte Green Lotus in confusion. “Senior, what is this?”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus simply faded away. “Since you two have grievances towards each other, I will offer you this chance to settle things. Today, only one of you may leave this place alive.”
Yue Ya was startled. He knew that he was no longer Lu Yin’s match. The young man had already surpassed the former Lesser Sancte when they had been in the Consciousness Megaverse, let alone at present. Yue Ya had heard how Lu Yin had single-handedly destroyed Autumnspring Slip. “Senior, I am from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and a member of the Fifth Night Pillar! I am willing to die fighting for our megaverse! Why would you treat me like this, Senior...”
No matter how loudly Yue Ya cried, Greater Sancte Green Lotus was already gone.
There was also no way to escape, as they were in the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.
Lu Yin stared at where Greater Sancte Green Lotus had stood a moment before. That’s it? Why? Just because Yue Ya is my enemy and I want to deal with him, Greater Sancte Green Lotus brought the man straight to me? This makes things astonishingly simple.
“Senior, I am from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse! This man is from the Tianyuan! He is rebellious and hostile towards us! I can devour his consciousness, take over his body, and use his karma to aid you, Senior! I beg you to give this junior a chance!”
“Yue Ya,” Lu Yin suddenly said.
Yue Ya turned to look at Lu Yin, his fists clenched and animosity blazing in his eyes. “Just what kind of relationship do you have with Greater Sancte Green Lotus? Why is he helping you so much?”
Lu Yin slowly smiled'. “Greater Sancte Green Lotus isn’t helping me, but simply giving us a fair chance to settle things. Don’t you want to devour my consciousness and take over my body? You’re free to try to do so right now.”
Yue Ya’s eyes flickered as he continuously retreated. He wanted to escape. It was impossible for him to stand against Lu Yin. The man had not forgotten what Lu Yin had confronted in the Consciousness Megaverse: an Immortal beast. The fact that Lu Yin had reached the Nine Odysseys Megaverse alive was the worst-case scenario that Yue Ya could imagine. Cheng Gong had been sent to intercept Lu Yin at the Skyward Gate, but he had never been meant to stop the man, only to gather intelligence and see if Lu Yin arrived.
Yue Ya had never expected Lu Yin to actually reach the Skyward Gate.
When he had received Cheng Gong’s report that people from Autumnspring Slip had driven Lu Yin out of the Skyward Gate, Yue Ya had felt both relieved and regretful.
The relief had appeared because Lu Yin had clearly managed to escape from an Immortal, which meant his strength had become unimaginably terrifying.
Regret had blossomed because if Lu Yin never entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Yue Ya would never have a chance to devour the man’s consciousness.
Even so, nothing could have ever prepared Yue Ya for his current circumstances.
The only way for Yue Ya to devour Lu Yin was through long-term scheming that took advantage of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. But at this moment? A sudden duel? Greater Sancte Green Lotus was clearly sending Yue Ya to his death.
“If you won’t do something, then I will.” Lu Yin was unconcerned with Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s plans. Yue Ya was right in front of him, and so the man would die. As Lu Yin spoke, his consciousness surged forward. You want my consciousness? Here you go!
Yue Ya had no idea how to escape. He could see nothing surrounding him and Lu Yin, and yet they both seemed to be trapped within an invisible cage that was constantly pressing in and restricting their movement.
As Lu Yin’s consciousness crashed down upon Yue Ya, all he could do was try to resist with his manifested thought.
A dark-gold energy shot out and formed his Voidheart Mirror.
Boom!
The void twisted and warped between the two men. At that moment, the universe changed color.
Countless people around the Sixth Night Pillar looked up at the sky. What was happening?
Liu Li, the Azuresword Sovereign, and many others stared upwards. They could see nothing, so where was this pressure coming from? There was a battle somewhere.
The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm blocked everyone's vision and isolated the shockwaves from the battle. While people could sense that something was happening, no one would be affected in any way.
Yue Ya was blasted back by Lu Yin's consciousness. It was stronger than ever. Did he devour every last conscient in the entire Consciousness Megaverse?
He lashed out with a palm strike, using the Five-Palm Art. As Yue Ya did that, the Soul legacy skill Blood Tower appeared behind him, the structure releasing light as power flowed through it.
He was using his Soul legacy skill. It was an ability that no Lesser Sancte would normally use, as doing so was casting aside their dignity. Even so, Yue Ya was using it. Of course, he was also no longer a Lesser Sancti.
But so what if he did use a Soul legacy skill?
As Lu Yin stepped forward, his hand rose up, and then slammed down, mirroring the Five-Palm Art.
Bang!
Yue Ya’s physical body shattered, yet there was no blood. Ultimately, he was just a being of manifested thought, and his true form was a dark-gold cloud.
“Lu Yin, there’s no need for us to fight to the death!” Yue Ya screamed, his manifested thought surging. Blinding light lit up the sky and shone down upon the ground.
From the top of the Night Pillar, the Azuresword Sovereign was staring at the sky, his pupils constricting. Is that... the Voidheart Mirror?
Lu Yin flicked his fingers up, and chains fell from the void. The Heaven and Earth Lock sealed Yue Ya’s senses.
Yue Ya hid inside the Blood Tower, his manifested thought shrinking within it. “Lu Yin, do we really need to fight to the death? I can help you. I can help you while you are here in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse! I was once a Lesser Sancte.”
Lu Yin clenched a fist. Infinity flowed through his body as it withered and was enveloped with Wielder-realm battle force. Heaven’s Seal’s sequence particles erupted, and red lanterns floated in the sky nearby. Even as Natural Art was used, Lu Yin underwent the Nine Heavens Transformation.
He then threw just a single punch.
This was a punch that the High Seraph had once faced, and it had left him gravely wounded.
Yue Ya had witnessed that moment from a distance, but he had not personally faced the power that Lu Yin was capable of unleashing.
This was his first time experiencing Lu Yin’s full strength.
The Blood Tower cracked and fractured with a deafening boom that nearly tore the dark-gold cloud apart.
Yue Ya finally understood what the High Seraph had meant when he had said that Lu Yin had become unstoppable.
Lu Yin’s cold expression reflected off of the fractured Blood Tower as he stared at the dark-gold cloud within the wreckage. It was nothing but manifested thought, and Lu Yin was determined to take it.
“Against the Mortal World,” Yue Ya growled.
His comprehension technique could reverse all abilities that his opponent used. During the battle outside of the Willbound Spire, Yue Ya had used his comprehension technique to seriously injure Lu Yin and several others, intending to use it as his trump card to capture Lu Yin. Unfortunately, that attempt had failed.
Lu Yin never took his eyes off of Yue Ya, and the moment that Against the Mortal World was released, Lu Yin simultaneously retaliated with his own Setting Sun and burned Yue Ya’s knowledge of martial arts.
The two comprehension techniques clashed. Previously, Lu Yin had been no match for Yue Ya, but his strength had long since eclipsed Yue Ya’s. With the enlightenment that Lu Yin had obtained through comprehending karma, telling numerous fortunes, and the various glimpses that he had taken of the cosmos’s essence, the Setting Sun burned through Against the Mortal World. Even if Yue Ya’s comprehension technique was not fully destroyed, its reversing power weakened significantly before being suppressed.
Yue Ya was horrified, and he clung to the remnants of his Blood Tower.
Was Yue Ya weak? Absolutely not. His manifested thought was powerful enough for him to control Dukkhans. His Soul legacy skill was able to withstand one of Lu Yin’s most powerful punches without being fully destroyed. His comprehension technique could reverse the tide of any battle. He was far from weak.
Unfortunately, he was facing Lu Yin, who had once escaped from even an Immortal beast, and had later single-handedly destroyed the Autumnspring Slip. He was a truly peerless powerhouse.
Boom!
Another thunderous impact rang out, but this time, the Blood Tower shattered entirely, and Lu Yin reached for the dark-gold cloud.
A vast torrent of sequence particles suddenly burst from the dark‑golden cloud. Yue Ya had undergone Path Initiation, and he unleashed his sequence particles as an attack, forging them into his second foundational power, surpassed only by his Soul Legacy.
They were called “Climb high to see far.”
This was the law of the universe that Yue Ya had comprehended, as well as his personal Dao.
The higher a person stood, the farther they could see. The moment that Yue Ya’s sequence particles touched Lu Yin, a specific desire appeared within him and was magnified endlessly. It was a desire to destroy everything, to conquer all. The desire clouded his eyes.
Right after that, Lu Yin’s eyes regained focus. He used the Wayfinder Sutra: when the body moves, the mind does not; when the mind moves, the spirit does not.
A sudden breeze scattered the sequence particles to nothing. Yue Ya was stricken with despair. His final reserve of power had been crushed. He had never hoped to defeat Lu Yin, only to unhinge the younger man with his own insight: climb high to see far.
For a man’s greatest enemy would always be himself. Sloth, fatigue, pride, pain were all born from within.
While Yue Ya had not comprehended offensive sequence particles, they were some of the most dangerous ones that Lu Yin had ever faced.
However, Yue Ya had not expected Lu Yin to suppress the sequence particles with the Wayfinder Sutra and remain as immovable as a mountain. Yue Ya’s sequence particles had been instantly defeated.
Lu Yin grabbed the dark-gold cloud with one hand. He had multiple means of dealing with sequence particles, but none would rattle Yue Ya worse than if Lu Yin used a power that belonged to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
Yue Ya had defeated Ru Guo, forcing the man to abandon his position as an acting Lesser Sancte. It was only fitting to have him fall to the Wayfinder Sutra.
Lu Yin had fought Yue Ya on more than one occasion, and this battle ended in Yue Ya’s crushing defeat.
As Lu Yin’s hand pressed down upon the dark-gold cloud, a sharp attack floated above his palm: the Tri-Azure Sword Intent. Despite the fact that the attack had not been released, Yue Ya found it more terrifying than even Lu Yin himself.
