Chapter 3889: Lu Yin And The Great Master

Chapter 3889: Lu Yin And The Great Master

Lu Yin looked toward Skyveil City. He was surprised to learn that the Jue family had kept such an impressive trump card hidden. Still, it posed no threat to him.

No matter how many layered spirit treasure formations might be hidden within the Immovable Skyveil Formation, he did not believe that the Jue family could instantly break through his defenses. Besides, with the powers of Word Manifestation and karma at his command, they would never even have a chance to activate the Immovable Skyveil Formation.

Lu Yin’s silence caused Li Guo to believe that the younger man was not confident that he could survive such an attack.

“And what about the Yu family?”

Li Guo’s gaze shifted to another part of Skyveil City. “The Yu family publicly claims that their strongest technique is the Script Array. Everyone has been distracted by that name, forgetting that the essence of the Skyveil Megaverse was using spirit treasures. Their true path to power was creating the strongest spirit treasure formation. In addition to that, regardless of whether it’s carving formations or even the Immovable Skyveil Formation, neither represent the true path.

“Carving formations is just a means of attack, while the Immovable Skyveil Formation is, no matter what, just another spirit treasure formation. On this path, only spirit treasure formations themselves can be considered infinite.

“No one can create the strongest spirit treasure formation, because there is no strongest, only stronger. Long ago, there was an expert in the Skyveil Megaverse who created a spirit treasure formation that defeated ten peak Dukkhans at once. That legend is the source of the rumors that the Yu family can defeat ten such experts.

“To be honest, Mr. Lu, I’m the one who spread those rumors.”

Lu Yin looked at Li Guo. “Senior, were you trying to infuriate the Yu family?”

Li Guo sneered. “You could say that, but it was also a test. I wanted to see just how far the Yu family has gone down the true path.”

The true path? Lu Yin gazed at the Yu family as he fell deep into thought. Indeed, this is the true path.

In both the Tianyuan and the Spirit Nidus, those who pursued lockbreaking chased after lockbreaking and creating sourcebox arrays. For both carving arrays and the Immovable Skyveil Formation, they still used sourcebox arrays as their foundation.

Of Skyveil City’s three great clans, only the Yu family walked that same path. Just how powerful of a sourcebox array had they developed?

“The Yu family has used their Script Array to divert everyone’s attention as they secretly developed ever-stronger spirit treasure formations. Because no one has even managed to break their Script Array, their stronger arrays have never been exposed, though I am certain that they have them.” He looked at Lu Yin. “If there really is a spirit treasure formation that can instantly kill ten peak Dukkhans, Mr. Lu, do you feel that you could withstand it?”

Lu Yin arched a brow. “Are you saying that the Yu family has reached the same level of mastery as the Skyveil Megaverse?”

“Of course not. Even if you gave the Yu family another billion years, they’d never reach that level. Still, this is the West Domain, which contains the Skyveil Megaverse’s legacies. The Yu family has climbed up by using the foundation of the Skyveil Megaverse. Who knows how much of that universe’s legacy they’ve absorbed after so many years?” Li Guo replied, his tone full of disdain for the Yu family.

“During the great battle against the Skyveil Megaverse, the reason why the Immovable Skyveil Formation was so powerful was because it also had the spirit treasure formation that could kill ten peak Dukkhans. That formation served as the core, allowing it to unleash enough power to injure Greater Sancte Blood Tower.

“That is the true face of Skyveil City. To some extent, the three great clans can already represent the Skyveil Megaverse. If the Cheng family had succeeded in invoking the three-clan covenant and the Jue and Yu families had both released their true foundations, then the final outcome would have been uncertain.”

His hands clasped behind his back, Lu Yin thought, Wrong. Even then, it would have been the three great clans that perished.

Li Guo simply failed to understand just how terrifying Lu Yin’s combat power really was.

If the three great clans possessed weapons that could hand them victory, then Lu Yin could easily take those weapons away before they could even be used.

Seeing Lu Yin staring off at Skyveil City in thought, Li Guo leaned closer. “Well? Feel like you’ve been played, don’t you? Do you want to work together to destroy them? It’d be simple. All you need to do is forcibly take their two secret scrolls, and then I can make my move. They won’t even have time to use their hidden cards.”

Lu Yin calmly turned to look at Li Guo. “Senior, you said that you can help me contact the Great Master.”

Li Guo stared at Lu Yin. “I just asked if you wanted to get revenge on those two clans. You could say that they tricked you.”

“That’s not really deceiving me. Why should they tell me these things?” Lu Yin retorted.

Li Guo was momentarily speechless. He carefully studied Lu Yin’s features, yet he found no trace of anger or resentment.

Lu Yin smiled. “I am neither their enemy nor their friend.”

Li Guo looked away and sighed. “Fine. I thought that someone as domineering as you wouldn’t be able to endure being deceived.”

Lu Yin was not offended. Why should the Jue and Yu families tell him anything? Just because he was strong?

In fact, he had already forced the Yu family to bring out Codex 1 and had seen the secret behind the Jue family’s mastery of comprehension techniques.

He absolutely did not believe that everything needed to revolve around him and tell him everything. That was not being domineering, but simply foolish.

Besides, he was still certain that Li Guo was testing him.

Li Guo took out a communication device and started making a call. “I’ll tell you this first: I can help you make a call, but I can’t guarantee that it’ll go through. Who do you think the Great Master is? Even we have trouble contacting him. It’s rare to speak through a communication device, and it’s almost always the Great Master contacting us. Few are able to simply speak to the Great Master without directly going to Deathmound.”

Lu Yin did not rush the old man and calmly waited.

Li Guo quietly waited for the call to connect, but there was no response. He spread his hands, gesturing his helplessness to Lu Yin.

Lu Yin glanced at the communication device. “Try again.”

Li Guo rolled his eyes. “It’s no use.”

“Try again.”

“Fine.” Li Guo tried again, but his efforts remained useless. Everyone knew that trying to call the Great Master with a communication device was like ascending into heaven. The old man was only making the call in order to get information regarding the Void Wall.

Still, there was no answer.

“Try again.”

“I told you, it’s no use.”

“Maybe it’ll work this time.”

“Heh, young man, running to finish your errands is what will help. If you go straight to Deathmound and ask Long Yin or Chao Yi to introduce you, it’ll be faster. Otherwise, you won’t be able to speak with the Great Master within the next 10,000 years. Do you think that the Great Master will hold a communication device up like a mirror just so that you can have a call?”

Just as Li Guo finished speaking, an image appeared. Despite showing nothing but pure black, a voice still spoke. “What is it?”

It sounded like the voice came from the bottom of a well; it was both genderless and ageless.

Lu Yin’s eyes snapped open, and he stared at the display.

Li Guo was stunned. “Great Master, why did you answer?”

“Should I not?”

“Uh, no... It’s just strange. In the past, you’ve never answered whenever we tried to call you.”

“Oh, I just happened to be using my communication device as a mirror, so you managed to get me.”

Li Guo was stunned.

Lu Yin was also stunned, and he gave Li Guo an odd look.

“Why did you call me?” the Great Master asked.

Li Guo cleared his throat and he avoided even glancing at Lu Yin. It felt like the young man was mocking him. “Uh, I’m with someone who wants to speak with you.”

“Who?”

“Lu Yin.”

The Great Master did not reply.

Li Guo straightened up in his chair. “I know that you’re busy, so I’ll help you dismiss him. It’s against the rules for me to be the one to call you first, and I will accept any punishment you decide.”

He then hurriedly waved for Lu Yin to leave.

“No need. Give him your communication device and step back.”

Li Guo was stunned again, thinking that he must have misheard.

Lu Yin casually stepped forward and grabbed the communication device before waving for Li Guo to leave.

At this moment, Li Guo did not even know how he left. Things had developed in an entirely unexpected direction.

“This junior is Lu Yin. Greetings, Great Master,” Lu Yin stated solemnly while facing the display.

The Great Master was one of the most mysterious figures in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. They ruled over Deathmound and were able to meet with the three Greater Sancti anytime they wished, and yet no one had ever seen their face.

Not even the people of Deathmound had seen the Great Master’s true appearance before.

Many speculated about the Great Master’s identity, but no one could confirm anything. All that was known was that they were powerful enough to have once been regarded as second in strength only to the three Greater Sancti. Even after Lu Yin’s sudden appearance in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, his Origin realm breakthrough where he had sent characters raining down from the sky, and his killing of Cheng Gong from another domain, there were still some individuals who firmly believed that Lu Yin was not the strongest beneath the Immortal realm. That title belonged solely to the Great Master.

The East Domain was dominated by Dream Dominion, the South Domain had the Scion Spire, the West Domain had Skyveil City, and the North Domain had the Rift of Suffering. Deathmound sat at the center of the megaverse, not only because of its three mountains and seven peaks, which were overseen by ten supreme experts, but also because of the Great Master.

Without the Great Master, how could Deathmound protect so many who nursed such deep grudges and hatreds?

The people of Deathmound came from all parts of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. If all of their enemies united to stand against them, essentially half of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would move against Deathmound. In particular, the lords of the three mountains and seven peaks were some of the most powerful individuals and factions throughout the Nine Odysseys and the Temporal Heavens. Even so, Deathmound was able to protect all of its people, and they were even able to let them gain the upper hand and seek vengeance.

The Ruler Garden had been forced to submit to Yue Ya because of Chao Yi.

The Autumnspring Slip’s Worldscripts had always been disrupted by Long Yin.

Li Guo stared at Skyveil City’s three great clans.

All this was made possible because of the Great Master’s existence. That person alone allowed Deathmound to stand above all factions in the megaverse. Despite not being an Immortal Greater Sancti, many looked at the Great Master as someone on that same level.

“I’ve heard of you for quite some time, Mr. Lu,” the Great Master said in a low voice. Not a single emotion could be detected from their words.

Lu Yin stared at the pitch-black display. “Senior, you can just call me Lu Yin.”

“The ruler of the Tianyuan Megaverse deserves being spoken to with respect. If you become an Immortal, I won’t dare to speak to you even this casually,” the Great Master replied.

Lu Yin had no idea if this was a joke or if the Great Master was being serious. No matter how hard Lu Yin tried to discern the Great Master’s emotions, he could read nothing from the neutral tone.

“Did you reach out to me because you want to obtain the title of Lesser Sancte, or because of the Netherfiends?” the Great Master asked.

Lu Yin said, “Before entering this megaverse, I believed that Deathmound could help me become a Lesser Sancte, but I now realize that the title requires much more than that.”

“Given your connection to Greater Sancte Green Lotus, you can simply ask for the title. Given your level of combat power, no one would dare to speak against it.”

“Becoming a Lesser Sancte no longer matters,” Lu Yin said. Greater Sancte Green Lotus, who also represented Blood Tower and Awe Gate, had clearly expressed admiration for Lu Yin. His recent experiences had caused every faction in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to grow wary of him, and with the Night Pillars current expedition in the Aevum Inch, the Tianyuan would face no threat from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse for some time.

Lu Yin had initially wanted to become a Lesser Sancte in order to ensure the safety of the Tianyuan, but he had since learned that his intentions had been far too naive.

The Greater Sancti and Lesser Sancti stood on entirely different levels.

If an Immortal Greater Sancte chose to destroy the Tianyuan Megaverse, not even all five of the Lesser Sancti would be able to stop it from happening.

Yue Ya was a prime example; even a Lesser Sancte could be discarded by the Immortals at any moment.

In a way, becoming a Lesser Sancte would be detrimental, as Lu Yin would no longer be able to return home.

The people of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse were not allowed to enter the Tianyuan Megaverse. This had become well known to Lu Yin in the Consciousness Megaverse. Yue Ya had once tried to use the destruction of the Tianyuan Megaverse to threaten Lu Yin, but he had only been able to send Old Chief and the other conscients. Yue Ya himself had not been able to go.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus was already preventing Lu Yin from returning to the Tianyuan Megaverse. If he became a Lesser Sancte, returning would become entirely impossible.
