Chapter 447 Right Choice

Kyle fell from the sky since he didn’t have a lot of Ether anymore, but that didn’t really matter.

He just needed to wait a couple of seconds for his body to regrow.

While Kyle was falling, Sebastian looked at him with widely opened eyes.

“Dude, you just ate someone!” he transmitted in shock.

“Not the first time,” Kyle transmitted back as he felt a burst of Ether coming from his stomach.

His body was rapidly recovering, and just two seconds later, his green speck reactivated, allowing him to fly again.

“What do you mean, not the first time?!” Sebastian asked in shock. “Also, how the fuck did you even kill her?! She could’ve easily killed you while you were stuck on her head!”

“Predator’s Being, dude!” Kyle transmitted back. “Ever been in a beast’s mouth? My mouth is like that. I absorb a shitton of Ether with my mouth.”

Sebastian realized that Kyle could eat stuff, like beasts, which meant that his digestive system should also have the properties of a beast’s digestive system.

“But you still ate someone! That’s cannibalism!” Sebastian shouted.

Kyle flew over, his body mostly recovered.

“So? Nobody cares,” he transmitted.

“Nobody cares?” Sebastian asked. “It’s a big deal!”

“Nobody cares, dude!” Kyle shouted. “Anyway, we gotta run. The other Transcendents are probably on their way!”

“Oh, right!” Sebastian shouted as lightning shot out of his body. “You got your girlfriend with you?”

“Who? Oh, Selene!” Kyle answered. “Nah, no idea where she went. She probably already went ahead.”

The two of them shot towards the World Peak as fast as they could.

“That’s not nice,” Sebastian transmitted. “You sure she’s a keeper?”

“She’s not my girlfriend,” Kyle answered. “She’s just a friend.”

“Suuuuure,” Sebastian said with a smile. “Anyway, all joking aside, we killed a Transcendent as mortals. That’s kind of a big deal, and I’m not sure if that’s ever happened before.”

“Was difficult enough,” Kyle answered. “I nearly fucking died.”

“You’re telling me,” Sebastian said with a chuckle. “I thought you were a goner.”

“Speaking of, why didn’t you save me earlier?” Kyle asked. “That safe came a bit late.”

“And waste my shot at killing her? I still needed to prepare a bit more. Sorry to tell you, but dealing with a threat to my life is more important to me than the life of a guy I met five minutes ago.”

“Yeah, okay,” Kyle answered casually. “I mean, it was the right decision. “

The two of them quickly saw the World Peak and approached it.

“Oh, there she is!” Sebastian shouted as he saw Selene waiting on the first mountain.

“Hey, where’ve you been?” Kyle transmitted to Selene.

When Selene saw Kyle, her expression became mixed.

There was relief, guilt, but also determination.

“I thought I would just get in the way,” she transmitted back. “What if she used me as some sort of hostage?”

“You just wanted to save your ass,” Kyle transmitted with a laugh.

A shocked expression came over Selene, and as she looked at the ground, her expression became thoughtful and uncertain.

Kyle noticed her change in expression.

‘Ah, fuck,’ he thought. ‘I probably made an insensitive comment.’

‘But it’s the truth, right? I mean, if our places were switched, I would also fuck off. What am I supposed to do, watch and cheer her on?’

Kyle and Sebastian reached the mountain and officially entered the home of Silvester and the Chief.

At least, they hoped this already counted as their home.

They hadn’t really seen them yet.

“There’s no reason to feel ashamed,” Kyle said in an effort to cheer up Selene. “I would’ve done the same thing in your shoes.”

Selene’s expression changed from uncertain to annoyed and angry.

Yet, instead of answering, she just glared at Kyle.

“What?” Kyle asked with a confused shrug.

“You wouldn’t have even tried?” she asked.

“I would be helpless!” Kyle said. “I would be so weak that I might just randomly explode from the shockwaves of a random attack. I would be more of a distraction than help. It’s the right thing to fuck off.”

Selene took a deep breath through her nose with a cold expression.

Sebastian smiled uncomfortably as he watched.

“Then, I did the right thing,” Selene said in a neutral tone.

“Yep,” Kyle answered.

Selene nodded slowly. “Good.”

Then, she turned around. “Let’s go. It might not be safe here.”

After that, Selene jumped over several peaks, traveling towards the north.

“Right!” Kyle shouted as he jumped after her.

“Did anyone ever tell you that you’re bad with women?” Sebastian transmitted to Kyle while jumping after him.

“On Earth, yeah,” Kyle answered. “Haven’t heard a comment about that in forever. Why? Did I make a mistake?”

“You told her that you would abandon her,” Sebastian said.

“Yeah, but it’s the right choice in the hypothetical she gave me, right?” Kyle asked.

“Yes, but the right choice isn’t always the right choice,” Sebastian answered. “Bet you’re real proud of that smartass comment,” Kyle said. “You telling yourself in your head that this was a smart thing to say?”

“Hey, that kind of hostility is uncalled for,” Sebastian answered while trying to suppress a smile. “I’m dishing out age-old wisdom here.”

While they were talking, a huge storm cloud rapidly gathered above them.

“That you?” Kyle asked Sebastian, looking at the storm cloud.

Sebastian’s eyes narrowed. “No, but I know who it is.”

The next moment, a tall man with flowing blue hair came from the sky and looked down at Sebastian and Kyle.

For a while, the man focused on Sebastian in particular.

Several balls of lightning gathered around Sebastian as he glared at the floating man aggressively.

“Oh? The Winterfire Empire wants to become the Winterfire Kingdom again?” Sebastian asked. “Wanna go from five to three Transcendents?”

The man looked at Sebastian with coldness and pride.

“Sebastian,” he said. “To think that you would betray us after all we’ve done for you.”

“Shut the fuck up, Harald!” Sebastian shouted. “For you, I don’t need help! Let’s go right now!”

Kyle felt the thick Water Ether in the air and realized why Sebastian didn’t respect Harald’s power.

‘A guy with a Water Affinity against a guy with a Lightning Affinity,’ Kyle thought. ‘Yeah, I can see how such a fight would go.’

‘But we don’t have time for that.’

In order to stop another fight from occurring, Kyle used his ultimate weapon.

“This is my own private domicile, and I won’t be harassed!” he shouted.
