Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1037: Anubis' Fury

Chapter 1037: Anubis’ Fury

“What?” Iskar widened his eyes. Although he had seen how Anubis blocked his attacks previously, this was the first time someone stopped his Self Sacrifice.

Anubis muttered, “Foolish mortal. You have done something even more unforgivable than any murderers in the world.

“How dare you, a mortal, trap the people inside this world? How dare you provoke the underworld and mess around with the cycle of life and death?” Anubis stood up from his seat.

“Hmph!” Iskar harrumphed. He released an even more powerful ability. The resentment within it was even more powerful.

If it were a normal person, they probably would have gone insane from all the resentment ringing in their head. After all, this powerful strength came at a price. While resentment could be used, it was a double-edged sword.

All the people who used Self Sacrifice in the past would show how tainted their souls were. But this one was different. It was only proper for the cycle of life and death to remain balanced.

In other words, all the dead were allowed to enter that cycle and either lived forever in Heaven or Hell or entered the cycle of reincarnation.

However, what he couldn’t forgive was trapping the dead in the world of the living. Unlike extinguishing one’s soul, which would erase that record, by keeping the soul, it was the same as challenging the authority of the underworld. If it weren’t dealt with properly, the life and death cycle would be harmed as well.

That was why Anubis was furious. If his tainted blood didn’t have their resentment, he probably would not get this angry.

But what made him even more frustrated was that not only did he trap these souls, but he also utilized them like items.

This was different from a soul or a ghost that Nathan was used to creating a spirit weapon. There was a deal between them. The ghost would be able to pass on later, or its sins would be judged because it was conscious.

However, committing a crime by using these resentments meant the innocent would be judged guilty even though they acted because of someone else and weren’t even conscious the whole time. In other words, all these trapped souls would go to hell to be punished or get devoured by Ammit due to someone else.

The moment he determined the actual situation, he was furious. Anubis activated his scales. As he expected, the scales tipped to the guilty side, which meant these people would face the worst even if they were freed. There was even a chance for their souls to disappear.

The scales unleashed a powerful golden wave, but even with his divinity, Iskar was the one with the upper hand.

He had more ena than him, and the resentments also boosted his strength.

Even with the strongest force he could muster, the curse energy still remained and continued toward him.

What Anubis didn’t expect was that Qilin had the same opinion. “To think that there would be such a foolish technique in this world… the one that disrupts the balance. Even if I don’t want it, I might have to make my move as well.”

“!!!” Nathan widened his eyes in surprise as he suddenly felt a surge of strength coming from within. This strength was different from Anubis, so he couldn’t help but turn around, thinking Sera was here.

But his feelings pointed at Qilin. “Qilin?”

“I have given you the power to fight the curse even if it means hurting someone. I’m the protector of harmony, so I shall fulfill my duty. Do whatever you want with this power.”

“!!!” Nathan frowned. He extended his hand. To test it, he used the Time Barrier to block the remaining curse energy coming to Anubis.

Normally, the Time Barrier would disperse the energy, but with a curse, it could do nothing if the curse latched onto it and just continued. The resentment kept the energy together after all.

But Qilin activated the power of Heaven, which granted him the purification attribute. As a result, the resentment got dissolved by the power of Heaven, while the Time Barrier dispersed the remaining ena.

“What?” Iskar was dumbfounded. He never thought that Nathan would still be able to fight him to this extent. “You…”

Iskar took out a small piece of branch that had been sliced in several places to make it ‘bleed.’ Iskar dropped his blood on it to make it seem as if the tree was bleeding. “Die.”

In that instant, the branch shot up numerous black lights into the sky. All of them were coming at Nathan.

“Anubis. Don’t worry about me.” Nathan smiled, telling him he should focus on the offensive.

“Fighting with quantity? I’m better than you in this area.” Nathan grinned as he summoned two bullets and divided them into 256 each.

“Zhen, Qian, Xun.” Qilin activated three authorities this time. The Thunder Authority granted Nathan’s bullets the speed of lightning, the Heaven Authority meant purification ability, and the Wind Authority was the stability of his power.

His bullets flew toward the incoming black lights. Just like his bullets, these black lights would fly toward him and reach him. An ordinary attack wouldn’t be enough to stop it because of the Self Sacrifice.

But the bullets had changed completely. Qilin had chosen to drop his softness to all living beings for such a sinner.

The moment the bullets hit the curse, they neutralized each other. Still, the curse was much stronger than a single bullet. It took Nathan ten bullets just to take down one light, and there were a lot more coming toward him.

However, Nathan had prepared for this.

“Save Spell!”

Instead of his bullets, the Save Spell was used on the curse so that they would return a few seconds into the past, allowing him to have more time to shoot everything down. With this, he completely fended off the curse attack from Iskar.

With Anubis not required to protect Nathan anymore, he followed Nathan’s instructions and reached Iskar. Before he could do anything, Anubis activated his scale again. “You are a sinner. You shall be judged. Scales of Justice.”
