Chapter 1199: Targets
Chapter 1199: Targets
“I’m pleased that I can be of help, Count Klein.” Neyeid politely bowed.
“No, no. I should be the one thanking you. With this, our people can get more food.”
“I don’t deserve such high praise.”
The count patted Neyeid’s shoulder. But before he could say something, someone knocked on the door.
“Hmm? Who?”
“It is Shuren, my lord.”
“Come in.” The count couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows as his butler entered the room.
The butler walked toward the count and whispered something that changed the count’s expression.
“…” Neyeid was observing their reaction. It was supposed to be a happy occasion, but the count was actually frowning. What did the butler actually say?
The count nodded and hurriedly turned to Neyeid, smiling as if nothing had happened. “Thank you for today. Unfortunately, I have an important matter right now, so I’ll take my leave.”
“Yes. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call me.” Neyeid nodded. He hadn’t grown close enough to get the information that made him frown.
The knight, who was supposed to guard the count from Neyeid, stopped him and led him out of the mansion. He was curious about the information, so there was no choice but to employ another method. Neyeid immediately muttered, “Sonia.”
Sonia, who had been hiding in Neyeid’s shadow, suddenly spoke as if she were a ghost.
“I heard something about a device. If not for that summoner being so vigilant, I would have been able to hear more.”
“Device?” Neyeid frowned. If they were on Gratzel, Neyeid would be confused. However, this continent wasn’t that advanced in terms of technology.
In other words, the devices they were talking about must be the ones Nathan spread.
“It has been three weeks since Nathan produced his device. Looks like they are searching for a way to acquire it that even a count is informed about.” Neyeid contemplated. He originally got closer to the count to use his connection to climb the ladder.
Once he got to meet a marquis or someone ranked above them, he would have revealed the device.
But it looked like there was no need to do so. If they were indeed searching for the cloud-repelling device, he could put his plan in motion right away.
Neyeid raised two fingers. “I need you to do two things for me. First, confirm whether they are talking about the cloud-repelling device or not. Second, I want you to create a situation that will result in exposing that device. I have to mention it as naturally as possible, so your role is crucial.”
Sonia nodded. “I understand. I have to be careful, so it might take a day or two, but I will try.”
After saying those words, Sonia disappeared.
Neyeid glanced to the side as Revon and Christopher, who had no choice but to wait for Neyeid outside, returned to his side.
Revon mentioned, “By the way, I heard they got the names.”
“They have?”
“Yes. Apparently, Nathan and Captain have split up due to the enemy attack. Nathan is coming to the empire, while the captain will remain there to gather more information.”
“I see.” Neyeid acted normal, but inside, he was shaken.
Revon also sneakily clenched his fists. “Well, he had told me about the descriptions. You still remember the attacker, right? Not just their appearance, but their method of killing.”
“Of course. I still remember.” Neyeid nodded. “The one who killed my family crushed their heads with a mace and ripped them apart.”
Revon widened his eyes. “Does that person have short, spiky brown hair?”
“!!!” Neyeid raised his eyebrows. “Do you know him?”
“Yes. He was one of the five people who attacked Nathan and the captain. His name is Alex Tear. Alex is his given name, while Tear is his codename. The problem is that he is on the captain’s level.”
“…” Neyeid’s expression darkened. “Are you saying that I won’t be able to kill him?”
“As long as you don’t care about the method, you can kill him. Besides, we are together. I will help you.” Revon nodded.
“That is fine with me.” Neyeid bit his lips. He could still remember watching Alex Tear crushing his mother’s and sister’s heads with his mace as if it had just happened yesterday. As long as that person died, he couldn’t care less about the method.
“As for Christopher, his target is also one of the people who attacked the captain. His name is Sniper.”
“Really? Have I told you about my past?”
“I know. That’s the reason you left the church. Your friends are gone one by one because of an attack from far away.”
Christopher nodded, confirming the information. It looked like it was really that person.
“Am I strong enough to kill him?”
“That person is someone who can kill the captain as long as there is a gap to exploit. That’s just how big his firepower is. So, I don’t think so.”
Christopher looked down. He had tried his best, but as expected, his growth was not fast enough.
“Either way, there is one thing you need to know. The enemy this time has 6 crystal fusion stage and 9 crystal armor stage summoners.
“You can say that a crystal fusion stage summoner is similar to a world class summoner on our continent.
“That’s why this mission is going to be much harder… No, it is impossible if you look at the bigger picture.
“However, Nathan must be thinking about it. I just want to assure him that no matter which method he uses, we are willing to comply as long as we can take them down.
“I believe this will make Nathan have an easier time planning the entire thing. What do you think?”
With an organization that powerful, Neyeid and Christopher nodded their heads without hesitation.
Rather than failing, it was better to succeed even if it wasn’t satisfactory for them.
“All right. I will tell Nathan about it. He is currently running away from the attackers, so we have to begin our preparation as quickly as possible. If he’s still chased by them after entering the empire, I would like to launch an ambush and kill one or two people if possible.”
Neyeid and Christopher nodded. Neyeid was determined to speed up his plans.
