Chapter 2035: This time, the ghosts wouldn’t escape.
“Lady Sharnoth needs to do something.
Anything.
This cannot continue.”
Maeve spoke with the same emotionless tone and Sharnoth…
She could only clench her fist in frustration.
“She is correct. This needs to stop.”
Varys nodded.
“The matter still isn’t big, but it is rising at a surprising rate. The worlds he has targeted all belong to our faction. It won’t take long for other worlds in our faction to realize what is happening, and if every single world connected to us starts falling without us being able to do anything,
our faction will fall apart.”
The Elar’zhun spoke with a grim look on his face.
“Why not go to the Supreme Worlds?”
Suddenly, Siara spoke up.
The rest of the Council Members turned towards her and frowned.
Most of these beings came from destroyed worlds that were once part of a Supreme World Faction. However, when their worlds were destroyed, the Supreme Worlds did not do anything to help them.
None of the people here saw the Supreme Worlds in a positive light. The very thought of seeking their help repulsed them. Siara was no exception to this,
but…
“The four of them oversee the entire Universe. Their rules, especially regarding warfare, are extremely clear.
What that coward is doing goes against the rules they value so much. If we can use them, then…
why not?”
Siara suggested, and suddenly,
“That is a plausible solution.”
Maeve nodded.
As a Nocthari, she did not feel any emotions. She was one of the only few beings in the Council who held no prejudice against the Supreme Worlds. If she could use them to get what she wanted, she did not see anything wrong with this plan.
“If we report his actions to the Supreme Worlds, they will take action.
His ability to avoid the World’s Will’s detection will also interest them.”
When the most logical being in the Council suggested it, the rest of the Council members started thinking about it as well.
It wasn’t a matter they could solve on their own; they had already tried.
The biggest problem was that the Leander Family had no home. They were wandering mercenaries. The only information that could be found about them was in the Mercenaries Hall, and even there, they were regarded as legends with more rumors than actual information regarding them.
They were like ghosts.
There was no way to track them down.
They entered worlds, assassinated their leaders, left the said worlds in a vulnerable state, and disappeared before anything could be done about them.
All they ever found were ashes—
—and the same taunting sigil, deliberately left behind like a middle finger to the faction.
The bastards were invisible.
How was… one supposed to fight such an enemy?
Letting the Supreme Worlds take on this headache was a much more preferable option.
But…
“No.”
Sharnoth shook her head.
She stared at her Council Members as her crimson eyes shined dangerously.
“Supreme Worlds will not be involved in our matters.”
She declared in a strict voice, settling the matter once and for all.
No Supreme Worlds.
Varys, Siara, and even Maeve all turned silent. None of them dared to stand against the Queen.
After all, all of them knew what would happen if they did. Even Maeve, who was incapable of feeling fear, stayed back.
Sharnoth then stared at Varys and,
“How many of the ten worlds still exist?”
“Two. The rest have lost the war against their enemies.”
“Send reinforcements to those two worlds.”
Sharnoth ordered.
“As you command, My Queen.”
“Send our men to all the worlds of our faction. Tell them to stay on guard at all times. I need an instant report the moment something happens, and make sure you contain the matter here.
No two worlds in the faction will share the information of there being Khaemorr delegations in their world.
Is that clear?”
“If we send our forces to all the worlds in our faction, it will weaken us considerably.”
Maeve spoke up.
She looked into Sharnoth’s eyes and,
“We are still at war, My Queen. We still have Aurendor to worry about.”
“If they dare to attack us, let them.
I would like to see the cowards acting brave for once.”
Sharnoth did not back down.
If anything, she would prefer if that happened.
She never wanted war.
She never wanted to involve an entire faction in this.
She simply wanted an opportunity—an opportunity to get rid of the enemies who destroyed her world, fair and square.
She would very much like a chance to take on all her enemies alone, without them hiding behind their World’s Will.
Seeing her eyes, Maeve backed down, and her doubts were eased.
She knew just how strong her Queen was. This was the entire reason she had decided to follow her in the first place.
If the enemies did actually come for them, this might actually be good for them.
“I will make arrangements then, My Queen.”
After the Nocthari backed down, Varys bowed his head, taking the responsibility.
“That will be all.”
Sharnoth spoke as she stood up from her throne.
The moment she did, the rest of the Council Members followed her and stood up as well. The Queen walked out of the meeting room, and only once she was gone did the rest of the Council Members dare to breathe.
They stared at each other, somewhat taken aback.
Honestly, while most people knew how all this could have a big effect on their faction, none of them were actually worried.
After all, the enemy wasn’t directly targeting them—they were only targeting Lowest or Low-Level Worlds. They were safe.
Even Varys wasn’t particularly worried. But even then, since his Queen had passed the order, he was going to follow.
He left the meeting hall and went to his subordinates to pass the Queen’s orders.
Khaemorr reacted according to Sharnoth’s instruction, and very quickly, their men were dispatched to different worlds with different artifacts. Artifacts that would summon the strongest Khaemorr Warriors the instant they were activated.
It was time to take down the Leander Family.
This time, the ghosts wouldn’t escape.
