Chapter 1781 - 1638 It Woke Up
Chapter 1781: Chapter 1638 It Woke Up
A swirl of black dust lifted the eerie dense gauze, fluttering around the Heavenly Boundary Monument.
This stone tablet, regardless of how many years of wind erosion, rain, or scorching sun it endured, could never blur any of its ancient imprints and writings.
It stands firm on this land, guarding something, yet also seems to be reminding people of something.
Chu Mu stands beneath the Heavenly Boundary Monument, gazing up at its top.
He wonders why the Heavenly Boundary Monument exists; it represents a certain era, yet is more distant than the wheel of time. The carvings on it merely record a story of a millennium, but during even older times, the writings occasionally depict the feats of another creature, or perhaps in the next wheel of time, this monument will bear his own story?
Beneath this Heavenly Boundary Monument lies the suppression of an ancient dark wind hall, housing the strongest ancient Jiao person of the Fifth Era.
It eyes closed, like a devil feigning sleep, occasionally peeking at the life on this land, causing a frightful smirk. Its dominion always shrouds this land; should it awaken, regardless of any new race or new master on this land, they will all be reclaimed by it.
Chu Mu recalls the first time he stood beneath the Heavenly Boundary Monument, only retaining a fragment of memory in his mind. As his strength increased, this memory gradually surfaced, and slowly he stepped onto the path of the Monument Weepers.
And throughout the human domain, there are many people like him. Unintentionally guided by the Heavenly Boundary Monument, with the enhancement of their strength, they gradually collide with other Monument Weepers on the same narrow path...
And the ultimate end of this path, is this devil feigning sleep.
It could be said the Heavenly Boundary Monument is arranging some people’s destinies.
Previously, Chu Mu didn’t know, because he was still standing at a towering height, unable to see the true face of all this.
Now, he sees much, indeed.
The face of the solar eclipse, the face of the Monument Weepers, the entire Spirit World in his mind no longer seems vast and expansive as before, but instead gradually resembles a cage, with its rules set and overseen by the Heavenly Palace.
"Huh huh huh huh huh~~~~~~~~~~"
Gusts of demon wind blew in, the dark Heavenly Boundary Monument no longer seemed majestic and proud, but rather like a lonely, proud ghost, manipulating something.
Chu Mu leapt up, flying to the top of the Heavenly Boundary Monument.
With his hand, he tore apart the spatial patterns above the Heavenly Boundary Monument, revealing an abrupt emergence of a space channel leading to another dimension.
Without further thought, Chu Mu flew into it.
...
Still it was darkness and piercing gales, occasionally accompanied by the frigid air coming from the distant Ice Palace.
As Chu Mu walked into this great hall suspended in darkness and howling winds, he felt as if stepping into a graveyard.
Suddenly, a pair of cold eyes appeared above the dome of the Black Hall, staring icily at Chu Mu, like sharp spikes stabbing into Chu Mu’s eyes, sending chills straight to his soul!
Chu Mu gazed with soul sense, discovering on the dome of the Wind Hall lies a slender creature, entirely black, its fur neat, and its long tail hangs down from the dome, just touching the steps of the suspended great hall.
The tail sways gently, appearing leisurely and carefree, yet hides a frightful menace!
Chu Mu’s heart sank; this creature was all too familiar to him—it was identical to the black little fox held often in Yu Suo’s embrace!
The Seven Sins Fox’s Dark King Shang!
Chu Mu remembered clearly, in the Wind Hall there was a petrified Dark King Shang, and the one lying on the dome now, isn’t it exactly the same?
Chu Mu had personally witnessed the strength of the Ten Thousand Years of Undying Dark Sorrow King, and this Dark King Shang in front seemed in aura not weaker at all than the Ten Thousand Years of Undying Dark Sorrow King.
"Young Master, this fellow is guarding outside, it seems the ancient Jiao person hasn’t fully awakened yet," said the Fox Elder to Chu Mu.
The ancient Jiao person has slept for five thousand years; the solar eclipse indeed can awaken it, but this awakening is ultimately a slow process.
Since the Dark King Shang is guarding outside, surely the ancient Jiao person is still bound by something—this is undoubtedly good news for Chu Mu!
"Woo woo woo woo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Dark King Shang’s eyes were filled with hostility; should this human dare approach a step closer, its claws would surely tear this human apart.
It slowly stood up, the dense dark aura emanating from its body gradually forming into a fierce dark storm, swaying and causing the entire space to tremble unstably.
Suddenly, a colossal fox shadow appeared behind the Dark King Shang, its majestic body even more awe-inspiring than the towering Wind Hall, its profound eyes staring icily at the insignificant Chu Mu, seemingly capable with a single glance to turn this weak human into ashes.
Chu Mu knew that this guy already had murderous intent, and immediately began chanting the spell.
Since it’s darkness, let’s see who truly is the ruler of darkness. On either side of Chu Mu, two black summoning symbols appeared. From within the symbols, the Dream of Oblivion with feathers flying, flapped its sixteen wings and hovered beside Chu Mu.
On the other side, out of the pattern stepped Zhan Ye in dark armor. Facing the Dark King Shang, an enemy seen almost as a legend, Zhan Ye’s eyes sparked with light!
Only such an enemy could let it unleash all its power!
Dark King Shang slowly descended along the eaves and dark pillars of the great hall, like an emperor stepping down from his throne, his eyes always carrying a lonely arrogance and emotionless brutality!
Fierce fangs were exposed from its maw, the dark fox shadow behind it simultaneously revealed frightful fangs!
Suddenly, Dark King Shang transformed into black lightning, pouncing toward the Dream of Oblivion!
Its fox-like soul shadow actually separated from its body, with its attack target being Zhan Ye!
The black lightning swept past, its speed unimaginably quick; the Dream of Oblivion had already dodged, but still ended up with a long claw mark on its body, blood immediately began to slowly flow from the Dream of Oblivion.
Chu Mu abruptly turned, finding that Dark King Shang had already appeared behind the Dream of Oblivion, like a hunter playing with its prey. It extended its claws, elegantly licking the blood off its claws.
Such fast speed!!
Chu Mu was startled; the Dream of Oblivion was highly agile, seldom could any creature directly attack it.
Yet the Dark King Shang swept by, even the Dream of Oblivion could not evade; this was despite the fact that the Dream of Oblivion, after the baptism of Divine Dew, was much stronger than during the war!
On the other side, the Dark King Shang’s soul fox shadow and its main body’s attacking strategies are entirely different, the main body of Dark King Shang strikes fast, drawing blood in a single move.
Whereas the soul fox shadow split off from Dark King Shang is dominantly imposing, boldly advancing and retreating, every strike makes the space violently tremble, even Zhan Ye now possessing high-grade immortal strength struggles to fend off the powerfully fierce soul fox shadow!
Zhan Ye was wounded, the Dream of Oblivion was also wounded. Shortly after engagement, this Dark King Shang, asleep for five thousand years, exhibited terrifying strength, truly deserving of being the strongest creature once upon a time—far surpassing those ancient Jiao people’s subordinates awakened in the Wind Palace!
Chu Mu’s heart sank; in the Wind Palace, there must still be other ancient Jiao people’s subordinates guarding. If neither the Dream of Oblivion nor Zhan Ye combined could deal with this Dark King Shang, he might not even be able to enter the Wind Palace, let alone plant seeds inside!
"Roar roar roar!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Zhan Ye roared wildly, forced to use Limb Regeneration within just a few moves, proving how terrifying Dark King Shang’s strength is. What further frustrated Zhan Ye was that this was merely a soul shadow of Dark King Shang!
The Dream of Oblivion faced the true Dark King Shang; under its eerie and demonic attacks, even the Dream of Oblivion could not maintain the usual calm and composure in battle.
Wounds with blood on its body gradually increased, and the dark purple lightning surrounding it couldn’t touch a single hair of Dark King Shang no matter how densely packed it was.
"Young Master, this guy’s strength is extremely abnormal, it seems stronger than the Dark King beside Yu Suo. The Young Master must summon another Soul Pet to deal with it, otherwise the Young Master might have to personally step in." Fox Elder glanced at the suddenly disadvantaged situation and hurriedly said.
Getting wounded right at the onset of battle proves this Dark King Shang’s strength is far greater than Zhan Ye and the Dream of Oblivion, fearing before Zhan Ye raises its strength further, all Limb Regeneration would already be expended.
Chanting a spell, Chu Mu summoned Night with the same dark attribute.
Night’s strength after being nurtured by Ning Man’er should match the current Dream of Oblivion; Chu Mu originally thought two Soul Pets would suffice against the Dark King Shang but realized he had to mobilize all three of his dark attribute Soul Pets.
With Night’s appearance, the Dream of Oblivion and Zhan Ye got a slight respite. Chu Mu knew he shouldn’t waste too much time outside this palace, and then transformed into a streak of black and white flame, flying toward the interior of the Wind Palace.
...
The Wind Palace remained silent, the entire great hall’s appearance visible in the dimness.
Originally, numerous statues gathered in the great hall, but now all those statues had stopped, the only one looking like a half-giant creature half kneeling beneath the ancient Jiao person’s throne, what it was unknown.
On the ancient Jiao person’s king’s chair, the head and chest are human, the remaining body deep blue dragon of the ancient Jiao person still leaning there.
Chu Mu glanced at it, his body instantly feeling cold.
He distinctly remembered the posture in which the ancient Jiao person lay petrified, a side lounging position with one hand propping its head.
However, the sleeping posture of the ancient Jiao person has changed; both hands placed on its chest, eyes even though tightly shut giving an eerie feeling as if it could open at any moment, and its knife blade scales covered dragon tail transforming from coiling the throne to spreading down along the staircase...
It has awakened!!
