Chapter 1610: Reason

"Attack!"

"Ahhh!"

"Sir. We are being overwhelmed!"

The warriors fought the demons with everything they'd got, but they were still being overwhelmed by the demons.

"Kh…" The commander of the city couldn't help but grit his teeth. He had never thought the situation would be this bad.

'How many people have died already? There were supposed to be 7,000 warriors stationed on the wall, but it looked like there were only 4,000 left.'

The commander knew that it was impossible for them to defeat the demons. But he never thought it would be this fast for them to fall.

'I'm sorry, Your Majesty. It looks like we can only last for another two hours.' The commander gritted his teeth.

Although he was unwilling, he had no other choice. At least before he died, he wanted to drag as many demons down as possible.

Suddenly, a voice echoed from the sky. "Attack!"

The airships descended as the runes were being activated at the same time.

All three airships immediately shot at the demons around the wall, killing as many demons as possible.

Then, they descended to the top of the wall and lowered a huge wooden board, connecting the wall with the airships.

"Charge!" Warriors from the ship came out. They rushed toward the wall full of energy.

They took down one demon after another, shocking everyone in the city.

"Who is the commander?!" One warrior asked out loud.

"The commander is here!" A man raised his sword and released his spiritual energy to give a signal.

Without hesitation, the warrior led a group toward the commander.

"I am Rucks, reporting to the commander. I have brought 4,000 people with me. Please arrange it according to the situation on the wall. Let the warriors here get some rest! The battle has just begun!"

The commander didn't expect such a development. He subconsciously asked for confirmation. "Are you sure? Are you the reinforcements from the capital?"

"His Majesty has given his decree. We will help the people in this city. Once we are done, we will turn around and strike the demons from behind. Please make your arrangements!"

"Y-Yes!" The commander became excited. This was an opportunity. With a lot of demons dying because of the airships as well as the arrival of fresh troops, they could annihilate all these demons and hit the demon army from behind.

Without wasting any more seconds, the commander immediately gave one order after another, making sure that they could lower the casualties as much as possible while ensuring that the surviving warriors could still participate in the pincer attack.

Once the fresh troops had disembarked, the airships then took off into the sky.

"That's…" The commander was confused, thinking that the airships wanted to help them.

"There are still more fresh troops inside. They are planning to head to another city to do the exact same thing. This way, we will have a higher chance of defeating the demon army by using that pincer."

The commander was astounded. If it were truly like he said, their pincer attack would be successful.

He got more and more excited, believing that the kingdom hadn't forsaken them.

With the arrival of fresh troops, the morale also increased drastically, so their power increased severalfold, causing the demons to be the ones getting overwhelmed.

As Milfa continued going back and forth to send reinforcement, Anna was already in the middle of a fierce clash with the Supreme Devil.

Their swords clashed, and their energy produced a shock wave that pushed all demons around them, creating a battlefield truly just for them.

"Haaa!" The supreme devil roared and pushed Anna back.

Anna furrowed her eyebrows while her foot slid on the ground.

"It won't be the same as before, Anna Stargaze. I have grown much stronger than you now." The supreme devil snorted. He rushed forward and struck her again.

Anna didn't plan to back down. She clashed with him head-on, but as the supreme devil said, she ended up getting overpowered.

"…" Anna observed the supreme devil carefully. This was the first time she realized what had happened to the supreme devil. "It looks like you used the Supreme Devil to reach that level."

"This is a level that no ordinary people can step on!" The supreme devil shouted.

"Indeed. Unfortunately, you are just one of the ordinary people you mentioned. You know it too!"

"Shut up!" The supreme devil swung his blade, sending forth a powerful sword strike.

Anna struck the sword strike as her hair turned white and lightning began to spark around her body.

With the boost from the Lightning Transformation, she destroyed the sword strike with her own while using the lightning spark to kill the surrounding demons.

"I am not an ordinary person!" The supreme devil raised his voice.

"It looks like I have misjudged you." Anna, surprisingly, agreed with him.

"You…" The supreme devil was taken aback and instantly changed his attitude. "That's right. You have misjudged me. It looks like you understand this power. You were supposed to be the most extraordinary piece that I would get."

"!!!" Anna's body shook.

The original Anna suddenly said, "Oi, Anna. Do you understand what he is saying?"

"Yeah. It looks like the supreme devil was the alternate target."

Anna and the original Anna had figured out something. In the past life, Anna would have gone bad because of Josephine.

The supreme devil might have chosen to nurture her so that he could use her life to make him reach this level.

However, the supreme devil and the land demon king, aka the third prince, didn't get along in the past. After all, the supreme devil was the demon king's subordinate, and the demon king wasn't pressured by Noel to join hands with him fully. So, the demon king didn't want him to reach this level and threaten him.

That was why he killed her and Noel.

The demon king got rid of the man who could threaten him as well as the woman who could cause his subordinates to outshine him.

It was basically two birds with one stone.

'So that's why they killed us in the past…' Anna's expression darkened as she immediately corrected herself. "Ah, right. You are truly not an ordinary human. You are worse than a human, you pathetic traitor."
