Chapter 970: Chapter 968-Bad Decision.

Some Time Later, After Austin Lost Protection:

Third Person POV:

All was going well and good within the archery association. People were moving around, the atmosphere was calm, the ones truly in power were slowly implementing the plan that Austin had put in place, but suddenly it felt as if the whole atmosphere froze, as if something ancient was staring into the place.

And before anyone could truly understand, the space around the tower started to warp, and in the blink of an eye, 3 powerful ships surrounded the tower. It was as if the space around 3 points of the tower wrapped, and those 3 ships arrived—their presence soon casting a shadow onto the ground: 3 massive ships just floated around.

They quickly earned the eyes of everyone, and especially the powerful people in Babylon City, but when the mana signature and the mark displayed in the ship were seen, everyone turned away quietly. The sign of the war council was held within the ships, and soon from it several powerful figures descended—all of them surrounding the building.

Many of them split apart fast and created a covering over the place, locking down the whole section. The ones inside, though confused, watched as the guards descended and started to move the people around—gathering the unfortunate ones that were trapped to different locations, while moving the members to another gathering.

It was fast, calculated, and done in quick actions. Before most could even react, the actions were being done, but there were others who did react correctly. The moment the situation of the ships themselves came into view, messages were sent to the appropriate people—this was done before the war council set up the barriers and closed off any communications possible inside and out.

With quick actions, they moved, seemingly acting like they owned the whole place, something which was quickly degrading and acting in a manner that showed no respect for such a great organisation.

"What’s the meaning of this?"

Eldon, the human Quiverlord that was left in the tower at the time, asked as he narrowed his eyes at the member in front of him. The person in question was another human who looked quite calm and intellectual—his hair styled quite nicely, while a spectacle remained on his face, though the power released off him showed that he was at the level of a half-step imperial realm.

"We got notice of some kind of corruption that has taken place here. Our readings show great danger surrounding this place, plus maybe a hint of a cover-up?"

The last of the man’s words was quite stressed as the expression on Eldon stayed calm, though the anger burning in him started to get hotter and hotter—as even the mana around him started to feel like a hot, sharp razor, seemingly like an arrow that would blast forth at any time.

"We were made unaware of any such actions to take place, and who the hell are you?"

Eldon asked with a smile—the mana around him now sharp and sizzling, like archers ready to pierce at a moment’s notice—while at the same time he was holding off any attack all around and giving orders to the guards and others to stay down. Any actions taken wrongly now can be used against them by the war council.

"My name is Lorel Von Biff. I am a certified inquisitor of the corruption division and have the authority to define coverage in case of any corruption-related incidents."

Lorel spoke, and as he did, a powerful force of restriction fell over the entire tower—this power even making Eldon weak to his knees as he felt the presence of several imperial realm cultivators floating around.

’4 different Imperial level beings: 3 at Imperial level 3 and one even at Imperial level 4!’

The thought made Eldon’s mind shake due to the very fact itself that such beings, which have passed over the level of Imperial level 2 itself, were extremely high-ranking beings—leaders of organisations themselves—and most of them had come here together themselves, and Eldon directly understood what that meant.

’They were here to restrain master Eleanor!’

Just the thought itself was burning fiercely in his mind, along with dread. It meant they all came prepared, and this will not be anything that will be easy to hold back. Right now, within the deepest sector of the tower, Eleanor is trying her hardest to take a step forward for her strength, and these people came to disturb that exactly.

’They don’t want her taking a step forward!’

Eldon quickly understood the topic at hand. Even so young, Eleanor is already at the step of Imperial realm 3—she was on the cusp of perhaps taking a step to rank 4, and it meant the strength of the whole organisation would take a step forward. Not to mention, Eleanor is a pioneer on her own path, which means nobody will be able to predict the kind of powers and abilities she will wield when she takes steps forward.

She might even take a step into the situation where even the war council won’t be able to hold her in action anymore, which wasn’t good for anyone at all.

’This plan must have been in motion for some time. Perhaps did Draxton’s betrayal even have something to do with the war council?’

As that dangerous thought swirled in the mind of Eldon, he felt the power hold even him down, while Lorel kept his gentlemanly appearance with a warm smile as he spoke.

"Please don’t make this any harder on yourself. We found something extremely worrying about the tower, so we had to take this action for the safety of the world."

’All this just because we refuse to bend to the war council!’

Hate burned within the eyes of Eldon and his heart, him trying his best to break through the constraints on his body but yet failing to do so. Eldon could tell that the whole tower, in an instant, was being held hostage. Perhaps they even hit the rest of the towers at the same time, too—this was an all-out attack with the intention of bringing down the prestige of the archery association!

"Don’t."

Suddenly, the voice sounded out, and before Eldon could react, the pressure on top of him lessened, and just as that happened, the figure of Eleanor appeared right in front of Eldon.

"Master....."

He whispered with anger and worry in his tone, and Eleanor right now looked at Lorel who was still smiling but had a single tear of sweat fall down his forehead as he gazed at Eleanor, who stood in front of him—her presence like a raw power pressing down at him, and thankfully, he was saved from being crushed by one of the Imperials.

Eleanor, snorting, disappeared from their sight as she appeared in front of the Imperial realm beings floating around up high over the tower, far from sight that anyone can normally see. Of the 3 of them at 3rd level of the imperial realm, 2 were elves, and one was a beastperson. And taking the main lead at Imperial level 4 was another elf: a male with a light smile on his face.

The 4th-level Imperial realm elf looked older, with tightened grey hairs filling his face, small wrinkles around—he looked more like a middle-aged man, which only goes to show that his age might be far different from any of them can even imagine.

"Child, don’t make this worse for yourself. Let us do our search, and if everything is fine, we will settle this normally."

"Hehe...if everything was normal and you wanted this to be civil, you wouldn’t have done anything like this."

Eleanor replied—her eyes calm and her expression too calm, but that was all that was actually calm. The atmosphere around her was anything but calm; the whole weather itself seemed to twist to her mood as the mana around Eleanor started to tremble. For Eldon, it felt like arrows were formed around the mana.

And now for Eleanor, these beings could feel it—they were already feeling the complete pressure of arrows pulling against them. It was as if powerful and sharp arrows were drilling into their bodies! In fact, that was happening just from her intent itself! Eleanor hadn’t even started to move!

’What a terrifying intent.’

The leading Elf thought. Just this intent was enough to kill a half-step Imperial; she wouldn’t even have to do anything—a thought and the enemies would have been full of holes. They wouldn’t even know how they died.

’The council was right. We need to chain her here and now.’

With such a thought, the Elf unfurled a scroll in front of Eleanor, filled with the order of what was given to her and matching the oath that she had taken when she stepped into the Imperial realm—an oath to protect the realms and one where she would have to stand down when the oath would turn against her when it came to the corruption itself.

"By the order bestowed in me, I hereby place the whole of the Archery association under the inspection of the war council, and calling on you to the oath you have taken, I hereby acknowledge it being called forth. Stand down for the safety of the realm and let us do our jobs to guard all life."

As those words were said, invisible chains of the oath that Eleanor had taken coiled around her—restraining her: her power surging around her as she tried to break or resist the oath, and as she tried to do so, the elf spoke.

"Think of your people who follow you, what you have built, and think of your successor. If you fall here, who will protect him?"

The last of the words made Eleanor freeze, and along with it came such a powerful killing intent that it covered over the whole realm—the Imperials were affected, the guards from the war council fell to their knees: too difficult for them to breathe. The whole place seemed to have turned red with blood and death.

"Eleanor, control yourself!"

The elf shouted as the restraints grew tighter around Eleanor, choking her—but she refused: her eyes bloodshot as she looked at the Elf.

"If you dare to touch a hair on my successor, I shall rip out you and everything you love with so much pain you will wish you were dead."

And with those words, she pulled back her killing intent and bloodlust—bringing back the peace of it all as Eleanor floated above with a calm gaze. The rest of the 3 Imperial realms quickly moved around Eleanor and locked her in place. She was caught, and the main Elf smiled.
