Chapter 983 - 981-Made The Move.
Chapter 983: Chapter 981-Made The Move.
Eleanor in question was having the worst of it all. She blamed herself to the limit. Eleanor knew that Austin wouldn’t have ended up like this if it weren’t for her, and she was racked with guilt. She had stayed by Austin’s side continuously for the first three days, but responsibilities and a burning desire for revenge had pulled her aside.
Eleanor once again felt how weak she really is. To have Austin fall over like this, unknown when he will wake up, was the worst for her. Perhaps torture would have been better than this. The guilt she felt was eating her up every day, and she channelled that into getting the biggest compensation from the war council.
Things she could use to enhance her own power. Eleanor would no longer want to see Austin fall for her. She had first entered into training in order to get stronger to protect Austin, but when push came to shove, Austin was the one who protected her. And as much as that filled her with sweetness, it also filled her with a burning amount of guilt at everything that had happened. All she wishes now is to make sure this will never happen again.
.......
"He looks peaceful."
Max spoke as he looked at the sleeping Austin, his hands ruffling through the hair, his eyes a bit calm yet commanding, after which he turned to look at Elda, who had fallen asleep to the side of Austin, her face looking tired even in her sleep, while she still held onto Austin.
"She looks good, too."
Max added as he looked at the tired Grace, her eyes having a certain dark circle to them as he spoke.
"You should take some rest. You deserve it."
Grace shook her head.
"I will be okay when he wakes up and is fine."
Max sighed, seeing Grace’s stubbornness, the same stubbornness also being reflected in Mira and even Nora, though unlike Grace, Nora had been knocked to sleep a long time ago. Unlike Grace, she doesn’t have the power level like Grace to handle long terms without sleep or anything, but even then, it was taking a small toll on Grace, too.
Max held back everything he wanted to say as he looked at Mira, asking with a light tone.
"Where are they?"
Mira didn’t need to know anything other than the question. The question itself made Mira’s expression twist around as she spoke.
"Held in a dungeon, specially controlled by me. I am the only one who can enter and exit."
"I see... I see..."
Max nodded as he took in the words.
"So you have extracted everything you need from them?"
To which Mira nodded her head.
"Yes, right now they are just kept alive for the fun of torturing them."
"Good, though I have brought an expert from my side. Give him an entry. He will take care of them every day from now on."
Max added, to which Mira nodded her head. The ones involved in getting Elda almost taken away had already gone through an unspeakable level of things, and every piece of information needed had been extracted from them. In fact, all six of them had tried to take their own lives too, but were kept in check, and right now they were begging for the sweet release of death, which wasn’t coming that easily to them.
And now it was only getting even worse. In fact, even the demons of hell will have to take up some lessons from these people if they could crawl out from hell.
"So, there is no timeline on when he will wake up?"
"No, the Saintess only said that it will be soon. He is already fully healed. His body just has to wake up."
Mira said while looking sad. Max just patted his daughter as he moved to focus on the other tasks he came here for, tasks that would result in a lot of bloodshed and death. Even then, the best killers and warriors that Max had were stationed in the manor. If anyone wanted to get in, then they needed to be prepared to give their life before they could step in without permission.
Meanwhile, all of this was going on, the person in question that everyone was praying and fearing for was already setting several of his plans into motion, plans that had changed a lot of things in the coming future. And mostly, Austin was there, deep within the centre of the war council, already making his next moves.
.......
One Week Earlier:
The Day Austin Fell Asleep:
Austin POV:
’Man... I feel hella guilty.’
Looking down at the scene of my family in tears, and the chaos all around, it would be a lie to say that I wasn’t feeling guilty at all. In fact, it was pricking my consciousness, but sadly, this is something I have to do, especially now that things have taken a turn for the worse since I have seemingly lost the protection that was around me.
Right now, I am floating up above in the sky, right within the academy. I could sense all the problems I am causing, and it was actually helping with my divinity, but not much with my mental scope. Anyhow, taking it all away, there are several reasons why I took the action to fall "unconscious."
One being towards the fact that after using and displaying such power, I need to show the consequences of those actions. If I came out all spring and clean, that would only cause bigger issues. There needs to be consequences, and technically, there is. The stone I used from the Dragon God’s reward even says the fact that I will be heavily affected by it if I ever use it, so I need to keep up appearances with this.
The other fact is to disappear for some time. Right now, I need to move with contracts and problems, and without having to show up to anyone, things I need to do. Moreover, with everything going to hell like this, I also need some time to think and reevaluate some of my actions, too. Even with everything I know and set up, I got stabbed with things I didn’t expect, which means I was still living at a certain level of being arrogant and in control too, which ain’t good.
Though above all that, it was also time for Rex to make his move inside the war council, and this gives me the perfect opportunity to take some actions that will be of value. This is the perfect time. Right now, the entire war council is shaken up. Everything is chaos and problems, and the best time to take advantage of something is during the chaos.
My eyes sparkled at that idea. Right now, I need a place to settle down and think and make my next move, and of course, I have several places to lie down like that too. Though even then, there are several people I need to let know that I am fine. If not, a lot of issues will arise if the full force of two of the supreme churches comes marching down to heal me.
I can already see the chaos that will rise from that, so I didn’t hesitate a second before I informed the important ones that can keep a secret that I am fine and that everything is a ruse, which calmed all of them down. And now it’s time to go and meet a source in person.
Thus, I easily moved through the spatial layer, quickly cutting through several layers as I arrived in the upper part of the city, quickly and quite easily moving through the big city of the Darknight headquarters. To me, the system was like thin paper, which I easily broke through, soon appearing in a room, apparently behind Ralph, hidden away.
"Don’t you worry, Austin! I shall take revenge for you. We shall all make sure everyone involved in this shall pay!"
The dude was practically oozing out with self-righteousness and anger, while beside him was Athena, too, pretty shaken up as she was being held by Ralph, trying to comfort her.
"I want to go see him!"
Athena demanded, to which Ralph had quite the troubled expression as he could only mutter.
"Athena..."
Their worry was all too real, and I gotta say it was really touching, and I felt my mind prick again to just stand by and keep watching, so I quickly dispelled my cloaking and coughed.
"Cough..."
The moment I did so, the two of them went into action, seemingly getting ready to attack. The instant they saw my face and felt my aura, not to mention the genuine key I was holding, which they gave me, instantly, the situation was flipped again.
"Austin, how ar—Ah!"
Ralph walked up to me, asking, while opening up for a hug, before which Athena blasted through him, pushing him away with force, then sent him flying, while she moved quicker than her own Origin level as she quickly came up to me and hugged me tight against her bosom while patting my hair.
"Austin, you are alright!"
Her voice was completely relieved as she held me tight against her chest, rubbing my hair. She kept holding me like that for some time, as I could sense Ralph on the floor, fully floored. Poor dude got dumped faster than he could blink, as Athena kept holding me, her hand shaking a bit, to which I slowly patted her back.
"It’s okay, I am okay."
I spoke, and even then, it took some time for Athena to get over her shock and happiness. She kept holding me for close to five minutes, after which she slowly let go, holding my head so I was bending down a bit. She looked through my face and all over me, making sure that I was alright.
"You are okay, right?"
"Yes, I am okay."
I said with a smile, to which Athena finally let go after placing a light kiss on my forehead. Even then, she didn’t let me fully go. She was still holding me by the hand to make sure I wasn’t running away anytime soon.
’The trauma she bears is high.’
I kept that thought to myself as I looked at Ralph looking at me with a smile, all well and good now as he came and patted me on the shoulder to the side, Athena wasn’t taking hostage.
"It’s good to see you so well, very good."
Ralph’s voice was calm and filled with emotion, to which I also smiled.
