The dragon's harem

Chapter 1507: A Show of Power

Chapter 1507: A Show of Power

“We’re out of the storm. Let’s land.”

Getting out of Tiamat’s domain, they were now flying into Lola’s land, the Star Mountain. Arad wanted to fly up the rainbow mountain in the sky directly, but Denki advised him against that. It would be faster, better, and safer to land on the common land and then take a rainbow pillar up.

The reason was simple: the rainbow mountain could be best described as a wasp nest. If anyone approached from the sky, all of the dragons there would fly out and attack in a swarm.

As they approached the ground, they could see countless dragons of all ages flying close to the ground, some crawling into their lairs, and many just going through their daily life. Like humans, they had massive markets, shops, and buildings.

While the dragons lived in caves, the buildings they made were carved out of solid stone, stuck to the side of the mountain like a piece of art.

Many of those dragons looked up, seeing Arad and everyone approaching the ground. But almost all of them looked confused, their eyes glued to Gamond.

Judging by her size, she should have an oppressive aura around her, one that no dragon would mistake, the heavy pressure of a great wyrm. But, they couldn’t feel anything. In fact, some thought that Arad and everyone with him were an illusion, because they could sense no magic from them.

Except for one, a faint, weak lightning aura of a young adult. That led many of the dragons to frown, wondering why the young one was using such an illusion.

But then, Gamond landed, shaking the ground, and the dragons knew she wasn’t an illusion.

Denki quickly noticed the strange faces the dragons were giving them, and she turned around, “Don’t hide your magic. There are no humans around to harm, and it’ll be weird for the dragons if they can’t sense you.”

Gamond glared back at the dragons staring at her, “I see, it was the same back there as well.”

She was the first to release her magic, and all hell broke loose. The dragons freaked out, all jumping back.

Cold, sharp, deadly, violent, heavy, and merciless, that’s how Gamond’s magic felt, and the dragons knew she wasn’t a mere Great Wyrm, but something far above that.

An Elder, a dragon that surpassed the twilight, that’s how the dragons called them here. A dragon would usually remain in a suspended animation state for centuries before waking up as an Elder Dragon, so the older dragons here tried to remember if they knew Gamond or saw her before when she was a Great Wyrm.

But their thoughts were put to a halt when a harrowing presence shook them. Cold and hot, chaotic, unstable, and blessed by the blood of the goddess, fire and ice, a magic that could never decide what it wants to be.

Kory’s second head emerged, and she allowed her magic to rampage, a two-headed drakaina, as rare as the Elder dragons, if not rarer.

Zul released her magic next, and it gave the dragons a chance to breathe. Her magic was weaker than what one would expect from a Mature Drakaina, a clear sign that she is recovering from something. Probably one of the Elder Drakaina’s guards.

Before Claug could even release her magic, many had already recognized her. Her fame surpassed her, reaching even the Star Mountain. Here, she was known as the Witch Drakaina, who spies on humans for fun, concocts poisons and medicines, and is a really, really, spiteful and petty drakaina.

As her magic released, all dragons almost nodded at the same time, yes, she was Claug of the Crypt forest.

In the back was someone all dragons here knew; they couldn’t even mistake her if they wanted. The Princess of the Chromatic Dragons, Balina the pink drakaina. She released her magic, and all the dragon flapped their wings, greeting her.

Then, it was nothing, darkness, a still coldness that permeated through everything, oppressive, inevitable, and heavy, unimaginably heavy. The dragons didn’t notice Arad; he noticed them, and they didn’t like it.

He was an adult dragon; there was no mistake about that. But his magic, his presence, was far heavier than even Gamond behind him. And what shocked the dragons more was that every drakaina that appeared here had a whisp of his magic on them, marking them as his own.

Hold up, the princess, the infamous Claug, and an Elder drakaina, all at once? No, wait, that two-headed drakaina is clearly the Elder Drakaina’s daughter, but not Arad’s. He snatched the Elder drakaina from another dragon?

But then, Eris jumped down from Arad’s head and landed on the ground. She stretched her arms and looked around. “You too, dragons are massive, if they can’t sense your magic, they might step on you by mistake, or even cast something in your direction.”

Eris looked at Denki for a second and sighed, “Fine, but I’m not a drakaina. I doubt they’ll feel anything besides a bit of magic.”

But she was wrong, because all of the dragon’s attention was immediately pulled toward her. They could feel it, the heat, the arid wind, and the smell of blood.

The sky flashed purple, painting the sky blood red as the dragons smelled their blood. The weaker dragons covered their heads with their wings, and the stronger ones took a step back.

This tiny woman wasn’t just a half-drakaina with enough power to rival an ancient drakaina, but she also had the immense bloodlust of a vampire and the spark of divinity of a demigoddess.

What scared the older dragons more was that she had Arad’s magic and scent on her.

Who is this dragon? Where did he come from, and what does he want to do here in the Star Mountain? You can’t arrive with an Elder Drakaina, the princess, Claug, a two-headed drakaina, and a demigoddess and expect the dragons to think you’ve just come here as a tourist.

It costs an arm and a leg, a mountain of gold, but many of the other races can visit the Star Mountain as tourists. In fact, there was only one person banned from coming here, Alcott, the Dragon Slayer.

Last time he was here, he caused a massacre, so he is the last thing the Chromatic Dragons want here in their land.

But then, Alcott jumped from Arad’s back and landed beside Eris, “Finally, land. Nothing beats it, right?” He looked around, and the dragons were no more.

Adult dragons, ancient, and even the wyrms, they all ran away before Alcott could even land. He didn’t need to emit an aura for the dragons to notice him; their eyes were peeled all the time, looking for him everywhere. To them, he was the monster beneath their beds, always hungry for blood.

A second later, twenty Great Wyrms flew down from the flying rainbow mountain, “Dragon Slayer, I’m sure you know you aren’t allowed here anymore!” A dragon roared, and Alcott looked up.

“What! I can’t hear you! Come down here so we can talk.” Alcott waved his arm at the dragons who flew several kilometers in the sky, afraid to get close enough to the ground where he stood.
