He knelt down sincerely, discreetly tugging at Chi Buzi’s sleeve to signal him to present the command token. Although Chi Buzi was a Purple Mansion Realm cultivator of great status, he too dropped to his knees without hesitation, his expression calm and respectful.

“This humble cultivator has successively offered two demonic creatures in sacrifice to exchange for immortal merits as resources for my cultivation. Everything is recorded within this command token. I humbly ask for your guidance, my lord.”

Immediately, an immortal soldier descended from the platform, received the command token from Chi Buzi, and delivered it to Lu Jiangxian, who had manifested as Zhen’gao. “My lord, within it are six hundred and forty-one strands of immortal merit.”

Zhen’gao nodded slightly, glanced at the two of them, and said, “Then seek the Intercalary Position.”

Dangjiang could no longer quite understand what was being said, and even Chi Buzi hesitated. His Azure Pond Sect Pristine Water Dao lineage was formidable enough to suppress other cultivators, but precisely because it originated from Pristine Water, his understanding of the Golden Core was surprisingly shallow. Both the Surplus Position and Intercalary Position were utterly obscure and beyond reach for ordinary cultivators. Even direct disciples of the Purple Mansion Realm only knew of their existence, while the Golden Core Dao lineages of the three sects and seven gates possessed no cultivation art or scripture that could explicitly instruct one on how to attain either the Surplus or Intercalary Position.

Chi Buzi finally understood. The Chi Family already possessed Heavy Murk and Spring’s Echo; only Clear Dusk Rain had come from the Azure Pond Sect’s archive. Suspicious by nature, he immediately blamed Pristine Water in his heart and said softly, “Now… I beseech you, my lord, to show me the path through this confusion!”

Zhen’gao rubbed the command token in his hand, and its light instantly dimmed. Dangjiang looked on in distress, but Chi Buzi remained utterly unconcerned, waiting respectfully as Zhen’gao spoke, “There exists a divine ability called Morning Cold Rain in the Mansion Water lineage. Do you know of it?”

Zhen’gao spoke softly, “If you are to attain divine ability, you should cultivate this Dao.”

Chi Buzi was slightly stunned, unease rising in his heart. After all, if a Purple Mansion Realm cultivator attained the wrong divine ability, it would mean certain stagnation. The Purple Mansion Realm cultivators in Jiangnan would only use their final divine ability to patch their Dao, and even then, they would calculate endlessly to avoid any conflict among their powers. It was no simple matter.
