The Strongest War God

Chapter 2012 The Mysterious Lair

Chapter 2012: The Mysterious Lair Chapter 2012: The Mysterious Lair Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Facing off against a level eight transcendent was nothing short of a death wish.

On the surface, it seemed like just one level apart.

But in reality, their power was worlds apart.

They didn’t stand a chance!

“Third Junior Brother, where are the thousand disciples you brought with you?” the first elder asked with a frown.

“Dead!” “What?!” The great elder was furious.

“All 1,000 disciples of my Dlael Spiritual Sect died here?!

What exactly happened?” “I… I don’t know!” The third elder went numb, bloodied and on the verge of tears.

He had no idea who he’d provoked but had nearly gotten himself killed.

A thousand disciples and two outer sect elders had perished here.

He was in serious trouble.

“I’ll leave you to sort this out.” The great elder said coldly as he led him away.

“You’d better explain this to the sect master yourself.

And be sure to clarify the situation with the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect.

Otherwise…” He left the rest unsaid.

The third elder’s face turned pale—he knew the consequences.  A thousand disciples dead, and the responsibility was crushing.  And what about the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect?  That would need a clear explanation.  Otherwise, he might have to pay with his life to give the Dlael Spiritual Sect the accountability it demanded.

Meanwhile, Braydon Neal and Icarus Jacome were thrilled as they tallied up the loot.  The underground buildings were fully intact, and the treasures left inside were abundant.

They had certainly struck it rich this time—and even managed to dupe the Dlael Spiritual Sect.  As long as the sect suffered, Braydon and Icarus were pleased.

But Braydon’s purpose here went beyond just scamming the Dlael Spiritual Sect or seeking minor gains.  He was after something in the mystic realm’s core.

Upon entering, Braydon became almost certain: this mystic realm was definitely the lair of the founder of the third universe, comparable to the Heavenly Court, lying dormant over the ages.

“You really want to venture into the inner regions?” Icarus asked tentatively.

“Core!” Braydon replied, spitting the word out.

Icarus was shocked.

“Only top-tier supreme experts venture into the core.

If we go in there, it’s basically suicide!” It was no wonder Icarus was nervous.  Only high-level beings dared to enter the core, and if they obtained anything, they would have to contend with other high-level creatures.

Against such a powerful expert, they faced certain death.

Braydon chuckled.

“Let’s just take a look.

If we get something, great.

If not, we’ll let it go.” “I feel like you’re just bluffing me.” Icarus knew Braydon’s personality too well—he was bound to go to the core for the strongest inheritance.  But the two were in this together now; they’d have to move forward or retreat as one.

Little did they know that as they ventured deeper, the Dlael Spiritual Sect was on the brink of madness.  Thousands of inner disciples were dead, and tensions with the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect were mounting.  If they didn’t get to the bottom of this, war between the two sects was inevitable.

As these two forces hurtled toward conflict, the real spoils would go to outsiders.

The sect master and elders of the Dlael Spiritual Sect had gathered to discuss the catastrophe.  The third elder remained silent, knowing he was responsible.  How to appease the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect’s anger now depended on the sect’s decision.

“Have we identified who’s behind this?” the sect master asked, hands clasped behind his back.

“No clues, Sect Master.” “Could it be an inside job?” the great elder suggested, shaking his head.

“Hmph, Icarus is only level three.

How could he possibly wipe out thousands of our disciples?

There must be a high-level creature pulling the strings here.” The sect master was convinced that someone was targeting their Dlael Spiritual Sect—and it wasn’t a weak foe.

If they couldn’t identify the culprit, there would be no way to appease the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect.

“Summon the leader of the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect,” the sect master sighed.

“The Dlael Spiritual Sect will explore the Omnidirectional Stone Array alongside them.” “What?” “Sect Master?” “Only our sect knows the Omnidirectional Stone Array’s location, and the entry method remains with us.

There’s no need to involve the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect!” Many elders protested.  Their reasoning was simple—the Omnidirectional Stone Array’s riches should belong to the Dlael Spiritual Sect alone.

Why share what rightfully belonged to them?

“Do any of you have a way to calm the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect’s anger?” the sect master asked calmly.

“Will you appease them by offering up the third elder’s life?

Besides, the Omnidirectional Stone Array is extremely treacherous.

Even our old sect master could die there.

To explore it fully, many high-level transcedents will be needed—and with too many losses, our sect could face overthrow.” The Omnidirectional Stone Array’s rewards were too great for the Dlael Spiritual Sect to hoard alone.  Seeking an ally wasn’t a bad idea, and bringing in the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect might also soothe their anger.

He was confident that the other sect wouldn’t risk the interests of its entire order for a single profligate son.

Soon, word of this reached the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect, which quickly responded: they would ally with the Dlael Spiritual Sect, but demanded the third elder’s life.

Naturally, the Dlael Spiritual Sect wasn’t agreeable to this.

Within half a day, the three leaders of the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect arrived with four protectors and eight elders, all high-level transcendents, at the Dlael Spiritual Sect’s territory.

The higher-ups of the Dlael Spiritual Sect came out to greet them.

“Sect Master Signe Gaul, long time no see!” Sect Master Ingvar Zabala greeted him warmly.

“Hmph!” Signe snorted coldly, his gaze on the third elder filled with killing intent.

“If you want to cooperate, show some sincerity.” “Sect Master Signe, calm yourself.

We are investigating the matter and will have answers soon.

For now, the priority is the Omnidirectional Stone Array.” With that, Ingvar raised his hand, revealing a broken stone tablet, about half a meter tall, resting weightlessly in his palm.

The picture on it depicted an elderly man with white hair, bearing an ancient sword and kneeling before the masses.  Although incomplete, the path embedded in the image astonished Signe.

“The path to the tenth level?” The discovery shocked him.  His son’s death seemed unimportant compared to this opportunity.  After all, he had more than one son, but this was his only path to level ten.

“Please.” Ingvar put the tablet away with a smile.

“Sect Master Signe, come inside.” Such matters were best discussed privately.  The leaders of the White Lotus Sacred Cloud Sect entered the hall, each with a solemn expression.

“There’s definitely a complete level-ten inheritance within the stone array,” Ingvar stated bluntly.

“But this place likely belongs to a level-ten being and is filled with killing arrays.

Even incomplete, these arrays can kill level-nine beings.”
