Chapter 153 - 18
Chapter 153: Chapter 18
The atmosphere around the decimated auditorium had reached a point of absolute saturation.
The presence of the fifteen-meter emerald dragon was a weight that crushed the lungs of everyone present, yet Seijirou stood in the center of the wreckage, seemingly weightless.
For him, this Oversoul or whatnot doesn’t matter. A spec dust suddenly multiplying means absolutely nothing to him.
“Everyone, back off,” Seijirou commanded, his voice slicing through the roar of the wind. “Do not interfere.”
“…are you sure?” Sosuke asked. “I’m strong, I can offer help.”
“As do I.” Said Hari.
Seijirou nodded, without even looking back at them.
Sosuke and Hari stared at each other eventually retreated. While of to the side, Haruka and Suzune were already on the distance, quickly moving to safety after Seijirou said to not interfere.
And not, it wasn’t because they were afraid or anything, they just have blind trust and confidence in Seijirou.
Seijirou focused his attention towards Jun, and immediately, his pale white Ki began to vibrate, intensifying until it transitioned into a blinding, resonant gold.
His Origin: The Seeker had been activated, and reached its peak.
To Seijirou, at this moment, the world was no longer made of matter, but of pathways and structural flaws he can exploit.
He motioned at the dragon, provoking him, “Come on.”
The dragon, Jun, let out a piercing shriek and dove from the sky like a falling mountain.
Seijirou didn’t flinch as his Origin sought the exact point of kinetic instability in the dragon’s dive.
Without hesitation, he lunged, driving a singular golden punch into the air, his ki covering his fist.
And when his fist met the dragon’s scaled head, a massive gust of wind erupted, the shockwave literally stripping the remaining roof off the Saint Shinomiya building.
Sosuke felt physical pain seeing that. It seems news reporters have plenty of news to report tomorrow.
He can already imagine the headlines.
[Saint Shinomiya Highschool, destroyed after a gas leak caused a massive explosion]
Jun roared in agony as the impact rippled through his massive form.
How? How is this possible!? He is a dragon! The strongest creatures in the world, with some even boasting capabilities of matching that of a god!
How was he harmed by a mere fist of a man!?
But despite his thoughts and pain, Seijirou didn’t let up as he used the momentum to jump directly onto the dragon’s snout.
“You said you’d kill me?” Seijirou mocked, his eyes glowing with golden fire. “Come on. I’m right here.”
Enraged, Jun shook his head violently, flinging Seijirou away like a troublesome insect.
Seijirou remained calm despite falling, his ki enveloping him.
“Die you bastard!” The dragon opened his maw, as a swirling vortex of orange energy gathering between his fangs before it unleashed a searing fire blast.
“You’re far from being able to threaten me,” with that said, Seijirou compressed his Ki into a dense orb in his palm and fired.
From that, countless homing blasts of Ki erupted from the sphere, piercing through the dragon’s flames and seeking out Jun’s face in a series of staccato explosions.
Jun roared in pain, with some of his green scales peeling off, causing him to bleed, his exposed flesh being severely burnt.
Before he crashed, Seijirou channeled Ki into his feet, creating a cushion of air to slow his descent, landing with cat-like grace among the rubble.
“It seems despite having the appearance of a dragon, you aren’t as strong as one,” Seijirou remarked, his voice carrying through the ruins. “Are you sure you contracted a dragon and not a snake?”
Jun’s jade eyes turned a murderous red. “You still dare mock me!? You think I’m afraid of you!?”
He spiraled upward, hovering high above the school, and aimed a wide-range fire blast intended to incinerate the entire building and everyone in it.
Seijirou frowned, sensing trouble.
“Die with the rest of this trash!” Jun bellowed.
The dragon fired, but Seijirou met the inferno with a concentrated pillar of golden Ki.
The two forces collided in the sky, a spectacular struggle of orange and gold that illuminated the city for miles.
Slowly, the golden pillar began to widen, overpowering the dragon’s breath and shooting straight for his throat.
Jun dodged at the last second, the blast missing his jaw, but Seijirou’s Ki was sentient in its search.
The beam curved in mid-air, performing a sharp U-turn and slamming into the back of Jun’s head as the dragon plummeted, nearly crashing into the school grounds.
“Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT!” Jun’s voice was a chaotic mix of human and beast. “I’ll burn my lifespan if I have to! I’ll reduce you to ashes!”
He began to gather a final, world-ending charge of energy, the air around him turning into a vacuum as he once again flew up, intending to blow everything to ashes.
Seijirou moved to intercept, sensing that this attack is extremely dangerous and needs to be stopp.
But at that moment, a sudden, resonant authority filled voice echoed throughout the air.
“Dragon, as the keeper of Order, I declare you guilty!”
Rindou’s voice boomed from above as a massive blue field of logic descended, trapping Jun.
The dragon suddenly felt his spiritual limbs grow heavy, his power suppressed to absolute limits by the conceptual weight of Rindou’s Origin.
Gravity tripled around him, and his powers were weakened, but he was still preparing to fire his final attack.
Just then, Rindou dropped from the sky, landing beside Seijirou with her shinai held in a perfect stance, her blue Ki burning bright.
She smiled at Seijirou.
“Fox fire!”
Another voice followed, and after that, dozens of foxes made of ethereal blue spirit-flame manifested in the air, biting into Jun’s emerald scales and searing his hide.
Just then, Kasumi, in her nine-tailed white fox form, landed on Seijirou’s other side, her tails lashing with dangerous intent.
She tilted her head, glancing at Seijirou and furrowed her brows, observing him up and down.
“…do you need something?” Asked Seijirou, staring at her in confusion.
“You are Rindou-chan’s boyfriend?” Asked Kasumi.
“…yes, why?”
“Hm, not bad. At least she got taste in men.” She nodded to herself, “Very well, you can have her every weekend, but I get to have her everyday weekdays. On special occasion, I can allow you to intrude in our private time, but you aren’t allowed to kiss me.”
“…huh?”
“Tsk. Fine, you can kiss me, but no tongue.”
“…huh?”
Kasumi glared at him, “Fine, I can tolerate tongues. But absolutely, and I mean, absolutely, you must not go further than that. That’s my bottom line.”
“…okay?” Seijirou turned towards Rindou, looking absolutely confused.
Rindou twirled her finger at her ear, cringing as she motioned at Kasumi.
“Then, I believe we have an accord.” Kasumi nodded, sighing in relief. “You are a very good haggler, Kageyama Seijirou.”
Just then, Jun, struggling against the seal of Order, immediately released his fire blast, but it was a flickering shadow of its former self.
The three immediately turned serious and faced the attack.
Seijirou took a step forward, condensed a ball of ki and countered it effortlessly with a golden ki blast, holding the dragon’s fire in a stalemate.
“Attack him now!” Seijirou ordered.
It was at that moment that Suzune stepped forward, a dark purple spirit energy flickering out of her body, engulfing the entire school, causing them to struggle just from breathing.
Everyone turned towards her as she walked slowly, and in her hand, a blood-red spear materialized, dripping with a terrifying, ancient malice.
And for a fleeting second, the space behind her warped, showing a dark gothic castle overrun by specters, with a purple-haired woman standing as their grim sovereign.
It was only for a moment, but that woman gives off the feeling of death and killing that can make one suffocate.
Kasumi’s animalistic instincts screamed in danger as she looked at Suzune’s spear and felt a deep, instinctive shiver of fear and wariness.
This was a weapon that tasted of the grave of countless, and the souls of the damned.
“Seijirou, let me handle that,” Suzune smiled, her voice was sweet but carrying a razor’s edge.
Seijirou turned towards her and nodded.
Suzune smiled as she gripped the spear and, with all her strength, threw it with so much force it pierce through the sound barrier.
The spear seems like it didn’t fly, but deleted the distance between her and the dragon.
The red spear hit Jun squarely in the chest, burying its tip deep into his scales as he onxe again screamed in pain.
“Spread.” Suzune declared, clenching her fist.
In that instant, cruel barbs sprouted from the spearhead inside his body, locking it in place and drinking his essence.
The agonizing pain was too much as Jun’s fire blast sputtered and died.
Seijirou’s golden Ki, no longer held back, surged forward and hit the dragon in a direct, massive explosion that engulfed the emerald beast in a pillar of golden light.
As the explosion settled, Jun was back in his human form, the spear still stuck on his chest.
He looked like a burnt corpse, still bleeding, his body twitching from pain, but was too weak to move.
“Get over here!” Suzune motioned, and the spear flew back into her hand, bringing along the body of Jun.
“Cough, cough,” Jun coughed, dripping the spear with even more blood.
Suzune simply stared, as if she was accustomed to such sight. And that wasn’t far from the truth, after all, the way to get her Karyoku was simply insane.
Without hesitation, she yanked the spear, tearing away parts of Jun’s flesh, creating a massive hole on his chest.
“Is he… Dead?”
No one knew who asked, but before someone could answer, a massive phantom image of a dragon appeared, startling everyone.
“Enough, child.” the dragon spoke, “my contractor already lost.”
Everyone’s eyes widened in shock.
The contracted spirit… They can talk!?
