Chapter 2692 Opening Elder Nui's Ring
Chapter 2692 Opening Elder Nui's Ring
The last item was merely an identity token belonging to the disciple who had owned the bracelet. The name inscribed on it was unremarkable, and Lin Mu didn't even bother remembering it before tossing it into his ring.
Meng Bai, meanwhile, was still staring at the massive pile of Immortal Stones in awe.
"This is a lot… How much do you think all the storage tools combined will have?" he wondered aloud.
Lin Mu smirked. "Let's find out."
He unlocked the other bracelet as well as the two rings of the Inner Court disciples, pouring out their contents onto the floor.
Meng Bai watched wide-eyed as piles upon piles of Immortal Stones sprawled across the ground without a care. Usually, people would handle such treasures with caution, placing them on tables or neatly arranging them, but Lin Mu treated them as if they were mere sacks of potatoes.
An hour later, Lin Mu was done with all the Inner Court disciples' storage tools and moved onto the main course—Elder Nui's personal Spatial Storage ring.
"This is a bit complex," Lin Mu muttered as he assessed the ring.
It was a Mid Grade Spatial Storage Ring, but the security on it was much stronger. This was expected since it belonged to an elder, and they wouldn't want it to be easily stolen.
It took Lin Mu longer to sort out the restrictions, and two hours passed in the blink of an eye while Meng Bai counted the rest of the spoils.
He tallied approximately seven thousand Low Grade Immortal Stones, five hundred and thirty Mid Grade Immortal Stones, and one hundred and sixteen High Grade Immortal Stones. Along with this, there were a hundred different alchemical pills and several boxes full of herbs. All the Inner Court disciples carried the same booklet containing their signature technique, though one of them also possessed a weapon manual.
"Cleaving River Axe Style," Meng Bai read aloud. "This must be one of their main weapon skills."
He had never seen it used before, but he knew the sect was renowned for its axe techniques. The River Bending Axe Sect primarily specialized in axes, though some disciples also used whips, halberds, and polearms.
Meng Bai opened the booklet and tried to read it, but it all went over his head.
"This is too much for me," he admitted, feeling dizzy from the sheer amount of information within.
While he could understand the words, the instructions seemed more like cryptic riddles. Cultivation techniques and Qi skills were rarely written in a straightforward manner. This was partly due to their complexity and partly as a security measure to prevent unauthorized learning.
Even if someone stole the manuals, they wouldn't be able to decipher them without guidance from experienced practitioners. This was why disciples required elders to mentor them.
Without annotations or guiding notes, the manual was as useless to him as ancient texts would be to an uneducated farmer.
Setting the booklet aside, Meng Bai took a deep breath and looked toward Lin Mu, who was finishing up his work.
"And done," Lin Mu announced as the ring's encryption broke.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
A wave of items poured out of the ring, more than three times the combined amount of the previous four storage tools.
"He sure had a lot of stuff," Lin Mu remarked, finding this more befitting an elder of an Immortal Sect.
"This is over ten thousand Immortal Stones!" Meng Bai gasped. "And most of them are Mid Grade Immortal Stones!"
Unlike the Inner Court disciples, the elders had significantly more wealth, and this was clearly reflected here. Elders wouldn't bother carrying large amounts of Low Grade Immortal Stones, only keeping a nominal amount for daily use. The majority of their wealth was stored in Mid Grade Immortal Stones, with a considerable number of High Grade Immortal Stones as well.
Of course, there were no Peak Grade Immortal Stones—those were strategic resources reserved for the sect's highest ranks.
Lin Mu reckoned that only the High Elders would carry a few, with the Patriarch possessing the most.
"Let's count them!" Meng Bai said eagerly.
With his expression, it looked as if he might develop the same obsession as wealthy merchants who loved counting their riches.
It took them a few minutes to tally it all. The final count came to around twelve thousand Mid Grade Immortal Stones and roughly a thousand High Grade Immortal Stones. The pills and herbs that the elder carried were of noticeably higher quality, though he still kept some common pills for daily use.
The most valuable finds, however, were the booklets.
"This should be the complete form of the River Bending Immortal Technique," Lin Mu said as he flipped through a thick booklet, confirming his suspicion. "This one allows cultivation up to the Seventh Tribulation Stage of the Immortal Realm."
But that wasn't the only notable discovery. Lin Mu also found three Qi skills and two auxiliary techniques among the collection.
The auxiliary techniques were both movement skills: the Surging River Footwork Technique and the Ripple-less Footwork Technique.
Among the Qi skills, the first was the River Cleaving Axe Technique, which Meng Bai had seen earlier. The second was the Twin Axe Fall Palm Technique.
These four booklets were undoubtedly the core techniques of the River Bending Axe Sect, but the last booklet stood out.
"This one doesn't have the sect's crest on it," Meng Bai observed.
"Yeah… This doesn't belong to them," Lin Mu replied, narrowing his eyes.
He read the title aloud: "Spectral Phantasm Strike."
Unlike the others, this booklet contained no indication of its creator or affiliated organization. It was an anomaly among the otherwise sect-specific techniques.
Meng Bai frowned. "Then where did it come from?"
"That," Lin Mu said, "is something we'll have to find out."
He flipped open the booklet and began reading it. It had about 150 pages but Lin Mu was done in just five minutes. And after he was done he couldn't help but smile.
"This is a good find."
