Chapter 3459: Lin Mu’s Anger
Chapter 3459: Lin Mu’s Anger
The assassin girl smiled sweetly, the same way she had in the ring. "Big brother, we meet again."
"You were behind this?" Meng Bai asked.
She tilted her head. "Of course. I did not forget how you embarrassed me. My Master punished me a lot for failing the mission."
She pulled out a thin black dagger and placed it gently against his neck.
"Do not move," she said softly. "It will hurt less."
Meng Bai swallowed. "You will not escape."
She laughed quietly. "I do not need to. I only need your head."
The dagger moved closer.
SHUA SHUA
Just as it was about to cut, two flashes shot through the air like silver lightning.
The little girl’s eyes widened.
Both her arms vanished in the next instant.
Blood sprayed.
She stared at the empty space where her arms had been.
Then she screamed.
"Aaaah!"
Before the others could react, two more flashes pierced their chests.
They looked down in shock, seeing holes where their hearts should be.
THUD THUD
They collapsed without a sound.
Two sharp hisses filled the air.
White and black figures appeared on Meng Bai’s shoulders.
Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang coiled around him protectively, their eyes burning with fury.
The boatmen froze.
Xiao Yang flicked his tail as a wave of pure Yang Qi tore through the air.
One man’s head rolled into the lake.
The other dropped his oar and fell to his knees, trembling.
Meng Bai felt his strength slowly returning as the poison’s effect weakened under the qi of Xiao Yin.
He looked at the screaming assassin girl on the deck, blood pooling around her.
Xiao Yin hissed, "Master said we watch. We watch well."
Meng Bai exhaled shakily.
He was alive.
And this night was far from over.
Xiao Yin coiled gently around Meng Bai’s shoulders, her black scales faintly glowing as she released a soft, cleansing hiss. A thin black mist seeped from her body and flowed into Meng Bai’s skin, following the poisoned pathways inside him.
Meng Bai closed his eyes and focused.
At first, his meridians still felt heavy, like they were filled with thick sludge. But slowly, warmth spread through him. His Qi began to circulate smoothly again, washing away the last traces of poison.
He sucked in a sharp breath.
Then another.
Finally, he exhaled deeply.
"I... I’m fine now," Meng Bai said, though his voice still trembled slightly.
His heart was still pounding wildly. The memory of the dagger at his throat had not faded at all. Just thinking about how close he had been to dying made his back grow cold with sweat.
If Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang had not been watching him...
He did not even want to imagine it.
Xiao Yin tilted her head slightly. "You are safe now."
Meng Bai nodded, then slowly looked down.
Xiao Ling, or rather the assassin who had worn the white robed girl’s face, was writhing on the deck. Blood had already soaked most of the wooden floor. Her screams had turned hoarse, her face pale and twisted with pain.
Meng Bai clenched his fists.
Xiao Yang’s eyes glowed with killing intent. "Should I finish her?"
His tail twitched, already eager.
Meng Bai shook his head quickly. "No. Stop."
Xiao Yang paused.
"My master will want answers," Meng Bai said. "She’s part of something bigger. Killing her now will only cut the thread before we can trace it."
Xiao Yang clicked his tongue in annoyance but nodded. "Fine. But she will not escape."
Xiao Yin added calmly, "I have already informed Master."
Meng Bai looked up sharply. "You already did?"
Xiao Yin nodded.
HUALA
And as if on cue, a terrifying wave of energy surged through the night sky.
It came from the direction of the banquet hall.
The pulse rolled across the city like a giant invisible tide.
Every cultivator felt it.
Some dropped their cups.
Some staggered.
Some weaker ones nearly collapsed to their knees.
Beasts in the city howled in fear. Birds scattered into the sky. Even the lake under their boat rippled violently.
Meng Bai’s eyes widened.
"That’s... Master."
His heart clenched, but not from fear. From fury.
Back at the banquet hall, most of the guests had already left. Only some of the highest ranking elders, sect leaders, and important figures were still present, talking quietly while servants cleared the tables.
Lin Mu was standing near the center, speaking with two elders about cultivation paths.
Then Xiao Yin’s message reached him.
His words froze in his throat.
His eyes went blank for a split second.
The elder in front of him frowned. "Daoist Lin Mu? Is something wrong?"
Lin Mu did not answer.
His aura suddenly surged.
BOOM!
Tables flipped. Plates shattered. Leftover food and wine flew into the air and smashed against walls.
Several elders stood up in shock.
The Patriarch of the Martial Fist King Sect narrowed his eyes. "What is this?"
Before anyone could stop him, Lin Mu threw his head back and roared.
"WHO DARESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!"
His voice tore through the banquet hall like thunder, then continued across the city, echoing between buildings and mountains.
Cattaleya, who had been eating calmly, stopped mid bite.
Her eyes sharpened instantly.
Elyon appeared beside her like a shadow. "Something happened."
"Meng Bai," Cattaleya said without hesitation.
"Assassins," Lin Mu growled, his eyes burning like molten gold.
Then he vanished.
Not a trace left behind.
A fiery streak shot into the sky right after him.
Little Shrubby had transformed into his blazing form, chasing after Lin Mu like a comet.
Elyon’s eyes darkened. "If one group moved, there will be others."
He faded into the shadows, already searching.
Cattaleya cracked her neck, veins bulging slightly. "They picked the wrong night."
She turned to the stunned elders and Patriarch.
"Someone tried to kill Meng Bai," she said simply.
Then she jumped.
BOOM!
The floor exploded where she stood, and her figure tore through the roof before rising in the air, chasing after Lin Mu.
The hall fell silent.
WHOOSH
Then erupted in fury.
