Chapter 1110 - 1110: Underground auction (3)
The items that came up to auction after the Cerberus Fang also caused fierce fighting among the six factions.
All of them knew the value of these items, so of course they weren’t willing to hand them over to another faction that easily.
But the funny thing was that these items were still evenly distributed in a way.
Even though they tried to stop the other factions from getting these items, they really couldn’t do much since they were usually equal in power.
If one of them spent money on one item, they just wouldn’t have money to spend on another item. It wasn’t that they were out of money, it was just that they wanted to save the money for the big items that would come at the end.
So they had no choice but to concede these items to the ones that hadn’t spent money to buy anything yet.
The six factions really balanced each other out.
That just went to show how tense and tight the conflict between them was that none of them were able to take the upper hand. It showed that the Kalos Empire really was just one step away from collapsing in on itself with the chaotic internal situation.
It really seemed like they were just waiting for the straw that broke the camel’s hump.
And this auction was actually pushing them closer.
This was part of the plan to take down these six factions and the Kalos Empire as a whole.
After the auction progressed for a while, the final few items came up for sale.
These were items that were far beyond any items that had been sold previously.
That was because these were S Rank items that came from S Rank Monsters.
That meant that all of these items were comparable that came from a dragon, which was also a S Rank Monster.
In the end, all six of the factions bid on the S Rank items.
All six factions pushed the price up to its highest point and even pushed it past its highest value.
But they didn’t hesitate to do so because they knew the value of these items. They knew that they couldn’t let these items slip through their fingers.
Though in the end, they just made it so that they had no choice but to yield an even amount of S Rank items to each other. In a way, the power of the six factions was still balanced after this auction with the way that they split the items.
However, that wasn’t the end of it.
“Thank you everyone for coming to our auction. I hope that you will all be able to return safely.” The auctioneer said in a meaningful voice. In a way, it was almost as if she was taunting the guests of the auction.
In reality, it was actually a kind reminder.
After all, this auction was different from a normal auction.
This was an underground auction, one that wasn’t regulated with the same rules that an official auction would have. That meant that there were things that could be done behind the scenes that wouldn’t happen with a normal official auction.
It meant that if they wanted to return safely with the items that they bought, they had to make sure that they were well protected. They had to make sure that they had a route secured for themselves to head back safely.
But it wasn’t as if they didn’t know this already.
Those that had come to this underground auction naturally already knew that this was the case, so they had already prepared these routes to escape from this place long ago.
Though it wasn’t as if everything would go as they planned.
Even if they had prepared these routes, they naturally wouldn’t believe that everything would go smoothly.
Everyone knew that since this was an event that brought in all six factions, they would naturally have similar methods to each other as factions that were of the same level. At the same time, they would also be trying to sabotage each other as factions of the same level.
That meant that they knew that it would be impossible for them to get out of this unscathed.
Lin Fan had left early, but that wasn’t because he didn’t want to get involved.
Rather, it was because he wanted to find the best seat.
In this underground market, there were only so many routes that could be taken.
As long as he remained in a certain place, it would be easy for him to spread out his spiritual sense to cover all of these different routes. With this spiritual sense, he was able to see how each of the factions were planning on returning with the items that they bought.
Though he was also able to watch over them if he were to use Greeny.
The reason why he didn’t was because Greeny left a trace while spiritual sense was something that the people of the magic continent couldn’t sense.
That was why it was much safer to use the spiritual sense.
At the same time, Lin Fan already knew the routes that they would be using.
It wasn’t as if Lin Fan had been idle before the auction started, he had already been gathering information about the plans that the different factions had. So it was only natural that he already knew all of the routes that they would use.
With this knowledge, he could just watch as they attacked each other.
Lin Fan even brought out some snacks as if he was watching over some kind of show, but that didn’t mean that he was completely relaxed.
Lin Fan was still carefully watching over the different fights between the different factions. At the same time, he was watching over the people from the other countries.
If they couldn’t get the items with money, it wouldn’t be strange if they would try something else to get the items.
It wouldn’t be strange if they tried to take the items with force instead.
That wasn’t something that Lin Fan could allow to happen since the plan was to let the six factions take these items to make their infighting even more fierce. So he had to make sure that these people from the other countries wouldn’t be able to do anything to the six factions.
He couldn’t give them even a single chance to cause trouble.
That was why Lin Fan was going out of his way to watch over everything.
When he found one of the groups from the other country that wanted to do something, that was when he would send his assistants to take care of them.
It was the pets that were led by Hayase.
After Hayase absorbed the bloodline of the red dragon, he had reached the Golden Core Realm. A dragon equal to a Golden Core Realm Cultivator was considered a S Rank Monster in this world.
That meant that he was able to easily take care of these groups all on his own.
Though Lin Fan had also sent the rest of the pets just to make sure that they wouldn’t be able to do anything.
The only thing that Lin Fan had to do was track these groups with his spiritual sense before sending their location to Hayase.
Once Hayase received this information, he would lead the group of pets to take care of them.
There was nothing else that Lin Fan had to care about.
Other than watching out for the groups from the other countries, Lin Fan also had to watch out for groups that were ambitious and didn’t know their place. But they were much easier to deal with since they were weaker local forces or they were bandits that overestimated themselves.
That just took a few of Greeny’s puppets to take care of.
The only other thing that Lin Fan cared about was when the factions fought each other.
There was only so much that he could allow to happen.
If they stole from each other, that was fine since it would cause future fights to happen as it created grudges between the factions. At the same time, it would mean that the items were still going to one of the factions and make them stronger.
But there was one thing that Lin Fan couldn’t allow.
If one faction were to steal far more than the other factions, then there would be a strong imbalance created. They wanted these factions to fight and weaken each other, that wouldn’t happen if one faction was just much stronger than the other factions.
That was why Lin Fan had to stop any faction that was too greedy.
And there was one that was this greedy.
“It seems that he’s used to being a prince with the kind of greed that he possesses.” Lin Fan said while shaking his head with a wry smile.
The faction that had gone too far was the first prince’s faction.
It seemed that his pride as the first prince caused him to be far more greedy than the rest of the factions.
That was because he sent his people after all five other factions. He didn’t hold back at all as he gathered many different troops from many different places to attack them all.
This was clear based on the armour that they wore under their cloaks.
“Let’s start with the one closest since that place seems the most dangerous.”
As soon as Lin Fan said this, he leaped out of the tower that he had been sitting in and flew across the sky.
