Chapter 1517 - 1517: New Shield Abilities
—–
The shield’s new upgrade was already quite fantastic, to be honest. All of the old abilities got upgraded and they gave me quite a lot of bonuses. What I liked the most however were the upgrades to the damage reduction abilities, which now reduced three times as much damage as before.
The VIT and RES bonuses were also quite good; by merely holding the shield I could feel my body become somewhat tougher and heavier? I don’t know how to explain it, but I did feel stronger. Also gaining magic resistance doesn’t feel any different than before though, so I can’t explain about it that much…
But stat boosts and damage reduction aside, there were three abilities that got new upgrades, changing how they worked almost entirely.
First was the Divine Spiritual Yggdragon Fortress Ability. This ability creates a magical aura from the shield in the shape of a mighty dragon around my body, which I can then expand to any ally within 100 meters, this shares the defensive effects of the shield to everyone, literally turning what I get by holding it into a party-wide buff, insane!
But isn’t this too gamey already?! Maybe the System from Arcadia is somehow affecting this world through the powers I get from it? Or maybe this is because the shield was created using game items such as the Potential Cubes, I suppose.
Then there were the upgrades for the two other Hidden Abilities obtained through the shield’s divine blessings from Gaia herself, which I had obtained through Divine Path Summon.
The first one was the Divine Yggdragon Shield, it upgraded itself and became a movable, independent spiritual dragon guardian who is as strong as the shield itself and also my own Magic Circle and Physique Runes, I think? It’s single use ability so I can only have one of these around, but it sounds pretty handy.
And then there was the second Hidden Ability, the Gaia’s Heavenly Yggdragon Domain, and now this one became pretty insane. It was literally a Domain ability with its own effects. Like standing there increased health and mana recovery by ten times, and it even came with automatic attacks against foes that are inside too, blinding light rays, heavenly dragon claws, and even Yggdragon flames.
The most interesting thing was that they will attack foes continuously, being something like a “guaranteed attack” within the domains, which can become a thing if they’re formed adequately. The damage of these automatic guaranteed attacks was based on my Magic Circle Level and Runes plus a five hundred percent boost, so it was really nice.
The sad part was that it could only be used once a day.
But hey, it’s nothing too bad either way!
And, moving on to the last three abilities, the new ones I obtained…

[Divine Spiritual Multi-Colored Yggdragonium Shield (A+ Rank Magic Shield)]
+An old shield made of wood and spiritual energy that had gone through several transformations, being reinforced with the scales of four different dragons and the absorbing the essence of otherworldly materials and magical items, mostly of the Yggdragonium metal, made using the scales of the otherworldly divine dragon tree, Yggdragon, through these transformations, the shield has gained a powerful Spiritual Aura and a new design and form.
A shield like no other in this world, this shield has become a Legendary Relic and could be easily coveted by the world’s largest Magus Houses and other organizations as the best defensive equipment. Caution is advised when using the shield, as it might be possible to break the bones of attackers that hit it.

[Divine Yggdragon’s Eyes Of Magic Repulsion (A)]: Whenever the shield is hit with Magical Attacks, it is possible for the Crystal Eyes to absorb part of the magic. Once the eyes have absorbed enough magic from attacks, they can release it into a powerful Magical Repulsion attack, which will also cancel any magic spell thrown at the shield (or you). The Eyes charging requirements increase with each time you use this ability. After 24 hours of not using it, the charging rate resets.
[Earth-Shattering Divine Spirit Shield Slam (A)]: Gather Mana and Spirit Energy into your shield and charge with all your force against any foe, slamming them with your magical shield at full power, dealing damage based on your Physique Level, Physique Runs, and this Shield’s Power plus another 200% boost to damage, while ignoring 50% of your foe’s Physical Defense or Magic Defense. The attack will unleash a shockwave around your target, causing damage in the surroundings. Can only be used in intervals of 30 seconds as the shield requires cooling down for some time or it would risk receiving damage.
[Yggdragon’s Spirit Breath Counter (A)]: As you battle and receive damage with your shield. Your shield will constantly absorb Power and Damage over time, until it has fully absorbed enough Power to the point it begins glowing bright gold. Once the shield glows of this color, you can unleash a powerful {Yggdragon Spirit Breath Counter} against your foes, which will release all the damage accumulated alongside a 1000% bonus to damage, bombarding your target and their surroundings on a huge, explosive magical and spiritual attack.

Ah, they all sound really good!
The Eyes of Repulsion are a very useful ability to both absorb and release magical damage, a very useful attack for when I’m in a pinch.
Then the slamming attack seems useful enough for a physical attack, the defense ignoration is the best part of it, and the damage every 30 seconds is… well, not too bad?
It could definitely be worse!
Lastly, the spirit breath attack might be the strongest, dealing massive damage based on absorbed damage by the shield itself.
This one could be really devastating if used right, so I’m looking forward to using it.
Wait, will I ever use it on Avalon? Are there monsters there to begin with?
Perhaps?
Well, whatever the case, let’s mass upgrade the shields everyone else has.
