Chapter 3685: Triaglia is also Out
"Hey, we are out!" Someone commented, and the twins’ group looked in that direction.
Soon, they noticed all the experts found themselves in front of the Golden Palace, and the Palace was now closed. The twins kept their guards high, waiting to see if anyone would come at them.
However, no one really paid attention to the twins’ group. It was as if they didn’t know they were part of Rifindio’s group, who ultimately won the right to become the next Universe Owner.
"Just like Victor said, no one would remember what happened at the end..." Royer said from the side, the many experts ignored their existence.
Rean and the others sighed in relief. After all, they wouldn’t be able to do much with this many experts if they all came over. Well, there was one expert who came to talk to them, though.
"So, have you heard everything you wanted?" It was Rafa, or, to be more specific, Triaglia, who was back to pretending to be a lower-ranked elder.
Roan looked at her, asking. "So, what now? We helped Rifindio, and he will be the next owner. We probably don’t have much use for you anymore, and I’m pretty sure we are soon to be sent back to F956."
Triaglia smiled in response. "Do you expect me to do something against you? Sorry, but I’m better off not getting involved with the F956 Universe’s matters anymore. If Rifindio himself decides he wants to do something, then that’s his problem, not mine."
Rean couldn’t help but ask. "You knew the Werdlem Empire was after us. Your Universe even received the orders to investigate this issue. Why did you decide to leave us free instead of delivering us to the Empire?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" Triaglia shrugged. "I said it already back in the Palace. I expected you to help Rifindio. Of course, I won’t lie. I truly didn’t think you would come to the Palace this early. My idea was to get you all inside next time when the experts of various Universes are gathered again, which should have been millions of years from now. Not that I’m complaining. You did great and helped me acquire my freedom."
"That’s the thing I don’t understand," Kentucky joined. "Why did you think we would help him?"
Triaglia almost burst into laughter. "Oh, there is one thing about outsiders that is always true. They are peak experts or past peak experts. I couldn’t help Rifindio directly, so why not gamble it? So, to prevent anyone else from looking into Rifindio’s matters while you trained him, I blocked his ID in our Universe. If you ended up separating from Rifindio, I would have indeed delivered you on a silver platter to the Werdlem Empire. Good thing for you that you didn’t."
Rean’s mouth twitched. "I shouldn’t have asked it..."
Rean and the others looked at each other. They got so close to being taken, and yet, because of their whim, Triaglia left them alone. Back then, Roan was puzzled about why Rifindio had his ID blocked by the Universe Owner, so he kept Rifindio by their side, and the rest is history.
"I see..." Celis also noticed something else. "No wonder you wouldn’t deliver us to the Werdlem Empire now. It would also be known that you let us go when you could have captured us."
"Not quite," Triaglia shook her head. "After all, I could simply kill you, and everything would be buried in the past. Still, Celis isn’t completely wrong. So, now that Master made it impossible for anyone to tell you came from outside, try not to get caught, alright? I even have some soul techniques that can seal important memories. In case you aren’t confident, you can avoid the Werdlem Empire’s soul search with them."
"No need. Your techniques probably involve some kind of soul destruction to prevent memories from being read," Roan commented. "It was exactly what happened when we tried to read the memories of one of your Camazotz Bats."
"You didn’t really need to tell her we killed one of her own, you know?" Rean commented, sighing.
Triaglia, however, didn’t seem the least bit concerned. "What? Do you think I care? If I had to go out to take revenge for every single Camazotz Bat that dies, I would never have a day of silence in my life. Plenty died this time around, not only the one you killed. I’m a demon beast, and demon beasts care about one thing above all else: individual strength. Whoever you killed was weak. It’s that simple. Even if you ganged up on the guy, it is his fault for falling into your clutches in the first place."
"Oh, we didn’t gang up on him at all. In fact, we didn’t intend to attack him to start with. He just thought he could easily get rid of us due to the difference in cultivation. Well, you know what we are truly capable of," Rean explained.
"Anyway," Triaglia changed the topic. "We should be sent back to F956 anytime now. You will be sent back to the portrait you used to get here, and I’ll be back in the Supreme Palace. We probably won’t see each other again, as I will have to make all the preparations to pass the reins to Rifindio."
"That reminds me," Roan took the chance to ask. "We need to use the Great Void Shifter. Do you think you could arrange it for us?"
"Nope!" Triaglia refused them flatly. "As far as I’m aware, after today, we are strangers. I will pretend I didn’t even hear what you asked. Traveling between Universes is still strictly regulated. If I arranged it for you, my name would be involved. I will not take that risk."
Roan wasn’t really surprised she refused. "It didn’t hurt to ask. Last question then. Victor said that if we one day go to the same place as you intend to go, it would be a lot easier to leave the Werdlem Empire. What place is that?"
"Can’t talk about that either, sorry." Triaglia refused to answer again.
It was at that moment that things changed. Spatial Powers gathered outside as the bell above the Golden Palace Gate rang.
"Well, this is it," Triaglia seemed to be very satisfied. "Time to go back. Be ready for the announcement."
And then, a silver light covered the entire area, and everyone disappeared.
