Chapter 4736 The Archon Returns?
Chapter 4736 The Archon Returns?
Davis didn't even want to think about the answer to that at the moment.
He wished he could still return even if it had been too many years to count. With an optimistic heart, he waited for the inevitable.
The plant lifeform, which was a crippled Realm Calamity, already instinctively treated him as a source of nutrients, allowing him to occupy a spot in its body as though it had prepared a comfortable room. What appeared to be a merciful deed was in truth just a way for it to endlessly extract blood from him so it could continue to produce high-quality fruits.
It had grown quite addicted to his blood.
As he kept waiting, wondering if he should leave now or not, an immense pressure descended, and the plant lifeform visibly flinched, sending the calm bloodstream into a tumultuous stream. The veins squeezed in fear, causing Davis to feel that dread as though he was one with the plant lifeform.
Outside, the atmosphere went silent, not that it was loud in the first place, as there was only a ghost to keep guard, a ghost who never spoke. Still, the atmosphere turned eerily silent as though the sound had been drained.
"The fruits have finally matured. Good!"
A joyful voice boomed across the underground area, jolting the blood energy within Davis's body. Because he had been used to absorbing and refining blood energy, his body was now brimming with immense blood energy and vitality.
Perhaps his lifespan could even match the likes of an Exalt.
However, Davis didn't doubt that his life was hanging in the balance now.
He felt a presence on the other side of the vein wall, making him sigh.
"Come out." A calm voice echoed.
"…"
Davis really wanted to punch himself in the face. Besides the increased prowess for his Body Tempering Cultivation, it seems like he had utterly wasted his time and effort hoping that he could escape after the Archon came back and took away the fruits.
Even if the region was sealed, he was confident in breaking away.
Regardless, he knew he was exposed since he was locked by the Archon's spiritual sense. The other party was not merely sounding him out.
He raised his hand, making an incision on the vein wall and stepping out.
The plant lifeform dared not stop him as it was busy dreading the Archon as though he had come to take its life. It was reasonable considering the Archon had crippled its soul.
Stepping out, Davis looked totally different.
His naked body was draped in a plant-blood carapace armor that made him appear quite bloody and ruthless. His blonde hair was encased in crimson vines, his limbs possessing sharp edges over the joints.
Blood poured out of the vein wall as he stepped out and walked over the land after an unknown amount of time.
His sight, which was filled with crimson, slowly adjusted to the surroundings as he saw a spirit to his front. He felt it was difficult to see them as they were shrouded in a veil haze.
Davis remained silent, ready to use Fallen Heaven at a moment's notice, not that he knew if he could be faster than a True Deity expert, but regardless, he knew Fallen Heaven would continue to perform in his stead if he just had the intention to do so.
Right now, it was firmly concealed to shroud itself from being sensed by the Archon's senses, although whether it would work or not was unknown after he stepped out of the plant lifeform's body.
"An Anarchic Divergent with a puny cultivation base, a mere Level Nine Immortal Emperor, yet you have managed to kill an overgrown Empyrean Stage Primal Karmablood Synthesis Calamity. You're capable of becoming a true menace if you're allowed to grow…"
The Archon's voice was filled with half amazement and half caution. Yet, he did not strike immediately, curiously roaming his gaze over the human before him.
"Speak. Why are you silent? Could it be that you are frozen in fear?"
Davis kept a calm outlook despite the pressure that made him feel like he could be squashed with a mere thought. He couldn't bring himself to show his signature smile as the gravity of the situation disallowed him, but he made a menacing expression.
"Your choice. Kill me or ignore me. We'll both go our own ways."
"Pffft! Haahaha!"
The Archon burst laughing, bursting the capillaries on Davis's body as blood burst from him. The plant-blood armor that he had actually cultivated at the Peak-Level Exalt Grade shattered from within, falling off into fleshly pieces.
Davis grunted in pain. It didn't seem like an attack but a laughter that was targeted at his armor to strip him of his confidence, as though he had been hiding behind his armor.
He was instantly injured, causing him to fall to his knees.
The Archon's laughter slowly subsided before he pointed at Davis, "I have never seen an Empyrean demand something from me, yet a mere Immortal Emperor like you is audacious. You deserve to die a million times, but… I'm a slave to my own curiosity after having lived so long. What made you want to come here and create these marvelous fruits? I don't mind sparing you if your answers satisfy me."
The Archon gestured to the plant lifeform.
"Haha…" Davis laughed, a bit amused, "I was wondering how I was going to take off that overgrowth, but thanks for shattering it."
Only after laughing did Davis see the fruits the size and shape of a door hanging on top of the branches. As he laid his eyes on the vertical rectangle-shaped fruits, he saw them contain different kinds of energies, but life energy amidst the pulsing crimson shade of the fruit was impeccably high.
As expected, his initial guess was correct. Chaos, charm, and blood attributes produced a unique blend of fruit that possessed immense life energy, which improved the aspects of the True Deity or the Archon, allowing them to be more zenith in terms of being worshiped. He guessed not only would their levels increase, but also their ability to gather faith. If used on a True Deity, it might even upgrade their Godskull despite not being able to achieve the second level in the Divine Exalt Stage.
He assumed that was how rare it was in the True Deity Grade and even then…
"To think I was lured by a woman here for this kind of treasure… as expected, the death of me is always going to be a woman…"
Davis threw his head up and laughed, the crimson vines on his head shedding as they revealed his blond hair.
"Lured by a woman…?"
The Archon sounded doubtful. He turned to look at the ghost, who seemed to be petrified on seeing the Divine Emperor of Death still alive. This statement didn't awaken her, so he guessed she wasn't the woman he mentioned. Even if she, he frowned as the reason failed to capture his attention.
"You walked into this place after being lured by a woman. I guess she isn't lucky since she was probably killed by the Primal Karmablood Synthesis Calamity. In any case, I thank you for taking care of the latent problem that the Realm Calamity posed and even managing to nurture the fruit all by yourself at its crucial moment over the past two billion years it was nurtured. Now you can die peacefully, knowing you became my sustenance to supremacy within the Shard Continent."
Davis sneered, "Heh, you never had any intention to spare me…"
"Of course. As you humans would say, why would I spare an ant? I don't even know it exists. And if I knew it could give me a great boon, why would I not step on it?"
The Archon shrugged as though it were a matter of fact. The silhouette of his face possessed a visible grin.
"Stop." Abruptly, a commanding voice echoed across the region.
The tone was like thunder, jolting both Davis and the Archon out of their murderous intentions.
Davis couldn't even look above from the sheer pressure weighing his head down.
His expression churned with helplessness and anger.
What could he do against a True Deity, much less two?
