Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4737 Powerful Archon

Chapter 4737  Powerful Archon

Davis barely managed to sense another True Deity-level character.

It was unknown if Fallen Heaven could do anything to such a character since chances are that its technique would fail to cause damage and only amount to exposing itself.

'Zenova… oh Zenova… you're really the death of me…'

Davis inwardly complained, yet he couldn't feel any hate for her. He was the one who made the decision to come here, so he fully blamed himself. Instead, he was moments away from unleashing Fallen Heaven. He couldn't care anymore since he confirmed he was going to die.

The only choice left was to abandon his fleshly body that he had worked on and become a Ghost Will.

"Guardian, what brings you here? Have you forgotten that this is my personal territory?"

"Zaratu, that person is someone I'm indebted to. You cannot kill him."

"What?"

Archon Zaratu sounded visibly confused. He cast a gaze at the two of them, unable to tell what kind of relationship they would have. Quickly, he appeared before the fruits and collected them. His intention to leave them be and take them when necessary after preparations have been made instantly disappeared.

"Rest assured. You're an esteemed Cloud Elder of our Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak. You can leave one and take the rest."

The voice resounded.

Zaratu's expression churned with an unsightly expression as his hand was about to reach the last fruit out of the five. He appeared to contemplate, but in the end, brought his hand back and bowed towards the figure in the sky.

"As you command, Guardian Ancestor."

With that said, he returned to the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak while making haste as though he was afraid he was going to be robbed clean.

Davis, naturally stunned at the whole fiasco, couldn't understand what was going on. An Archon like Zaratu didn't even dare retaliate? How can that be!?

A few seconds later, it hit him…!

"You…" He tried to lift his head up, but was met with a fearsome resistance from his own soul as though it was warning him.

"Do not attempt to pry your eyes onto me, human. You will die. By all right, I should end you for the sake of the heavens, but this time, I'm willing to let you go since your family helped my granddaughter survive. As a reward, yes, you could take that remaining fruit if you believe it's yours, daring to offend Cloud Elder Zaratu."

"…" Davis's expression churned.

What kind of level did this monster before him reach for him to be able to discard the fruit? No matter what, even if this existence didn't need it, wouldn't he try to keep it since everyone was more or less greedy?

"You are… Rioxys's grandfather…"

As much as he could lift his head up, Davis saw a cluster of black tentacles, similar to what Rioxys Plume possessed. Evidently, this Archon was from the same tribe as Rioxys's mother. A True Deity Celestial Spirit!

No wonder Zaratu fled without arguing much!

"You seem weak. Use the blood essences here to recover. Also, you have a peculiar treasure in your soul that even makes me feel some unease. Is that your final stand against existences like us?"

"…!" Davis looked like he had been struck by thunder.

He hurriedly took out the Malevolent Flesh Erasure Fan from his ring while acting like he took it out from his soul as he presented it.

"It must be this…"

The voice above went silent before it resumed.

"A Cursed Artifact from outside the heavens. No wonder…"

The Guardian's voice was full of frown and contemplation as though he was stroking his beard.

"Discard it. Although it isn't capable of harming us, it holds secrets that you shouldn't even attempt to pry. Even I won't dare pry into it. If you don't heed my words, the calamity you would bring is greater than what you're currently capable of."

"Many thanks for the advice, elder." Davis cupped his hands.

"Hmm, I'll give you a few months' time here to recover. If you dare to stay, don't blame us for being ruthless, but before you leave, come meet my granddaughter at the foot of the mountain."

Davis's expression churned, "Is Rioxys Plume fine?"

"That lass was worried about you since you didn't return from Zaratu's territory. I sensed him going out for the second time in the same year, so I thought it was about time he harvested his fruits, but it turns out that you were also stuck here, so I knew I had to save you, or she would incessantly cry. Also, if she calls you Master again in front of me, you're dead."

"…" Davis wanted to argue that he didn't tell her to call him that, but he refrained.

But suddenly, he noticed.

"Second time in the same year? How many months has it been since Cloud Elder Zaratu first exited seclusion?" Davis guessed it must be the time he killed the Blood Realm Calamity.

The Guardian Ancestor pondered over his question before frowning, "A bit over eleven months."

"Just a year?"

Davis deflated as he sank back to the ground, but his expression was full of gratification. He had even feared that a hundred years had passed based on the amount of time he felt passing in his excruciating endeavor, but it turned out that it was nothing more than eleven months!

"Many thanks, Guardian Ancestor." Davis expressed his thanks again.

"Hmm."

The Guardian Ancestor merely nodded and left.

Watching this scene, Davis felt incredulous over the fact that he was about to get murdered by an Archon, only to be saved by another Archon who was related to one of their families' spirits. Fortunately, Rioxys Plume was an unbound spirit. Otherwise, he guessed the Guardian Ancestor would certainly kill him and his family members.

"I really didn't expect a savior to appear…"

Davis sighed, feeling like he should've known this if he had thought about Rioxys Plume. He guessed Cantor Darkdew, his recently acquired spirit slave, had died since Rioxys Plume would've ventured above the clouds to meet her grandfather of an unknown generation. Regardless, he failed to notice because he had been in a trance to save himself while cultivating, balancing, and feeding the plant lifeform.

He had even been forced to abandon the Eternal Eclipse Bird.

After all, just being in the Shard Continent alone made Immortal Emperors prone to getting tired easily, so for him to maintain consciousness for eleven months straight, he had to abandon all other forms of soul pressure.

Nonetheless, he plopped himself onto the floor, looking at the starry sky, finally gaining some space to breathe. The blood toxic mist had long faded, leaving him to absorb a pure heaven and earth energy he wished he could lick and taste.

But suddenly, he jolted, realizing it was the charming air of the crippled plant Realm Calamity.

"Damn it, can't even rest somewhere..." Davis cursed under his breath and got to work, trying to harvest a True Deity Grade fruit.
