Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 834: Progress

Chapter 834: Progress

Gibson was on point.

With the current state of the Space Marines, Pelle—the Bug Prince of War—was truly not a problem. His existence did not pose even the slightest bit of threat to the frontlines.

Sure, the swarm he led looked scary and unstoppable, but everything was under control. The barriers he made were deceptively strong and sturdy; even though they looked like they’d break, they wouldn’t. It’s designed that way so that their enemies underestimate them.

And even if the first barrier were to be broken, it’s alright. Gibson already left contingencies in place. Remember, not all the space marines deployed were actually real people; some of them were puppets. The majority of the real ones are kept deeper in the base; it’s them who have the real big guns and heavy firepower.

Plus, there were thousands of traps buried in the frontier, just waiting for the right idiots to trigger them.

So, even though Gibson’s real body was nowhere near the Space Marines base when Pelle led the charge, he wasn’t worried at all. The Bug Prince and his army just never stood a chance.

As for Gibson’s real body? Well, he’s on a vacation.

He visited his homeworld, disguised as another tourist. It’s been a while since the last time he visited, and he was glad that, even though so many years have passed, the scenery back at his home remained mostly preserved.

The disguise was on purpose because he’s well known here. He did own the whole solar system where his home was, after all. He didn’t want to cause a commotion; he just wanted to visit and remind himself of where it all started.

As for Berk and Urek, they’re still doing their part, but in a very relaxed and unhurried manner. Not much was going on within Heavenly Star after all, so their jobs were mostly boring.

The paperwork is being handled by their clones. Even their usual responsibilities are also being handled by their clones. Their real bodies are out there doing what they want to do. And this was on top of their third clone meditating about law essences too.

As for Nicholas and Patricia, same old deal. Still in seclusion and rushing to comprehend a complete origin law so that they could finally step into the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm.

Even though it’s difficult and headache-inducing, they kept at it. They’ve never been so close after all. Sure, it’s still uncertain if this was truly the guarantee they’re missing to break that last shackle, but it’s way better than nothing.

They both already felt the benefits. The Bug Empress, while still a formidable foe, was no longer an impossible challenge to their current selves.

And this is on top of them being able to do their usual responsibilities at the HQ.

Because of this, they’d never shut up about the divine cloning art. It’s only because of it that they get to enjoy this kind of freedom. They will forever be grateful to Cedric for sharing this with them. They’re so grateful that even now, they still feel that the reward they gave him for this was still not enough.

Then again, they didn’t want to bother him. The kid made it clear that he just wanted peace and stability.

As for Cedric himself, he remains largely unconcerned about what’s happening outside of his territory.

While he does pay attention to the news, the stories about the frontlines aren’t really included in those, so he doesn’t know. But that didn’t concern him too much.

Even if the frontlines were to fall and the Horde somehow manages to find their way to his territory, he wouldn’t panic, especially now that he’s no longer the same person as he was more than 500 years ago.

He could easily solve any bug problems that may come. And even if the Bug Empress herself were to personally make her way here, he wouldn’t mind. Because as he is right now, he has about a dozen ways to solve whatever problem she plans on throwing at him.

If she ever dared to show herself before him again, he wouldn’t mind teaching her why that is a very bad idea. If he had disrespected her the last time they encountered each other, what about the next time? He would thoroughly humiliate and embarrass her.

Cedric doesn’t play when it comes to the safety of his territory and his people.

Speaking of which, the Rising Sun Sector Domain had long since stabilized. While it’s still growing in multiple sectors, its direction was correct and controlled.

Cedric barely had to do anything at this point. And by now, all of his investments were starting to pay dividends.

Every bangle he spent developing this place was now starting to pay off. His coffers were once again being replenished.

Because he no longer has to concern himself with the tributes, the ’tax’ that his people submit goes straight to his account.

The thing is, Cedric’s tax rates were reasonable, especially compared to other sector domains. Of course, this comes with expectations, but that hardly mattered because it’s the same everywhere else.

Some of his citizens are even surprised because the tax was low. They implied that they could increase it to a more ’comfortable’ level, but Cedric didn’t. He kept them low simply because he’s not that concerned with money. He’s already got more than enough to spend for a lifetime.

In fact, Cedric only took half of the tax he collects from his citizens every year. The other half? He reinvests them in the territory.

He ensures that every party at least gets to have something for the sake of their harmonious relationship. And all of this effort wasn’t going to waste.

To say that his people loved him would be an understatement. They ’LOVE’ him. To death, even. They were completely convinced. If their Sector Lord ordered them to march forward, then forward they’d march. They’d gladly sacrifice their lives for him; that’s how much they believed in him. That’s how much they love him.

In their eyes, Cedric was a benevolent god. One that they’d follow to the end.

And Cedric knows this, and he took it upon himself to never betray their expectations.

As for his personal matters…

Life evolution-wise, he hasn’t had any improvements. He’s still at the initial stage of the Heavenly Venerate Realm.

But make no mistake. If any Heavenly Venerate dares to underestimate him, they’d pay a steep price for doing so.

Cedric wasn’t even afraid of the Bug Empress—a foe that even the Human Sovereigns had to be wary of; some random Heavenly Venerate idiot just won’t get it. He could kill them with a stare.

He wasn’t really in a hurry to step into the Empyrean Realm. He could stride towards that realm at the cost of destabilizing his foundations, but Cedric didn’t want to.

Even if he could do that and just solve the problems it left afterwards, he didn’t want it. There was just no reason to. Time was on his side. Especially since, all things considered, Cedric was quite young, especially compared to the majority of Heavenly Venerates out there like him. Even more so compared to the Human Sovereigns.

Things that took them thousands of years only took hundreds for him. Progress that they only see every hundreds of thousands of years for them was only equivalent to thousands of years of effort for him. Or at least it should.

This wasn’t just talent anymore. Cedric will freely admit to himself and to everybody that he was, in fact, cheating at this point.

His eyes, his extremely solid foundations, his talent, and his unwavering efforts into accomplishing his goals—all of this helped him get to where he was now. He didn’t lack anything. In fact, he had an excess, and he’s putting them all to very good use.

As for his clone, it’s still stuck at the Origin Heaven Continent. Still resolutely enriching his law comprehension.

He still hasn’t gone anywhere near the core inheritance zone, and he wasn’t really in a hurry.

Just by staying at the outer area, he had managed to elevate the majority of his concept laws to the heavenly law level.

It’s an out-of-this-world achievement. Literally. This was his confidence, the reason why he could say that even if the Bug Empress were to show up to his face, he’d be just fine.

At this point he’s already proficient with Creation Laws, and soon, he’d catch a glimpse of the Destruction Laws too.

With those two at his fingertip, there’s nowhere in Heavenly Star he couldn’t go. Hell, he might even be able to say the same even if he were to visit other Chaos Realms.

And yes, that includes the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm too.

But that’s an issue for later in the future. For now, Cedric was having way too much fun deciphering the very structure of the Primitive Universe.

It’s audacious, sure. Mind-bogglingly difficult, maybe. But most definitely fun.

So fun that he’s already imagining the result of the fusion between the Creation and Destruction Laws.
